Dragon Fiend Rider can be found anywhere in the Nightmare Dungeons. Whether it be regular rooms, boss rooms or treasure chest farming spot.
You don't need to pick a specific character to beat DFR, just don't go no-brian mode and discard defensive attacks etc.
Low spot sight and high capture chance.

I just realized that if this DFR wasn't so hard to get, I wouldn't be playing because I would of gotten bored easily

well, I'm hunting for DFR while training my favorite shadow character.

lvl 15 zombie. basically spamming 5-hit combos every turn thanks to CC.

talk about mindless training.

@Mango: It's not the actual sword blade, it's sheathed, so it's inside the cover.

 Yes, finally caught a DFR got the male one, funny that the female is the one who caused me the problems. Well going to hunt Gentleman now can't handle hunting the female DFR.

 @DYKT Thanks, I probably would have cried if I got failed possession for it. Nope, still don't see a point of SGing him he's so easy to encounter (at least for me)

I think the way Nulgath wants us to obtain his gift is great. I like that you have to have a tremendous amount of patience and even then if you are unlucky you could still lose once you encounter the char. I prefer this then just encountering the char easily and using a sg. It's better to sometimes have an insane encounter rate with a very high possession chance then to have a very low possession rate but high encounter rate. However, I think stuff like this should be done on rare special occasions. Just my thoughts.

As for Nulgath being a promotional char, I am not sure what to make of it. Even acw, of all games, had miltonius for free. Here's hoping there will be an in-game purchase for Nulgath (which unfortunately seems extremely unlikely). Let's hope its not the $50 package that comes with Nulgath:(

I have a question for testers. If the DFRs are going rare, does it mean they'll be available in the founder shop in December?

 @Boom Yes, I believe if DFR does become a perma rare (don't think it is) it would become available in the founder shop.

I'm pretty close to start refresh-farming again. . . . . . I spent like 5 hours now farming for him the old fashioned way, and that's only counting today, not yesterday or the day it released. . this is ridiculous.

2 Questions:

How many of you with DFR refresh-farmed?

And can someone confirm if he's going perma-rare, seasonal, or permanent addition to the game's ND?

I refresh-farmed when I kept running into the same monsters. Especially Burn Mage and Shadow Acolyte. I felt like shoving the former into the sun and the latter straight to Hell -_-

Still no DFR, of either kind, even though I got my Arcane Ranger from 17 to 18, and my Templar 14 to 16. Crazy.But I am getting a bunch of gold, so I'll be fine until my Templar is about level 18 and I still haven't found it.

@Mental Something with more defense it preferable. If you have Arch Lich/Bavaria/Lance Knight, those are all good characters. You might even find out you like them better than your current favorite for an element.
