Considering rest of balance team are humans, they do have College/University to attend to, one of them being Ashari who is particularily busy with it. I don't see why you're laughing at it, then you'll rant about how crap balance is and how they are lazy. People have lives outside of the game, ED isn't a priority for them, especially if it's voluntary work.

I havent said their lazy, i just say they dont really do their job well.
I mean come on, mercs are still OP as hell.

I have seen some AKs in-game, they should have also noticed the big unbalance, shouldnt they?

Weapons are fine as they are. OP?
Pay $ 50, of course it'll be something special then.
You will anyway buy it next year, so why complain.
And next update will weapons be better than this.

They actually told us that they will start adding more weapons and cores.
That are unique and that way you can shape into the lot of different builds.

Then it's another story, to them should add multiple cores that we can buy in the game to balance it a bit.

Of course I'm angry that weapons are a bit too OP.
But to nerf Them, Is that to say that it does not pay to pay again.
They should be as they are. The players have paid for that benefit.

Teach them the next time it might drop a bit cores that players can buy in the game with credits varium.
While those releases new unique cores on packets.
Plus test all cores as those releasing some more before :)

It's still funny to me that the balance team could be limited to just 1 person. If the development team, balance team or whomever has school, family or whatever to attend to that still doesn't mean they can slouch about when it comes to running the game because their "Too busy" Guess what, everyone is busy not just them. If they're going to run a game and make money at it they should put in the amount of effort into doing it not pump out as many OP'd thingamajiggers to try to ( in a way ) force Varium players to abandon what they just bought in favor of the next gear they're implementing.

I'm not saying that they should make new gear that isn't on the same league as previous gears but to make them so much better is really imo unreasonable. A little better? Sure, different gears to fit different builds like having a aux that is made for support builds, a aux that is made for strength builds, etc sure, but to make 1 that just dominates past auxs is like, really?

Of course if they're going to fork over 50$ they should get something nasty in return fine I get that, but when you use practices like "Pay 50$ to get gear that dominates every other gear" then that tends to lean towards pay to win and I thought this game was taking strides to steer away from that.

To anyone that has played ED for any considerable amount of time could tell from first glance that these two new weapons were outrageous as players complained about the Azreal borg being cheap ( not OP'd ) but cheap and to add a aux with a similar ability and a gun that forces the player to waste their turn essentially when using strike is a bit careless.

These weapons are said to be purchasable through credits I think next year, is next year 2014? They'd probably be gear that outclasses these two little gizmos by that time.

Balance team can be as small as 2 people. All they have to do is make builds, fight, and report the results.

All that matters is who takes the decisions for adjusting the balance, not who actually does the test fights.

It's not limited to one person. I didn't say it exactly. Rabble is main person working on it, on few occassions there's Illuminator helping as well, I believe Mecha Mario pops in every now and then too. Head of Balance is Ashari and she's been away for few months now due to College/University, and we were all aware of it since it was posted on Forum in the past & people asked via IRC.
What I meant that main changes are made by Rabble nowadays, there's few people helping around but they aren't able to do it on weekly basis due to real life. They are also volunteer Staff so not necessarily bind to help 24/7 although they should.

Y'know, that's why they are also looking for more Testers now. Who cares if it's one person working on Balance? Testers should be experienced enough to see what could be bad to release (the more the better; more builds tested; higher efficiency), so it's also their job to see if changes are fine. If Balance Team was bigger, it'd allow to focus on other projects such as passive skills' revamp which was mentioned a while back by Ashari, but she's gone at the moment. We used to have Wiseman but he's retired quite a while back. Nothing stops people from retiring either.

I think what it should do is stop them from using any other offensive skill. It should make players choose between anything that does no damage and strike. That way it would be a way to counter strength builds as intended, and can be used as a way to defer massacre or stop rage berzerker, but NOT stop someone from healing, buffing, or draining energy. Then the skill would actually do something resembling the skill's stated purpose.

