Wait it is free? Oh gosh it is! Just evolved mine. As I said he already did make something about it being Sg only O.o. I guess people who bought it will be a bit mad.

Axe Skeleton is one of the older characters without a Master Evolution so he isn't very good, yet. I have a feeling he's going to become really good eventually though.

Axe skeleton has always been free, but his cards formerly were even worse, they were buffed somewhat, but he is still behind other shadow veterans.

Well when I first tried to evolve him the day it was released it said it would cost 4 SG for me...

Probably a bug, or maybe you confused it with another skeleton character, but it has been free from the start.
