EpicDuel Legends Part 2

Welcome to 2014, EpicDuelists! After a small patch last week, we're ready with our first major update of the new year -- Legendary Points. Players who reached the level cap and beyond have the opportunity to earn Legendary Points to invest in small stat bonuses. For this release, we will be introducing 6 new stat categories:

This menu is accessible from your stats page. We've designed the system in a way that will allow us to add more stat categories in which to invest in the future. As you can see, these categories must be unlocked before they can be invested in. Points can be redistributed later in a system similar to retraining. These bonuses will give veteran players an edge, but not so much as to become completely imbalanced.

Styles from Beyond

Revontheus delivered yet another batch of awesome Asgardian styles for EpicDuel, along with a spooky moose skull!

We've made a small change to the female styles released previously. Style 87 will become the "Loki helm" style to match the equivalent male styles, while the current style 87 will become 92.

Epic Hoarders

The Epic Hoarder achievement promised to those for maxing our their inventories will be awarded this update.

It's not quite as good as having your own reality show, but probably a lot less stressful. At least your EpicDuel items don't attract wild animals (yet)!

Next Week Planning

We've got some big additions and improvements planned for January so here's a sneak-peak of what's coming up:

Revontheus

The Epic Artist Revontheus will finally make his EpicDuel debut, and he's not arriving empty-handed!

Stop by his location for some out-of-this world items and to formally welcome him to the game!

Tutorial Town
Next week we'll also be focusing on EpicDuel's early game experience. This new tutorial will guide new players through the somewhat overwhelming systems of EpicDuel in an imformative, fully-interactive tuturial.

In this new zone, players will learn battle basics like how to initiate a duel, the difference between energy and physical damage, and how to switch different weapon types.

If you already know the ropes, you can opt out of the tutorial and join the community in Central Station, but there will be an achievement for completing this mode!

Still sad Rev left OS. Oh well. At least he still has time to make things for both games. And welcome robotic bird-boy to ED!

Like always, I do not comment on things that I can agree with, and this above quote happens to be something that I disagree with. In all honesty, what is the reasoning for bonus stats? If players are staying at the same level but increasing in legendary rank (stat points) this definitely screws up the matchmaking system. It will be inevitable for players to be fighting uphill battles right from the start.

Really. These legendary stats will seriously damage the game. I hate the thought of it. Why give the strongest players in the game an edge? It makes no sense.

I have to agree with depressed void on his comment. I mean seriously are they seriously trying to cater to 5-10% of the community with this? Now with this change anyone who is hardcore player will have even more of an edge over casual players which happens to be the majority.

With the way the game is now this will make the problems that are here even worse.

"These bonuses will give veteran players an edge, but not so much as to become completely imbalanced."

Hahah, the game is already broken. This change will just make the hardcore players even more powerful. At least make it so that Rank 10 Legendary level 40's can't face level 35's. I would suggest that every three legendary ranks is equivalent to a "level." So a Legendary Rank 3 player's level range would be 36-40 Rank 18 Legendary.

Honestly, if change doesn't happen, this game is going to die. I've stuck with EpicDuel for over four years now, and this change might just push me, and many other players, to the limit.

https://twitter.com/Titan_EpicDuel/status/421749051323711488/photo/1 - some info on the boosts.

On one hand, it's a very small boost. On the other hand, it stacks which makes it significant after a while. Already tweeted NW about it earlier, with level ranges, and just sent the same twitlonger post to Titan.

i have 2 lvl 40 and i have no interest on getting this usless advange;

some players are leaving the op classes because they are absolutly not fun to play, so not evryone likes to win out of inbalance!

im sure that changing a few skills would be way easier of implementing all of this, and it would also make someone happy, so why not just do what ppl are asking for, whit the risk of loosing even more players?

It's not going to be a good update, huh? Once you reach Level 40 I don't expect you people to use those advantages Legends have. If you do use them in the future, why did you complain?
Come on guys, it's just the fact that some of us aren't Legends yet. Someone being a hardcore player and gaining the advantage is not a bad thing. If this was implemented in Delta, then I would be happy if you guys complained because of the high amount of hardcore players we had back then.

Yes I have my doubts; I am not sure how balanced this new thing will be. Like always, if something is too strong, it will get nerfed for balanced reasons. Let the Developers bring these things out, I thought some of us wanted these advantages.

Those who say this is a bad idea... that's the wrong way to describe it. Enhancements were worse, you want them back? These will be weaker than Enhancement points - for a year I'm guessing.

IF YOU LOOK AT TITANS POST with the legend bonus stat thingy it says +4 dmg point per legend stat so if ur aux does 390 it will now do 394 dmg and looks like you can only increase a max of 10 legend points in each catergory which means +4 dmg per point x 10 = 40 extra dmg if you round it back to the old ED system thats 4 extra dmg !!!!not much of a boost if you ask me . and plus its not even released yet so try it out first before you complain

EDIT: oh and it looks like we arent stirring the animals in the war yet!!! lol

There is a difference between having a regulated handicap and an unregulated one. There is no mention of balance whatsoever, a level 40 with 999999 ranks of legendary status can theoretically battle a level 40 with 0 ranks. That does not weigh evenly on a scale. Pay2win is neither encouraged as would be play2win. Encourage the players to pay and to play, but dare you to screw over the players who did not or could not pay or play by giving them the plastic gun... then what is the point anymore? There is no other way to level up than to enter the same pool as the legends in PVP.

Here's regarding the match-up system; Legendary vs. standard players: https://twitter.com/Titan_EpicDuel/status/421790265154629632

@OWA, I really like the trees, they look awesome and the theme sort of reminds me of the Australian outback...

@Depressed, this reminds me of when I first started in beta. The best way to preserve your battle record is to play 2v2 while levelling. Been having some great 2v2 battles lately. I forgot how much fun and strategy was involved with that mode :)

@ CN,
i hope you realize you only need legendary rank 60 or 80, to max out all current extra stats right?

That doesn't mean the Legendary boost is only for these six categories. It can be expanded upon in the future - i.e. direct boost to stats.

I had to take my shoes and socks off to count, but it appears there are 6 new stat categories with 10 upgrades in each... So, 40+60=100 I think... lemme get a calculator ;)

I've seen players with Legendary ranks past 10. They get a whole 30 damage boost over even the Legendary rank 1s. If this happens, it's going to be a bloodbath.
