And by rares I'm referring to, not just holiday rares, but also rare items in general. Cause so far, we have six variants of robots to choose from (talking cores, not dmg type), not to mention half of these are going rare soon (not sure about bunny robots) I mean, if a game only releases rare items, there will be nothing left for those who sign up right after an event has ended. There's not even anything special to buy out there, unless there's an event going on, and that's a shame imo.

Obviously, cores play a big role in Epic Duel atm, and there aren't a whole lot to choose from. You have the promo cores, which sooner or later will be switched out with newer promo cores, and then we have a SLIGHT amount of cores (permanently put IG) that do what? Steal a little energy or give you a 3 % stun chance. I'm not saying I expect cores to make a big difference between those who have them and those who don't, but I'd like to see some more alternatives in game, that are STAYING.

agreed, the DEVS are trying to work on that as far as i know, you know making "permanent" in-game items, but they are also concentrating on creating the dread war and future events so the players have something to do, so making permanent items are not their current priority.

Even if these items have looks, they could work towards permanent items with Cores... Not everyone can farm enough Credits (or buy Varium) in time for the event and waiting a year is even more difficult. Not mentioning the flawed pricing for every single item in-game (inconsistency + higher price due to rarity). Variety is limited and too many items with Cores are rare.

I agree, some items should go rare as per event, but when they have cores and there are lacks in the available cores in-game, there is something wrong. Bots are probably the worst area here, with majority being rare. <.<

There are several permanent items in the game. Now that items do not have set stats, using a permanent weapon that isn't rare shouldn't be an issue. The only thing rare weapons have to offer is possibly an exclusive core, and the exclusivity factor. From what I've gathered, you are more upset about cores being rare than actual weapons being rare. I know that the core ratio is a little rough right now, but there has to be some incentive/bonus to the bots to make them rare and exclusive. As time goes on, you will see cores that you like more that fits your own taste.

As of yet, the priority for the developers right now is focusing on the Dread War. Once that is over, there may be more time for them to focus on cores and such.

EDIT: Cleared up a confusing statement.

Would this make previous cores obsolete?

I mean, if this was the case, you could imagine how those who invested in older cores would react.

@Above

No. I'm saying that as time goes on, you personally will fancy other cores that come out. I will still love my +3% bonus to crit, but you may love a different core. Sorry if my statement was unclear.

EDIT: I cleared up my statement a little more, please disregard the one you quoted.

@ khalix

They already started doing this. Frost shards and azreal's torment are two good examples.

Frost shards while working the same as frost bite has the bonus of doing more damage then it's rare varium frostbite counterpart.

Azreal's torment like frost shards works the same as the Azreal's borg's heart attack but with 25% more damage then heart attack.

Khalix, that actually depends. We are in a "basic" stage where Cores are basic (costing 7,000 Credits / 495 Varium) and the likes of Azrael's Will will probably fall under advanced thus costing much more if they were available on their own. So yes, it may render them obsolete if they were the same type. Power comes at a price, no?

Whilst I agree, Practel, the amount of rare items going rare is still a bit high. Not just the item with cores but ones without them as well. It limits the variety due to low amount of in-game items, and then come the cores. The incentive of an item with a core or rare status may be higher than that of a permanent item, players do go for cosmetics as well even if not rare and with limited variety, it's just... not going well. The point with Bots remains though, a vast majority is rare which really leaves a lot to wish for.

@Khalix, I get that they make things rare to create a higher interest amongst players. (As in an item leaving in one week, hence players buy varium instead of farming like crazy for credits) But having items that actually stay longer than a couple weeks in your game? That's pretty much standard in most MMOs, in ED on the other hand...

I'm all for promos, I buy them myself! I support promo cores being a bit better and stronger than regular cores as well. Since hey, you're getting your money's worth. But having a promo item give you an advantage, doesn't mean there can't be weaker alternatives permanently added in the game for F2P players to buy.

@Practel, I never even mentioned weapons. I was talking about robots, since they go within the core area as well as, well yes, weapons and armors with cores locked on to them.

And here I am, thinking that which cores to use would be debatable.

Considering what I watched from that video on 'Power Creep'...

Well, fun times, I suppose.

@Theclown, that's kinda besides the point.. In AQW weapons don't have cores, they have a dmg range which varies from small numbers to high numbers and all variants are still availible in game, if anything goes rare it's more of a skin than a game changer. I was talking about items that include cores and come with new battle tactics, which is unique to ED unlike in AQW.
