No problem, Mritha! quote:
The Revonthi were a race of avian-human hybrids aligned with the shadow element. Loyal to their master, Nulgath, they faithfully carry out his every order with relish. Those are the Revonthi. The Revonthi Eggs were their offspring. Revonthi hatched from those eggs, but while they were growing inside the weak shells, they were incredibly vulnerable. Before they hatched, before they could stretch their wings and master their powers of shadow, they were helpless. And the enemies of Nulgath used this to their advantage. "Egg Raiding Parties" as they were called, stole in under the cover of magical items, destroyed the eggs, and left. The number of Revonthi quickly dwindled to alarming extents. Nulgath was annoyed. Of course, he didn't have the time or will to deal with such petty offenders, but indeed, the loss of one of his most favored subordinates would be quite... irritating, to say the least. And so he simply imbued the entire Revontheus race with a small portion of power, allowing their eggs to defend themselves. The Revonthi inside the eggs would be able to sense the outside world, and could independently roll around. Their new dark energies allowed them to use a small portion of their adult power to protect themselves. In addition, Nulgath strengthened the egg's shells to a degree even harder than diamonds, to the extent that they could only be broken from the inside, when then Revontheus wanted to hatch. In addition, the shell was amorphous, able to shed pieces to transform into different shapes. Regeneration was a snap, as the egg could instantly reform any broken pieces. Now, the Revontheus egg, no longer a burden, could defend themselves. "Egg Raiding Parties" ceased to exist because they were all exterminated on their hunts. Not by the Revonthi, but by their prey, the Revontheus egg. Perhaps, if one travels down the road, they might see a corpse, stinking with poison, shriveled beyond belief. More ominously, a shard of midnight black egg stuck in its heart. That is the sign that one should turn back. The egg was no longer the victim. It was the hunter. Revontheus egg! Whatcha think!?
