For anybody having a hard time finding anything new in the dungeon: try going in deeper before hitting Explore, or try moving to a slightly different room. Sitting at the spawn point only seems to get you common/old characters.
At least that's how it was for me.

It's at Abberants castle.

I noticed that when I use my Ipad, DD's animation is surprisingly smooth.
