@ Neos

The reason they took away everything away from NPC but credits (EXP for the lower levels) was so they could be unlimited for people who are coming up to have a source to get credits without feeling like they are falling behind, as well as to make it easier to get mission drops from NPC since they are low.

Recently NPC rewards were capped at 100 wins per day which means that players (a different group of them) are using them more then the staff would like otherwise they would have never put the cap on them. The reason I heard for this was that it was doing damage to the game by having people use NPC this much. It would only destroy the game even more if they did this because everyone who wants NPC wins back will be going at them along with the people who use them now for credits and mission drops.

So In all honestly bringing back NPC for wins will do much more harm then good.

3 Phases we have had NPC's. No harm was done there. So whats the harm now?

I agree, NPC's were the funniest part of the game. No one likes losing!

If you don't like losing then play something that's impossible to lose.. seriously just because people don't like losing doesn't mean you should mess up the entire games w/l records by padding them
with brain dead AI npcs that don't know the difference between healing and striking. This game was created to be ideally a fully PvP game when it first originated why take away from the core gameplay mechanics and add in npcs just because people are to lazy/ stupid to adapt to the current pvp state and come up with a winning build?

Remember the game doesn't revolve around you it revolves around the devs because they are the ones making it if you don't like the world/ game they're creating well don't let the door hit you on the way out :3

NPC weren't unlimited like they are now were they? The closest we had it like that with all NPC was a when a bug went through on the elibcorp war which was a week. where as omega has been going on for a whole lot longer.

The staff isn't going to make NPC count as win for the sole purpose that they want the game to PVP not PVE (win earning wise) and they aren't going to do something that is going to harm the game.

Before you say it won't harm the game it will in one way or another.

If they were to undo what they did and make NPC count as wins then the new players who are trying to earn credits and item drops through NPC will be hurting because they won't be able to have a safe way to gain credits to power up their gear because the rewards will be limited and even if they did win 15 times their source of credits has been nerfed into the ground by 85% due to a small group of older players wanting their free 15 a day back.

if they were to make NPC count for a certain amount of wins while leaving NPC unlimited They will be using more resources then they can afford to use which will cause lag and harm the game (which was the reason why they made NPC rewards only work for 100 wins per day.)

So if they had to choose

A Undo NPC not counting as wins to satisfy the players who want to escape bad balance/pad their wins/loss record with easy wins at the cost of new players losing a good source of NPC grinding

B Make NPC wins X number and keep the rewards up at the expense of damaging the game to satisfy everyone but destroy their own income because of people who want to escape balance/ pad their wins

or

C leave the game as is keep the game health of the game good and have new player happy with a source of credits and missions drops at the expense of a few upset older players who can't escape bad balance/want to get easy wins to pad their win loss record

We all know what the staff is going to choose.

At the expense of having obsolete gear due to leveling up to earning those credits. It was a problem for them, as many of them were unprepared and all the other phases catered to varium players. If you could get varium you were good, if you couldn't you were a punching bag.

Now Non varium players have a better source of credits thanks to the staff and they aren't going to take that away from them just because a few older players want easy NPC wins back in the hopes that they will come back.

Here is a piece of the old design notes

quote:

NPCs will not give experience after level 5. This will allow new players to be eased into the battle system, but afterwards we want the focus to be on PvP. This also allows leveling players to get credits without continuing to level if they feel like they are falling behind.

As shown in the bold they did this for the New players and this is for everyone else who wants them back

quote:

Today we wanted to go over some changes to how NPC fights will work in Omega. We want NPCs to fill the purposes of:

1) training or testing builds

2) gaining credits

3) furthering missions and the storyline

They currently fill some other purposes that we want to move away from, including padding battle records, faction farming, and leveling.

This means the staff doesn't want people using NPC to pad their records which is what most of the people who want NPC back.

So what the staff wants is this. They want players to be able to have a source of credits to power up their gear, and they don't want people padding their records with NPC wins. Last i checked the staff word is final so if even if you could convince every person on epic duel to go along with this (which we know will never happen) The staff will never do it since they aren't looking out for the people who want to pad their wins up with NPC battles at the expense of newer player it is the other way around.

Just before you guys can conclude to a conclusion , ask yourselves these : why do we have Losses ? And more importantly , what's its main purpose ?

If you do bring back npcs some of the people that left might come back. Who cares if it counts as wins there record doesn't tell anything just like call of duty their kd doesnt prove anything. Plus the people that keep losing will get tired and most likley quit the game. Isn't this what people want to win and be able to buy stuff instead of losing all the time not being able to buy anything.

Riddle me this: if the staff cares about making this a PvP and not a PvE game then why are the only solutions being offered by developers on how to fix the match making system to add NPCs to fight after waiting for 'x' time? Before making the argument that "the developers want a PvP game" you should look into how theyre going about actually CHANGING the game.

@ KD

Where are the staff posting these ideas? Could you please link me because the only people I am seeing doing this are the regular users saying that the staff should add NPC into mix with the exception of one person who said they need to reverse this newest change.

Actually it was done to make the game more PVP win wise and not PVE. It was also done to make NPC an unlimited source of credits however a couple of updates back they broke that promise by capping NPC rewards.

Some of the changes are as follows:
NPC fights no longer count towards your battle record. We want the Leaderboards and your battle record to clearly reflect your PvP accomplishments instead of forcing players to farm NPCs to pad their win rates.
You can now fight NPCs an unlimited number of times.
NPCs will not give experience after level 5. This will allow new players to be eased into the battle system, but afterwards we want the focus to be on PvP. This also allows leveling players to get credits without continuing to level if they feel like they are falling behind.
NPCs will no longer give Battle Tokens or Influence. Since you can fight them without limit, we don’t want factions or players to farm them for Tokens or Influence. Again, we want the focus here to be on PvP.
NPCs will not give rewards if you lose. We don’t want people to purposely lose to NPCs over and over, so you will need to win to get Credits or other rewards.
Brainwashing is removed since it is no longer necessary.

This game is really suffering now, it takes 3 minutes to find a battle. How sad is that? Player activity is at an all time low and the players of this game still believe that the Devs know what they're doing. That is what I call faith. Just let the same individuals pass along the same ideas over and over and before you know it, this game will lose another portion of it's player base. It's only a matter of time before they change direction and actually reward people for playing with creativity.

For me? I don't care for a noobish beta player in the past. I may care about winrates, but I'm not all of a hog on npcing. IDC how much money you spent, I've suffered my own ways spending money on this game too especially another $35 to get my account reinstated (Spent over $500, IK you guys spent a lot more than me), but one of my dumb opinions is NPCs still giving exp. (not really desperate for it)
