It's actually not at all normal Mother1.

Prior to the faction filters, it would always be highest lvl & lowest lvl vs. the two in the middle lvls. Ex: 34/30 vs. 33/32. This example would be 100%.

If the two highest lvls were equal then it was random who got the lowest lvl. Ex: 35/34 vs. 35/30

This is also true with 3 levels being equal. Ex: 35/35 vs. 35/30.

The point Cn2025 is making, that you're not getting, all his examples show how the top/low vs. middle no longer exists and makes for TERRIBLE matches.

I understand it is because of faction preference to create the exile vs. legion theme. However I would much rather sit in queue for 10 minutes straight and have a fair fight than to fight 3 battles of 35/35 vs. 30/30 again and again and again. I ran into a pair of 35 exiles just yesterday who were tandem queuing and fought them back to back on my lvl 31 TM alt. Both fights I had a sub 35 as my partner. Both fights were a complete waste of time.

Keep in mind, the skill/equipment jump for MOST lvl 35's is huge even when compared to a lvl 34. Also keep in mind the point of view for those leveling characters. Once you hit lvl 30 1v1 is completely out the window as you'll get a 35 roughly 50% of the time (depending on the time of day, such as late night, it can be more like 90%). That's a guranteed 50% loss ratio, just out of the gate. So most young 30's will resort to 2v2. Now with this filter change that is almost out the window as well for the above mentioned reasons, though still better than trying to 1v1. The only real practical option now is to do nothing bug Jugg battles.

So a Jugging I shall go... a jugging I shall go.

Here is shows what the gap can be in 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 with levels

As it shows there anything higher then a 6 level gap is a mistake. However if it is within 0-6 level in two vs two it is indeed normal. It is as I said before because of this legion vs exile feature that these crazy pairings happen. There aren't enough players evenly spread out at all levels. If this was the case then this wouldn't be happening but thanks to this legion vs exile filter it has once again cute into the player pool, so they are matching as close a possible to within the level range without going over.

However in quite a few cases I am seeing gaps of 7+ levels and that I don't find acceptable even if I am on the side with an advantage. If I am facing 2 32 and I have a level 29 partner ok fair game (since 35 + 29 = 32 +32) or it the levels add up to be close without going over that 6 level gap find.

Heck even teams with a disadvantage have won against me and my partner due them having builds that can counter either mine or my partners.

TL:DR

0-6 level range ok fair game since it the actual gap (even though 5-6 level gap in fights would normally be rare)
7+ ok I call foul.

Your link shows the credit rewards for wins with level gaps in either direction. It has absolutely no bearing on how the lvl's were paired in 2v2 prior to the faction filter.

It WAS exactly how I mentioned it, 100% of the time. Top/Low vs. Middle/Middle. That was the rule with tie levels causing some randomness on the lvl gaps for one side.

Now with the re-release the faction is taking #1 preference, with time in queue taking #2 preference, leaving balanced fights a distant 3rd or even more likely completely erased from consideration.

This is what needs fixing. As I first mentioned, I would rather sit in queue for 10 minutes waiting and have a exile vs. legion battle that is BALANCED.

Also this isn't the first time they used the legion versus exile thing. The first time around this same thing happened however it was as you wished. Making everyone wait long waits for matches in 1 vs 1 2 vs 2 and juggernaut.

People complained about the wait times and that was why they removed it the first time.

Also here is a part of an old design notes about this the legion vs exile thing.

While it caused imbalance in some matches (which they were hoping to avoid) The note also show that the first time around matches were slow to find the first time around which if you read the forums when they first did this people complained about.

While you might be happy with a waiting there are others who won't be happy.

Personally as I said before they need to remove this legion vs exile filter once again. There aren't enough player at all levels evenly spread out to go around to make this work.

This filter is throwing off the balance. Lastly I am not against this idea. I was only pointing out that some matches where off the charts while some were within the 0-6 level gap.

Ok. Yes. Agreed. With the old system the highest the lvl gap could be was 6. BECAUSE it was top/low vs. middle/middle. Glad we agree.

Yes. I also know this wasn't the 1st time they released this. Which is why I said "re-release." But what you're failing to get is what I am suggesting is NOT the same thing. The 1st release caused long waits while STILL getting entirely unbalanced matches.

Now we're getting entirely unbalanced matches, without the long waits, because after a certain amount of time the filter will give up on the "faction" portion and just throw anyone into the remaining slot(s) from either faction.

So the only change from the first release is that we are getting unbalanced matches but FASTER. Yay..........

Yes it is my opinion that I would rather take the time it takes in losing an unbalanced match and instead invest it in time queuing for a balanced match. I also understand that there are others who would disagree.

A simple solution; a settings option:

"Battle Preference: Balanced Fight / Quick Battles"

Allowing the player to decide the preference of filter for queuing.

35 - 35 vs 35 vs 32 within lvl range yes 30-30 vs 35-35 within lvl range yes but its not balanced to a fair lvl range

The team is already aware of this issue. There was going to be tweaks to the 2v2 system last week. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to resolved the issue. Unless there's anymore problems with the tweaks, it should be ready in the next update.
