Still Watching...

Post is written. There is vain and scant hope of peer review from the usual sources, given my windows of opportunity to post it. That said, the post is predicated on Tdub vetting certain aspects of the post itself, so it may need to be rewritten entirely. A PM was sent for access for such. Also, at this stage, shimmer is no longer really a thing to be useful...I think that's true regardless of what my post contains. :P

Also, where magic is involved, physics can at best only provide a basis for expansion to determine realistic effect. Yes, despite being exhausted, it makes sense to me to use the bigger words for a tighter definition of what I mean. Bizarre, ain't it?

And we reach our final cut at last. This decision is always among the most difficult to make, given that any who have made it this far have already proven their worth several times over. Still, a decision must be reached regardless, so let us not dally any further. What this cut is going to hinge on is the repetitious nature of certain structures within this Role Player's posts, as well as some minor, but notable issues with flow and grammar that are not present within the posts of their competitors. That said, they have nothing to be ashamed of and have given a great performance this EC.

The Pillar of Fire flashes and then goes dark, the lava hardening into a crust of blackest obsidian, naught but a few stray sparks still visible beneath its surface. Tdub, it is with the utmost regret that I must announce that you have been cut. Should you wish to retreat, your gate will reappear on the wall behind the Fire Pillar and will transport you and only you out of the Arena.

The Final Three shall have until 11:00pm on Tuesday, October 7th to wage war on each other, with the announcement of this year's Champion to take place on the following evening.

Good luck to all of you!

Posted. Bearhug was worked with Kell, who was kind enough to let me use his character to hurt mine.

Wait, what?

Profuse apologies for the lateness of the post. I emailed Ryu about it.

I have triumphed over the internet menace. Sorry again about the delay.

An unexpected issue has placed me away from any proper writing device for tonight. I'll have an outro up LATE tonight.

Edit: Thus ends Prince Makelyth, the dragon-touched juggernaut. I've had a really great time this year, and I never expected to make it this far. Thanks to everyone and good luck to the Final Three!

I take full responsibility for any inconveniences I caused for Ronin. I should have had this up Thursday, but I waited until today, when circumstances conspired against me.

Welp. The proto-post I had written up till midnight has to be scrapped for what should be rather obvious reasons now. The earliest warning I had that any assumptions on withdrawl would be wrong...was a PM send out after I had crashed for the night anyway. Between Church and plans, that means I have an extremely small window to try and get it done in time before Idle Timer, otherwise I'll not be able to write until 10 PM tonight. I can try, but we've seen how my quality has to suffer inordinately to rush, and at Final 3, that's not something I can really afford to do at this stage of the competition, I feel.

This is advance notice, I may require an Extension. I will try my best to not need one, but as stated above, I don't think I have the luxury to avoid it. Either way, I think its safe to say that this post will NOT involve the F.E.R.R.E.T. reaching the other pair and getting involved in a down-and-dirty three-way brawl yet, so I should not hold you both up.

As for Spite...this is the first in quite a while, I think?

E: I think I may have storyboarding done in my head. May skip church if I can think of sufficient reason that can withstand the slings and arrows of highly disappointed family as well as the erosion of guilt. No promises, but I'm going to grab a shower regardless and see if I can't get my head to start turning a phrase or three to kick-start the actual writing.

E2: Before I post this, I would like to say that I DO NOT LIKE THIS POST. I would much rather take things a bit more slowly, a bit more purposefully, and trim Makelyth down with the precision that would display more fully the tactics which F.E.R.R.E.T.s tend to employ. That said, I also hold high respect for the Spite option, and this post will prove its cost upon the Lightsplitter even so. I don't have time to take the post beyond that pivotal combat, so I may wind up bucking the post order depending on Apoc and Kell and permissions since I'll send a draft of what, if anything, said post has within it.

Now for a detail explanation. "Black-hot" is actually a thing. Steel has recorded colors depending on the temperature it is heated to, and actually gets darker as the heat encourages oxidation up to a point. Black hot refers to the gray band of heat, and since the steel is in the process of cooling down rather than heating up, the gray shifts into darker black rather quickly, and remains so even into the cooler blue band. That temperature remains several hundred Fahrenheit, which not only means I am respecting the vast heat output of Makelyth's flaming assault last post, but the F.E.R.R.E.T. is slowly cooling. And I could ill-afford to spend the time to continue reflecting on what that sustained heat has damaged, denatured, and otherwise continues to threaten due to the softer nature of heated steel. I don't have time, and I didn't have a space to dwell on it without interrupting the flow either.