But a lot fewer people are buying varium now, so its not going to be that big a deal.

I thought when I first read the skill, it would make them hit you for sure, but still decide which skill to use, useful in 2v2
But I would be able to settle for anything that does 0 damage, or strike

Its a pretty obvious fix. Im really surprised they implemented it this way in the first place. In many situations it is indeed a guarunteed stun, especially against low strength builds. For example, I can force a 150 support merc waste his rage on a 20 str strike. Players should have the option to heal in some way or drain energy in order to defer their rage until the next turn. And it would still follow the "spirit" of what the skill was implemented for.

I have the new items and a mass build because I need to farm for my faction. It has gotten to the point where it doesn't matter who went first, I generally win with massacre.

Some food for thought:
If it was changed, would it be fair to those who bought it though? They bought it knowing the benefits, and I can say the cores are amazing, but is that to say that they're unbeatable? Not at all.

Illogical.

But I will say that Azrael's Will is truly only exploitable on Strength and Thorns (Thorns is what I am doing), but Azrael's Torment is exploitable universally.

I personally find the skills balanced. It isn't like a stun because they can still do damage, and with a str merc it's devastating, in my opinion.

I agree with valkyrie and giras.


The devs need to make sure that they DO NOT constantly make new promo skill cores that completely out do the latest set each time.


It would be A LOT better if they just released average ones that could be really useful for some and not that useful for others however, they should also have a varium in game purchase option, and it shouldn't be limited to a single weapon, having it limited to the seasonal rares from that season would be much better if they were going to make them limited.



And I like your idea Giras, a clear definition of what it should stop is skill based attacks (includes Both tree skill attacks and skill core attacks).
You can still, strike, gun , aux, basic robot attack, and any non attack skill.

Use Azrael's Will on a strength build you not only don't block but the next turn they berzerker you so Azrael's Will help them win.

Hun Kingq,

Unless you have Thorns, it is best you use the Will AS a Strength-type, not AGAINST a Strength-type. Unless, of course, you know that they can rage so you force them to rage Strike instead of something like the Sidearm or Double Strike.

Unn...I really really don't like these new weapons...I get this feeling of dread every time I run into them in 1v1

Odds are, I'll get malfed. As a focus BH, this is absolutely devastating, as my res, smoke, and robot are more often than not, rendered a bit useless.
Hoping to salvage what I can, I'll through up my energy shield for an extra 26 res, hoping to live through the malf. Then he uses Azrael's Torment, which is rather like the Azreal Borg on steroids (at least the bot doesn't do full damage on the buff debuffer.) So now all I can do is heal and hope for all sorts of luck. I get gunned, forcing me to strike before I can heal.
I don't see exactly what I could have done to counter that at all with any build.

The biggest problem I see is a massacre user with this gun.


It does not matter if I am going first or second, the other player is always going to use massacre before me.

The only hopes are a stun, or Yeti to disable the gun.
But then, we should not be forced to use a specific yeti or build to counter a single CORE.

The special would be fine if the damage was reduced to 50%.
Tactically, it would still be good if the skill did zero damage. Being able to use massacre first regardless of first turn is already a huge boost. It decides the battle most of the time.

I feel the same way however for me with massacre builds if I go first I emp them during my third turn so even if they use the gun they can't massacre me without giving up a turn to use generator if it is strong enough. If I go second I emp them my second turn instead of my first.

I dont undertstand that people COMPLAIN about VARIUM cores being OP and that varium is UP. So if you buy varium you get overpowered cores and as a bounus you get varium. If you put it that way it makes more sence since every thing has credits option now EXCEPT the varium cores wich come with 10k var pack. And it is pretty obvious the next promo there will be the cores will be more and more OP. If you think about it there was curse witch lowered a stata (support) wich wasnt involved in defenses or resistane it was making luck factor a bit lower.
Now the cores make you strike with no other option/ do 100% of damage reducing your buff by 65% while you have to waste a turn by assult botting and reduce debuff by 65% witch is the same.
