After defeating Shadowfire Artix, flames engulf him. The red armor vanishes (right image), freeing Artix from the Fire Orb's hold. Artix then says the following:

Artix: Greetings and salutations hero! Thank you for freeing me from the grip of the Fire Orb.
Artix: The curse is now trapped in this axe. This weapon cannot fall into evil hands and I fear the curse may try and overtake me again.
Artix: Your heroism has proven you are worthy to guard this sinister weapon and keep it away from those with dark intentions!

• Take the axe! - Opens the Shadowfire Axe shop as follows. Upon exiting the shop the battle ends and you get your rewards.
