I brought this up to NW, comparing how the Bank works in AQW and ED - assumed it may be similar - and here's the reply I got: quote:
Although they're similar in function, ED's bank system works very differently from AQW. There's no hard cap on the amount of things that can be in the database, like a hard drive, it's just that when you allow "unlimited" entries, performance can degrade. I think we looked into raising the bank cap awhile ago and found very, very few players who had maxed their banks and inventories. However, we can revisit it again and see if it's worth raising the cap. The challenge isn't just raising a number: it's also updating all the security measures to make sure it's not hackable, updating all the descriptions to make sure the new cap is clear, and of course, testing.
