Probably the Corpsicle pet.

Legs would be a bit more of a change in lifestyle then 1 arm

If the X is spreading, does that passively imply that the X equals to a disease?
More like your venue of doom is every expanding and forever inescapable. Any resemblance of a disease is solely to be blamed on the tales of frightened villagers