I may elucidate on the construction of a F.E.R.R.E.T. more, later. I have a very busy day ahead, and because of it, I decided against the Extension. To take proper time would've meant not posting till tomorrow, really, so better to rush now than rush tonight when exhausted and wanting sleep.

E3: To be clear on what happened - the Lightsplitter severed Makelyth's spinal cord at the neck. Its something that can be done with an amazingly shallow cut, all things considered given the forum of chopping through whole limbs. Again, something that begged for more description, but TIME has been my greatest enemy at several points in this competition. I may insert a fuller, retrospective description of the wound in a following post. Or, since the "free kill" isn't an immediate kill, provide a more colorful and full description for to Tdub later. Granted, there is the ratings barrier to consider in getting the precise yet gory details on flesh and blood beings as well. Something I can freely subvert in describing the violence on a construct! Yay for lampshading. Or something.

Don't worry Ronin, the post was good. Though now I'm scared (should probably tell Connor to run or something)

Been called into work earlier than the norm, and its been a busier day than I'd've hoped. Someone decided I could help out with putting down a fresh batch of pine straw and mulch before the true chills of winter start slipping into the Fall weather around here. Still, being called in early means getting out early, so I should still be able to post by 10 PM and get a brief peer review to boot.

I hope that suffices for folks?

E: So, running a touch late for work, and skipping a peer review....but I know Apoc has a Plan, so I'll post it now instead. May such a decision not cost me overmuch on the quality front.

Just saw that the cut is tonight, not tomorrow. Attempting to do a dastardly post before then, though time is not on my side right now.

A note on behalf of the worker Ferret:

Sorry for that uncomfortable realization on timing, Apoc. That wound up being a contributing reason for why I rushed the post out without review before heading in for my evening work shift. The typos brought to my attention already make me feel a touch ashamed, but as seems to be the usual for me, there's not much I can do when Time becomes my greatest enemy. Sorry for the lack of polish, but I hope any alterations you need to make to your planned post due to mine don't take you long.

@Ronin: Don't worry about it. I only got home now and was not hindered in any way, shape, or form by you or the timing of your post. It was my little bout of illiteracy that led me into thinking I had an extra 24 hours.

No post coming tonight as anything I could whip up in this hour would not be up to par and, frankly, unsatisfactory. But my last post was within two days, so I'm still within decent time of the deadline, and I'd rather be judged for my polished posts than the monstrosity I'd be writing now.

The "plan", as Ronin calls it, shall go into effect in the resolution of the tournament (which will also make it easier to see what its actual effects are). Gotta still provide a spectacle and provide a proper conclusion!

(To the tune of "One Week" by Bare Naked Ladies)

It's been one week since you looked at me
Brought an end to the fight known as the melee
Nine days since we put down our arms saying
"I'm done here, I'll let Ryu be the judge of me"
Seven days since the OOC
I realize it's a difficult task, but I'm still ancy
Yesterday you'll have judged me
but it'll still be a few days until we see

Elemental Championships Outcome

After much debating and many discussions the winners have been chosen. For the first time ever in the Elemental Championships there is a tie between two Characters. The Characters who won are Kriege and Project F.E.R.R.E.T. , which were role played by Kellehendros and Ronin of Dreams respectively.

I'm surprised this isn't coming from Ryu, but congratulations to both! I know if I had to be the judge, I would have awarded an eight way tie instead :< Competition was fierce this year.

As a note, my death post is ready to go up, but the thread is locked. I'll post it/give it to whoever should post it when it is time.

Issue fixed. Post away!

Edit: Thanks to Ronin, Connor's exit is now up for the viewing. He may have been a dastard, but he was MY dastard. Farewell, my little cowboy.

A note, since Apoc didn't make mention of it, but we discussed Connor's end, and I approved the content.

I'll be in discussion with Ronin, and hopefully we'll get our respective posts up soon.

This has been a very, very busy week. Postcrafting time has been minimal at best, but I'll be trying to knock something out then conference with Kell tomorrow night. Hopefully.

...now watch, having said that, I will have jinxed myself and wind up being called in to work.
