I recently posted this in suggestions but the reason I am posting this here is because I want feedback from a balance perspective since I noticed that a lot of forum mates really only spend time in one thread.

What I would like to see be done is a third core slot for special weapons that have a locked core. Reason? Guys pay attention to this and please don't judge me too quickly.

My reason for this is that is because every weapon used to be completely different but that turned out to be massively unfair so Omega came along and made every weapon the same and gave us cores because they were supposed to increase build diversity. Well that did exactly the opposite. Now there are a ton of weapons out there that, without cores, are all the same.

Now I wouldn't make this if we had a ton of cores to choose from but we don't and I understand that cores take a long time to code, I have heard that from several artists. It's for that reason I'm not going to wait around and just ask for more cores.

With that being said I am suggesting a 3rd Core slot. If we can't get new cores because the programming takes to long then allow us to have a 3rd core slot for special weapons with locked cores. For example: Black Abyss P, Black Abyss E, Azrael Gun and Aux, Celtic Cleaver, Blood Hawk Slayer P, Blood Hawk Slayer E, ESPECIALLY Omega weapons...etc

Now I know how this looks, believe me. You might say that Varium players will get too much of an advantage but that's impossible. These weapons are seasonal and everyone gets a chance to buy them with credits which means everyone can tack on a 3rd core.

Think about it guys.... We will have insane MP drainers in 2v2, potential Masteries on all Weapons with the Aim Assists, Overshield with Nanosteel armor for the special Armors like Platinums Pride. Once again, a third core slot should only be available to special weapons since they have a locked core slot on them.

Think about it. Thank you

So you are saying some weapons should be outright better then others?

No I don't support this.

I am not saying I like the fact they made everything the same,

Just their doesn't have to be an outright better or worse weapons to have differences.

Maybe they should just bring back set stats to weapons.

And allow small limited stat changes as customization. (BUT NOT BONUS STATS LIKE BROKEN ENHANCEMENTS)

One thing I think they shouldn't of done is make everything purchaseable with credits!

I'm not saying they should give back the varium advantage (I m against this idea) but they should of kept the exclusive cosmetic benefits varium offered,

This way they wouldn't have to release broken promos to earn an income...

It was pretty obvious that in almost all cases varium exclusive gear in previous phases looked better then credit only counterparts,

Why they removed this I do not know..

I love some of the points you made, which is really why I wanted to post this in forums. I hate that they made everything purchaseable with credits and that's one reason I think there's such a huge problem with balance nowadays but that's for another topic.

The reason I am saying this isn't to make weapons better than eachother but to offer an alternative slot for weapons that have locked active and/or passive slots. Ex: Frost weapons that have the core that only works with npcs, azrael weapons with the 5% crit core, delta armor with the 13% core, omega weapons with the yeti core...etc the list goes on. Many of these cores are outright useless but the items are amazing and the reason why people don't use some of these weapons is because the cores just don't cut it.

Now we're not getting a lot of cores, and my guess is that we aren't getting them soon, so if we could just allow special weapons to have a third core then we will have insane build diversity. The best part about it is that most weapons with locked cores are seasonal, purchaseable with credits, so ANYONE can get them. No one will be better than the next person really unless they have exclusive gear.

@ remorse

They wanted to remove the gap they made between varium and non varium players. This was why the made everything that used to be varium exclusive (except for most of the old promo items) buyable with credits. I am guessing their thoughts were "How can we close the gap between players if anything is varium exclusive?" Especially since some items had cores exclusive to their items such as the frost aura core, as well as the Jack o fire items.

However at the same time that doesn't mean I don't agree with you. If it had a core that is one thing, however if it was core less it is only a skin and it could have stayed Varium exclusive since every minus cores is the same power wise.

But at the same time Remorse when weapons weren't the same and had different stats there was more diversity among builds and among equipment as well seeing as each piece of equipment worked best with a certain build.

Example of this were the Jack o fire weapons (which have been devalued big time due to the charge jack o fire core) The spectral reaper used to work wonders for strength builds, were as the harvest reaper was great for support builds.

Making all weapons the same power wise has somewhat ruined that diversity due to everything being just that the same.

@Beserker

I agree that their is an issue with locked cores,

The suggestion you made is a possible solution, however I think a more ideal scenario would be they merely let cores be un-equipable and re-equipable.
(Personally I think this should of been implemented when they first offered slots in omega, and when they added a core inventory)

In terms of locked cores they should just give particular cores associated with seasonal items, a requirement to be equipped to that particular weapon it came from.

I think it would be easier to code to make the cores unequip-able then to give certain weapons a third core slot. (considering the interface space changes as well that extra slots would give)
But your idea is still a possible solution.

I appreciate your feedback on my points :)

@Mother,

I completely understand them wanting to remove the varium gap and I am glad they did,

but that has nothing to do with making everything buy-able with credits THEN also make the power equal,

I think they needlessly created extra work changing prices when they should of just left them the same but removed the power difference...
Much simpler.

Because we don't get much communication on their reasoning behind their decisions sometimes I am left wondering if they just didn't think long enough over some decision or their was other reasoning oblivious to me such as coding constrains.

I love that idea! They could even be unequipable if it's too hard to give cores a third slot! As long as they don't disappear like normal cores but in the best case scenario I really hope it isn't too hard to code this.

Thank you for being respectful!

Cool I'm glad you like the idea, though I shouldn't really take credit since it has been suggested many times before (some of those times would of been me).

If you like that idea,

I also had a little twist concept to this idea,

What if they allowed the equipping of seasonal cores to any seasonal weapon of the same season?

For example,

Lets say you have some winter seasonal rares, perhaps they should make it so that you can equip certain seasonal cores like frostbite from the frost destroyer mutating set onto any other frost primary weapon such as frostbane.

The rules here being it must be from the same season, and onto the same weapon type (a gun core only on a gun etc)

This way some locked cores won't have to be exclusively on one weapon rather other weapons with a similar theme as well.

Though in some cases such as promos with locked cores, the cores would require being on a particular weapon only.

@Mother

In terms of the issue of cores being exclusive to certain weapons requiring varium to be purchased.

Well the idea I said above could also help with this as well,

They could sell the seasonal rare cores separately from the seasonal weapons and allow them to be equipped on all weapons from the same season, such as the frostbite on any other frost primary weapon.

Also I don't think it's the end of the world if they made cores exclusive to varium, just they shouldn't make them so much stronger a well such as some promo weapons now.

I actually was thinking about that a few minutes ago! I was thinking that if they aren't making new cores then why not just sell the old cores at vendbot during that season only to be applied to weapons from that season. I actually really like that idea but I was too scared to post it cause I thought it was dumb lmao. Nice to see other people are thinking the same way I do! I mean lets be honest, that will increase build diversity so much and there should not be any more complaints about lack of cores.
