But you're taking the 'Hybrid' out of Hybrid Armor... It's meant to be split. With Omega & switchable Armors, HA gets equall advantage as PA/MA, but your only drawback is not having a "lean" on Generator, so you'd regenerate equal amount of both, but even that isn't a problem for some.

Hehe, I strongly disagree with this. Why go back to the old version when the newer is better? You get more defense and resistance. Back then it only gave you 10 for defense or either resistance. You can now get 10 in both if you configure your item stats right. So therefore I disagree.

It was 12 back then before they split it in 2, and the old mineral and plasma armors were 13 when they first came out.

Mercs are commonly know as the tanks of the game, so if you buffed the Hybrid Armor skill to 7 Defense and 6 Resistance (or even 7 Resistance), that's only 3 extra defense in total, but would be a possible good step in the right direction. Know that no one can predict how any change will work till it's in-game for a day or so.

Moving the requirement to support for Hybrid Armor was a mistake in my opinion, it pretty much forces Mercs into putting 30 points into support. Look at some of the other passives and they aren't that restrictive:

Mineral Armor - Requires Dex
Plasma Armor - Requires Tech

The other two armor skills of the different classes only require the main things that actually increase the same defenses. An idea for the requirement for Hybrid Armor could be to make it 40 Dex and 40 Tech or something along those lines.

Making HA switchable? How's that even a buff? Have all of you forgotten why the skill was changed in the first place? It was 1) highly inefficient 2) practically useless, because most players have powerful attacks of both types. That's why you don't use shields unless you get debuffed.

@santonik: Interesting idea, but I don't think it'll be very balanced. It'd pretty much just be like having 2 armor bonuses instead of 1 (from your equipped armor). People could customize their builds way too freely with that kind of passive.
