@Kell to be honest with you, We couldn't decide on a supreme commander because of the chaos that ensued in the strategy tent, plus the lack of actual feedback from those missing.

I'm not exactly sure "why" we should incur a 10 percent increase in deaths due to the fact that there isn't one single command leader out of all the units though?

I'll read the IC and try to respond when I can.

The 10% increase should remind everyone we need to stay united.

And I'll say it again, if no one else will then I claim supreme commander next. Unless someone else wants it.

I feel as if missed quite a bit. Anyone mind filling me in on what went down and our current formation and the link?
I'd read up myself but i'd like to have a post up ASAP.

I'll sum, it up in a moment BK, just let me read the latest Kell post.

Volrun and his Varan forces assumed a defensive position on the battlefield, but was soon backed by the cavalry forces of Trevor and Thanisgard. Right after, Ivis Ainsworth and her mercenaries arrived on the scene, and I'm pretty sure they're at the northern flank (facing Alquen's cavalry). Now Enric and his Daret champions, along with Kerra Brzerzin and the Kulaki - who I assume are on the southern flank - are charging the Alquen columns. Finally, Reynard Naise and the Vorfather troops are reinforcing the Varan soldiers.

EDIT: Oh, and the Alquen forces have cavalry on their northern flank, three columns of Alquen Regulars on their main line, crossbowmen behind them, and some mages tagging behind them. Alquen Regulars are charging, the crossbowmen will support their charge, and the cavalry and mages are yet to act - as far as I know.

EDIT2: I have given the command of the Vorfather cavalry to Trevor of Thanisgard; just assume they're in your ranks, DNW. As for my own men, the Vorfather swordsmen joined the Varan formation, while the Vorfather archers are behind them. The Varan-Vorfather company is moving forward, but slower than the others because they're in a shield wall - which I hope will somewhat lessen the casualties caused by the crossbows (or they should at least fare much better than Daret and the Kulaki). Once the Varan are close enough, they're going to break formation and charge the Alquen Regulars; once those two forces begin fighting, the Vorfather archers will stop firing on the Regulars (lest they risk friendly fire) and will then change to firing on the crossbowmen.

EDIT3: Here is my -very- rough translation of the battlefield, or at least what it will soon look like. I could have made a mistake somewhere, but this is what I understand. I wasn't sure if Ivis' forces were about to charge, and I'm pretty sure Cardus signaled the First Column to head for them.

That is more or less accurate, TJ.

DNW, the increase in casualties is a reflection of the divided nature of the Alliance. Without a Supreme Commander to direct the battle, the individual commanders are acting on their own initiative. Responding independent of one another means that they are not working as a cohesive whole, and are suffering increased attrition because they are not supporting each other. Essentially, defeat in detail.

@DNW: I am in agreeance with Kell here DNW. For an actual army to do what we just did would be just absolutely terrible. We, as players, have the advantage of knowing what's going on overall. Could you imagine real life? There's a French battle where something like this happened during the Medieval age. It had a horrible, most terrible result.

Hmm, I think I may just enforce Varan's infantry or I could support the mercenaries with my men. They're 50 men or so, right?

Might be best to do that, black. Ivis is heavily outnumbered. Having Gilrade there will leave them still outnumbered, but in a much better position.

I think Gilrade should reinforce Ivis' mercenaries as well. We can't afford to let our northern flank fall, especially when Cardus' horsemen are up there.

Just a note. As it is indicated on the map, I'm heading for the mages from that direction.

I won't post anything further on that until the next stage of the battle phase transpires.

I just remembered I have a team of 17 infiltrators that I completely forgot about. Would it be plausible to mount an assassination against their commander?

It is plausible, naturally. The ability of the plan to succeed will be directly proportional to the ingenuity of the plan. Cardus is on the field, in the middle of his command group, in the middle of the Alquen cavalry. It's not going to be easy to get to him.

DNW, which way are you going to try and reach the mages? You'll have to go around Alquen's left or right flank to reach them, unless you plan to charge through Alliance and Alquen heavy infantry to get to them.

The map suggestion is South-Eastwards Kell. around Enric's line of defense.

So noted, DNW.

Black, I would urge you to post quickly. The deadline is set for tomorrow (4/4).

To clarify, my initial post indicating 4/3 was mistaken. I misread my calendar. I'm going to be posting tomorrow evening after I get back from visiting my relatives.

Given my current, maintained non-combat stance in everything...I'm still more waiting on Zeph before I can really post. I don't *need* many mages, but even a small handful would be helpful.

Post coming up soon-ish, got caught up in some IRL stuff so I could never quite assemble my post.
EDIT: Alright, posted. I may elaborate in terms of details later on but I didn't want to hold you guys back so I posted. I hope this assassination plan works but we'll see.

The post is up.

The Alquen mages are going to hold off for now. They're conserving their energy for the potential mage-battle.

DNW, the crossbows are going to start firing if you turn the flank on Alquen.

Expect my next post 4/11.

I haven't received an answer from DNW yet, but, if all goes well, you people will be able to see the collab between me and him soon enough.

@Bastet. I was advised by Kell to wait until most of this battle round is over before posting up the collab. The prevention of right away private msging back, is what usually causes it so I can't respond.

@Everyone. Just a heads up(and I've already informed Kell) My levels of activity "may" drop because this is the final month of college term and homework loads/studying etc. Have doubled what they originally were for my IT class. (specifically we're 2 chapters behind most other classes and we have to practice 3 virtual labs per college day) meaning I have 3 labs and a chapter to go through now per day of school. Add that to algebra and you can kind of get an idea of why the levels might go down.

Edit 2:

Sorry for the minuscule post folks, but time constraints (plus the IT instructor telling us he wants the 3 labs done by Sunday morning) is a little intimidating and is cutting my proper time for writing.

Edit 3:

I've come to an important decision here. I'll be putting the collab during the next battle phase AND withdrawing all of my troops because of upcoming time constraints. You'll still see me in the other role-play (and TDub's if he ever shows up that is) But with Kell's requirements of timing, and my increase in homework, I've decided that I shall have to politely pull myself from this. I'll however do so, in a way that still gives the rest of you, and TJ specifically, Trevor's thoughts.

Edit 4:

Actually, change that. I'll leave the alliance with a hundred horsemen and put them all under TJ's supervision. Volrun will be pleasantly surprised with the way this battle-withdraw happens.

Here I go... I'll read the latest post, but I'm going to admit I'm afraid too... be back in a few minutes. *gulps*

Huh, how interesting. Still in a tight spot, but still, that was pretty interesting.

I'll get on a post now.

Basically, the Varan performed a 'tactical' retreat, which is a lot safer then just breaking and fleeing. They reformed a decent distance away, and the tired troops retreated to the rear ranks of the reformed column. I'm pretty sure since my Varan aren't as heavily armored as the Alquen Regulars, I can outrun them. If they approach us, or pursue us, Worun is just going to blow the horn again and the Varan will keep falling back.

The Alquen Regulars can either retreat, or chase us around. Or maybe they'll split and reinforce their own flanks. In which case I'll flank them. Or maybe Kell has something else up his sleeves. Though I'd imagine Alquen is pretty demoralized right now.

And I'm pretty sure the Vorfather Archers can fire over our heads at the Alquen troops.

Considering how busy I'm about to become, I have two important announcements to make here.

The first is this. After checking with Kell and Ferret, I have been given permission to make a secondary post following the collaboration post that is currently up.

The second announcement is this. I am officially withdrawing from the role-play due to college. However, I am leaving you guys with some support.
