@ ND ok i re-read it and i think you're right. My suggestion would than be to that person, if you have played from your IP I would not advise playing from any other and try to avoid it at all costs. I completely support the idea of checking IPs for the 100 winners. I am sure staff are intelligent enough to figure out who may have cheated. I myself use a broadband connection so I don't know how that effects my ip changing or not staying the same. I can assure you I plan to get 500 a day minimum, i am not sure if i am still able to stay up like i did in Beta, but I am going to try for sure, and I will not nor have I ever, share my account.

 @ashtons I honestly don't think they'll do anything with IP changing if it's relatively close to each other. Now if you have an IP in Cuba and then 4 hours later it's in China and then back in Cuba in 3 hours then they'll probably be investigating.

Well then, if nothing can really be done, then perhaps a tournament based on accumulating wins is not a good idea.

Personally I'd prefer a lottery instead.

 @drian Where did I say they can't do anything? All I'm getting at is that the staff isn't going to go "This IP changed by the slightest margin so let's perma ban this character" and are going to investigate it to make sure it's not something that will get players unfairly punished(vacation, friend's/different parent's house, etc.,)

You still have freedom of usage, but you will also have the risk of being punished by account sharing.
I sacrifice myself so they can get the account sharers, you gotta have something over for it.

If you dont and keep using different IPs, well, youre giving the sharers a free one here.
Go ahead, use different IPs, i dont mind if you get diskwalifeid.

So everyone who preordered Omega get a Golden Yeti + the top 100 players in that competition? I don't get it... At first only people who have the preorder had the chance to participate in the tourney, now its available to everyone?

 still nothing about the compensation for enhancements are we going to get any idea of what it is ? (this is mainly directed at staff) i mean since ive spent atleast 10k on enhancements varium im hoping fr ATLEAST 25% bk but expect 50% bk or free enhancements in the new system on nything enhanced in the old system .

And hang on a minute people using different IPs getting banned im no computer whiz but if your IP isnt static doesnt that mean it changes regardless of whos using the machine ?

The first 100 contestants get the Golden Yeti.
On top of that:
The King (1st) will get the Platinum Yeti ACHIEVEMENT.
Then, the rest (ranks arent given yet) will receive on of the:
Golden,
Silver,
Or bronze Yeti achievements.

Another thing they need to watch out for is the Players that logs on to the less populated servers with their alternates and click on 1vs1 making their alternates lose on purpose.

So Players if you are thinking about doing that don't.

If u tell me People I think since omega is starting in january it will start out with heartcracked(Valentine's Day Event) which may start at 25-26 January And Omega Release will be then too.
To tell u the truth i was kinda scared that the devs twiter was realy quiet this times and this design notes are realy good for us.
And + another one tommorow.

It's like ND said, some people have a connection that will sometimes change their IP address, but the thing is in those cases the IP is still from your area, and it is usually the closest to you. So if you are logged in from anytown, mid-west, USA and than next thing you know your IP is in China, or somewhere far enough away that you couldn't have possibly gotten there in that amount of time, well than I would call that person guilty.

Also, on a side note, I have just installed screen recording software and plan to record the entire time I am playing, as I also plan to get more wins everyday than most even think is possible. I still truly hope that staff does take the time to do this at tournament end. I will not accuse or point out anyone, but there are several that do this on a regular basis just to stay on all time wins list. It would be a shame for them to ruin the outcome of the first ever contest (tournament) in Omega, regardless of who they are how long they have played, or how much money spent. Anyhow, that's my comment, advice, rant. FIN

Hey guys, I just wanted to mention that we investigate suspicious activity when the issues arise. IP address can help with our detective work, but its not the only line of defense we look at to determine if a player is playing by the rules. I'm not allowed to say them of course, but rest assured we will do everything we can to make the gold yeti competition/tournament fair for all participating players.

@Everyone Else

There are ton's of way to catch cheaters in online games. From measuring time between clicks, to checking IPs for conflicts, checking for attempts to log in from more than one IP RANGE(each area has a range that represents it, and you can get within 5 miles of many peoples physical addresses by using IP), to checking deviations in play style.

Someone getting 500 wins a day probably has a pretty uniform style for dealing with people, and if during certain hours each day, their style completely changes without a change in build or gear or opponent, it can sometimes be blatant.

If someone normally talks during PVP and says certain things during 1 set of times, and doesn't during another, that can also be a good indication.

There are thousands of pieces that go into it besides IP, and it's smart that charfade doesn't go into it, because what ISN'T said, can't be worked around. We don't know what method they are using, though they are probably using dozens.

IF you connect from a different IP range every time you connect, there's a good chance that you aren't sharing unless other indicators also flag you. If you connect from 2 IP's all the time, and one of those IP's has a second account it always logs into, and occasionally you attempt to double log in to one account from both ranges, or even if it happens multiple times, then it's a good indication that you are in fact sharing an account.

Get enough indications, and then more detailed investigations can be done to prove it. This takes time and staff hours, and given the nature of such a pursuit the benefit of the doubt is heavily on the users side, but removing these people improve the game and I'm sure the ED staff are well on it.


TLDR: don't worry if you don't cheat you wont be accused of it by staff, don't change your play style or method of connecting(infinite ip's, single computer, home & work & school) if you don't cheat, it will only raise more flags for ed staff to investigate slowing their ability to investigate cheaters
