So this is a thread on how you would define OP builds, not skills/cores. Many people are complaining that merc support is OP just because it's fast and is therefore dominating the GYT. I would define support pretty much 90% off of win rate and 10% off of how long the build takes to win. For example, I wouldn't define support merc as OP because its win rate is pathetic, but I would define the delta BM focus as OP as it took only a mere 8-ish turns to win in many cases, but had a 95%-ish win rate. After seeing multiple threads on discussion of support being OP, I'm interested in seeing exactly how people define OP builds.

builds that are not easily countered is OP, like the support abuse cyber hunter and techmage, support merc is fine but they are certainly a game wrecker in 2v2.

Anything that kills you very fast, and beats you most if not all of the time

I personally found that support CH and TM weren't too bad, but they could definitely use some changing. The main reason is because malf got vastly stronger due to the tech nerf, and I think this would be easily fixed by just bringing tech back to its original scaling.

@Blaze: This would depend on how you play. Not describing anyone specifically, if you are incapable of finding a build which can counter AFTER searching and requesting on battle strategy or testing around your own builds yourself, then I find that to be true. What I'm particularly disappointed in is the fact that I face the same person multiple times, and they have a chance of killing me if they changed their strategy a little, but they refuse and consistently follow their move combos (like, for example, CH mass builds using malf, aux, gun, then mass). Lots of people on the forums are complaining consistently about OP support when I see that they use builds that are no doubt easily defeated in 2 hits by not just support but also by builds such as dex casters.

Blaze: If you have a terrible build and that causes inability to get wins wouldn't make anything OP.

An OP build would be one that has no viable counters. Sure, anything CAN be countered, but if it means you get mauled by everything else in the entire game, it's not a viable counter at all.

@Baron Dante: Precisely. From my point of view, TLM focus was OP back in delta (when boosters were also allowed) because literally nothing could counter the tankiness except for sheer luck. I remember jugg TLM focus builds and 1v1 TLM focus builds having a win rate which was even higher than 95%, typically around 97%. If only 3% of builds can beat another build, and supposing that many losses were also just from an opponent's luck, I'd call the 97% win rate build OP, not the fast 70% one.

Support mercs aren't overpowered per-say, but like trizz said, they are wrecking 2v2 and really support now plays a huge role in three very powerful skills for the mercs which allows for this abuse. An overpowered build would be a build such as the strength abusing mercs of not so long ago. Or we can go back to the advent of the tactical merc that had smokescreen and many used the delta maul as an opportunity to abuse strength all while being tanky. Win rates can be high if you come up with a good strategic build and are smart using it without it being overpowered. I believe it becomes pretty clear when a certain build has strength over most other builds as we tend to see a majority of players playing as it. It's not necessarily that it's overpowered, but it breaks down the game and means adjustments need to be applied to balance out the game.

Support merc while powerful isn't OP. They just as trizz said destroy 2 vs 2. But even when they come in pairs I have beaten them sometimes so they aren't OP. As for me what I consider OP is a build that can beat any build no matter what it is and what plan you come up with to counter it.

I define OP as a game breaker build which is more powerful than the game is intended to have.

OP builds IMHO are builds that are difficult to counter, and get a very good win/lose ratio. Support Merc isn't necessarily OP as it can be countered, it pwns in 2v2 and it's either a kill fast or die fast kinda build.
