Xibalba. The Prison Galaxy. Once, it was a lush realm of vibrant life and a great place for a holiday.
Then it arrived.
Noone nowadays is sure what it was to be honest. Some say it was a horrific demon from The Outer Plane, others that it was a literal god descended from the heavens to lay waste to the universe. All that was known is one man stood alone against it. With the permission of the combined rulers of the universe, he used The Black Sanction, a weapon that took the lives of innocents to alter the universe, to try and kill it. It failed. When he saw the being still living, in his last dying breath he tried a new, horrific tactic with the Sanction: he used every living organism in the galaxy to create a inescapable prison, designed for the sole purpose of keeping the creature imprisoned. Layers of dimensional barriers, warp chains and other nasty tricks, all for one purpose: to keep the thing sealed.
You are a member of the United Force Of Jailers (UFOJ), set on The Gateway, a space station just outside the Xibalba Galaxy designed to keep a eye on the prison. Your mission and those of your teammates is to keep a eye on all foreseeable systems in the prison and make sure whatever is inside never escapes. But the curse used to make the prison and the residual energy of the thing has done strange things to the creatures just outside, warping them into horrific entities. Some attack the station. Some enter the Prison, which is far worse since then a few people need to go in and hunt them down to make sure they don't release the thing, and the prison is a...strange place that screws with the mind.
Do not let the being escape. Whatever it takes.
THE GALACTIC PRISON
This is a A and R game where your objective is to neutralize all threats to The Prison in some way. A update will be posted and you will react to it. You will have a role vital to the success of the station that you may choose that will determine the sort of trials and tribulations you will face. The roles are as follows:
External Monitoring: Your job is to keep a eye on all external threats to the prison: Monsters attempting to attack the station, space pirates, the odd regiment of mad cultists, that sort of thing. You also keep a eye on all official and unofficial traffic to the station and prison. You are belittled on occasion for taking what some consider to be the least dangerous job, but your job is just as vital as all the others. Without you keen eye looking for threats to the station, The Gateway could fall. And if The Gateway falls, so may The Prison.
Internal Monitoring: Your job is to keep a eye on all internal aspects of The Prison, or the ones you can see anyway. You are the all seeing eyes of all those Wardens that enter in search of monsters. Your job is a dangerous one: The Prison's magics combined with the energy of it's inhabitant has been known to interfere with the Internal Monitors systems and section, causing illusions that can deceive and lead to the end of whole hunter parties. You must know what is real and illusion, what systems are actually failing compared to those that are faking it, and resist the lure of old ghosts seeking to drive you to madness. You walk the razor's edge between reality and fiction. Do not fall off.
Wardens (External): Your job is to protect The Gateway from external forces. Simple right? No. You must fight off attacks by the warped beings outside the prison, defend the sector against pirates looking for opportunity, and keep a eye on the mad cults in case one gets the idea of freeing your prisoner. You are the shield that guards The Gateway, the protector of all who dwell within. In your hands are the lives of thousands. Do not let them down, and live up to your legacy.
Wardens (Internal): Noone enters The Prison unless they must. When they must however, it is you sent in. You are the best of the best, warriors sent in to exterminate any threats that enter the prison. You are the ones who deal with cultists who get past the External Monitors and the External Wardens. You are trained to see the real and the illusion. But the prison has a corrupting influence greater then the outside. despite the protective hazard suit you wear, every time you enter you can feel it warping your mind to serve the monster inside. You must resist, bring those intending to break the prison to justice, and flee (With the monster's studyable parts intact if it is a monster) before the madness takes hold.
Researchers: To effectively fight off the threats of the prison, one must understand it. Your job is to study what the Wardens bring back for medical examination. Your job is to create better protection, better weapons, and better understand the influence of the Prison. If you can one day understand the effects of this place, perhaps you will be better prepared if the creature ever escapes. Science and magic is your domain, to better understand the things brought back. You must know the secrets of the Prison. Perhaps one day you will.
