Well, the school building is quite some distance from the main gate so unless you scream your throat out, the Guards won't suspect a thing. In any case, they will come looking for you, but hey...!

All who mess with The Dark's plans are dealt with swiftly and without a trace. So, the guards are variables who can be eliminated.

Hmm... Mess around with my only food source thus allowing it the chance to get away, or just eat it the second I spot it and then mess around to lure in more prey? Additionally, its pretty silly the thing wouldn't stalk the NPCs or one-hit kill the PCs since in-universe there isn't a difference between them since they're all just food to it. Anywho, do we only lose battery power if the flashlight is on?

It's gonna kill the guards and play with us since The Dark always has a plan. This time, it's attacked a school looking for children to feed on. Their fear is just a bonus.

Also, no, if your flashlight is off, batteries don't die but the risk of The Dark catching up on you increases substantially. You NEED Light even if you don't WANT it.

So do we get plot twists like the janitor actually being the incarnation of The Light?

We might. But don't expect any such twist towards the beginning or middle of the game as that would spoil the essence.

As of yet, I haven't decided any counter-entity for the game but you can expect some twist.

If you go with a PC being The Dark route, I volunteer unless you find someone better. I probably won't be scary at all. Also, how old are the other players? I'm assuming about the same age as DD's game, about 16-18.

Banned because.... Oh wait.

@Kyle, Actually, I am gonna keep the character range from around 15 to 18. Although you don't feel scared at around 17 years of age, The Dark has its ways.

I sort of want to try and play The Dark now. Not because I think i will be scary, but because i want to play a powerful evil force and see if I CAN be scary.

It's a HUUUUGE Boarding School with an adjoining Dorm. However, you are here on the last day of vacation so the boarding students are all off. You were bound for the airport when you remembered that you missed something at the school. And so...

Well, trying out The Dark is really all about testing your limits and thinking up stuff to scare the players. It does give the controlling player an element of naughtiness and superiority.

Sure thing. But do remember that this is, in fact, an honorary sort of position as in the end, I must do my duties as a host, and not as just a medium between The Dark and the Victims.

So it's like The Dark will do 45% of the work and I'll do 55% of the work.

Why can't the others do 0.1% of the work?

Wait, I almost forgot to mention that idea.

How about PCs occassionally suggest stuff to scare the hell out of each other as The Dark? Like you can keep shooting me PMs and without notice, I'll implement them in-game.

Whaddya think?

That could be fun. Also, quick thing if a PC plays The Dark, it would be best if I they send their action to you via PM.

Exactly. I don't think The Dark will do much to be actually PLAYING with the rest of the players. That'll just make it a standard game, even worse, if you ask me.

Well, sometimes The Dark will need to talk, but that would also be sent via PM.

Banned.... gah...!!!

What would It tell the Victims if he wanted to talk? Perhaps, It can talk by means of possession and/or by taking the form of people you know.

But frankly, what would It say?

Just stuff to psyche them out mostly. For example, you said it can take the form of people they care about later in game. Perfect time to, you know, actually use some vocal chords. Or maybe just misdirection or to make people think someone needs help.

Or if they figure it's not them he can talk about other stuff. For example they go "What arr you?" and he goes "I'd be more worried about what's behind you then what I am."

Hmm... but the Victims MIGHT wisen up later on. Perhaps if it is one of the other players, then it might work.

There's also a forbidden/barred Fourth Floor and a Room No. 13 on Third Floor that's barred shut. Or was it when you last saw it?

There's a basement that has a cellar hatch door leading out onto the field. What might you find there?

What else such scaring cliches can you guys suggest that The Dark can concoct up?
