note- i couldnt think of a good name so it's completely subject to change. hopefully the Devs pick up on this and make it the next war. Since before the Great Banishment of Legion and Exile alike, Mantyra was a haven for criminals. A rocky, barren mountain range devoid of natural resources and home to savage animal and plant life, it was nonetheless ideally situated close to the main transportation route to Fortune City, and therefore attracted highwaymen, murderers and everything in between. Carving a foothold in the mountains, the bandits formed a sort of informal brotherhood in which they looked out for only themselves and each other, and coexisted peacefully with their surroundings (if not with their fellow citizens of Delta V). The Great War ended their prosperity. It's much more difficult to rob armed soldiers than unsuspecting miners, and with repeated bombings and military presence everywhere travel was at a minimum. One fateful day, the Legion was pursuing a group of Exiles after a devastating victory when they strayed too close to the mountain range of Mantyra. In their desperation, the criminals banded together and lashed out at the Legion forces in pursuit, taking them completely by surprise and causing a complete route of Legion forces in the area. Having committed an act of war, the criminal brotherhood allied themselves with the Exiles, who hailed them as heroes. Alydriah's vengeance was swift. Bribing Exile command with the safe return of several spies, she struck at the bandit's headquarters with ruthless precision, razing their village to the ground and estabilishing complete military occupation of the mountain range. In doing so, however, she destroyed the one open path into the mountain range, and it became an inescapable trap to any without hovercraft. Realizing its value, she quickly established a prison and threw all surviving bandits (as well as the most dangerous of criminals) into the prison and sealed it permanently, establishing firm military presence and cutting the criminals off from the rest of the world. In addition, Alydriah's presence starved a great many animals living in the mountain range, and the ones that survived became steadily more monstrous until they resembled their descendants- the Hazards. When Caden banished Legion and Exile forces alike to beyond Delta V, for whatever reason the bandits (though not their captors) were spared. Quickly devising ways to escape their prison, they used the prison to build a military fortress to rival Alydriah's, and quickly harnessed the savage beasts for labor. Now commanding an army of mutant crazed convicts and primeval monsters, they stand ready to strike back at the Legion that imprisoned them and the Exiles that abandoned them.
