@Salene:

At current the bolt is flying at the same speed that it would be at if it had been shot out of a regular crossbow. From a best guess due to the moderate distance between Cole and Ravinia and from my limited knowledge of old crossbows I would say she would have seconds to dodge if she heard the sound or she could just do a natural movement and while not dodging the shot itself not get killed by it.

Again that's just a guess. So do as you see fit with it.

Alright. There's a post.

@Dwelling: Yeni's water darts are not particularly deadly, but they are very annoying. They won't cut through anything, but it's nasty, briney water that stings on contact with flesh and tends to itch afterward. I recommend not taking one in the face. Feel free to PM me or find me on IRC (#RPBoards channel) if you want more info or just to discuss things.

E: Ronin: For future flavor in posts or the like, could we get a somewhat more indepth description of the lightning spire? We've got the unsettling angles and seamless construction, but what does it appear to be made out of? What color is it? I believe, from the general tone of the description, that it's along the lines of a pillar in terms of size. Is that correct?

Agreed, Tormented. As my hedrons are inside it, we may need a description of the inside as well. Y'know, how it operates.

The lightning spire is in no way the size of a pillar, those things are true mammoths of elemental nature and wouldn't need to be anchored to the normally unperceived magical ceiling above the open air, non-Sky arenas. It would be much more favorable to consider it akin to the Martyrs over in Spike, as the spire is only six feet in overall height from its central point to the tip. You are unable to tell if the spire's construction is a glossy black metal, or merely a glossy patina of char from repeated high-voltage discharges. While it lacks in height, the spire's construction does sprawl irregularly. The base is in not perfectly circular, rather this irregular sprawl leads into angular anchor points that feed out sporadically from the center with all of the unnatural angles mentioned in the original description. For general reference, at its widest point from anchor to anchor, is perhaps ten feet across.

It is not, in and of itself, likely to be a physical obstacle rather than the enabler of the environmental danger of the arena.

The substance itself is solid and seamless, so the hedrons will not penetrate, but they may well be flying through the crevasses and uneven construction in an attempt to find an access point. Were the angles a set of curves, it might barely look like some bizarre thing that was grown, but it is obviously manufactured into form by a process beyond the ken of any present.

Amusingly, I meant a pillar in the basic sense, that thing that serves as a support structure in certain large buildings. But yes, it would be smaller than that, then. A somewhat man-sized magical construct.

@Dwelling:

How likely would it be that I could dodge the spear if I saw it while it was still in motion? Or use my rifle to deflect it?

@ Ronin, Is it inconceivable that the hedrons could find a seam inbetween the roof and the pillar? And that my hedrons could fit inbetwwen the seem, and work the spire-like obstacle to my advantage?

EDIT: Also, as a sidenote, how would you all feel if I took some time to describe the perspective of a spectator who may make an appearnce in next years EC, as a part of my next post? I just can't keep him inside my head any longer, and Ywri's limited vision is stopping me from talking about each of the other competators.

It is not. The spire is a static obstacle anchored to a magic construct roof. The bond is not subject to normal physical restraints or gaps.

Points for thinking inventively! Redirecting environmental hazards is an amusing thing, but that method just won't work sadly.

Whoot! Points! At the very least I'll get some hedrons out of it. Now what about my other question?

I blame post timings. Anyway, your other question! You may, it has been done in the past as more of a flavor-addition sort of thing. Just be careful to be specific about which point of view so as to limit confusion when others are reading your post to react appropriately within their own.

@deathlord45: How likely is it to detect an aerodynamic projectile-weapon coming at you from your left while facing right? I do not see any reflexes or predator-background in your bio, but assuming he'd notice on time and his reflexes are up to snuff he may evade the spear. In the event he does not have the ability to get off the ground, but has say an assassin-like ability to notice things and turn around to block the spear with his bow-gun then his weapon would be damaged by the impact, no doubt about that. Keihäs's weapon is designed to pierce, but in the event it hits something solid which it can penetrate then it is likely to get stuck. (Wood, flesh) Unless your rifle is made out of driftwood in which case the bow-gun would fall apart upon impact.

@Tormented Dragon: How fast do these darts travel and what is their approximate size? How would those interact with the defensive technique Keihäs employs? Alternatively, should they hit would the water stick on the skin or could it be blown off using the same technique?

The post is up! Salene, Ravinia better watch her back. (Not that she doesn't do that already)

@Dwelling: dart-sized! In flight they're about half a foot long, and they move close to the speed of a crossbow bolt. The thing is, they are by no means a solid thing. On contact, they splash, with the aforementioned effects. In flight, they keep together against basic resistances, but a strong wind (such as that used as an active weapon or active defense) would disrupt them. So yes, Pirouette, given it appears to be a personal whirlwind, would handily disrupt the dart.

The water acts like normal water. As far as being blown off and stuff, it's water. Evaporation will leave behind salt and mineral residue, as is normal for briney water.

@Dwelling Dragonlord - Since I have been lenient this year, I will grant you a TWO HOUR extension. You are otherwise officially Idled Out, and if you do not rectify the situation by 17:15 Server Time, your character will be subject to the freedoms of an Idle Kill.

The clock is ticking and my leniency is running out.

@Caststarter: If you wouldn't mind terribly, could you specify in the OOC who Hideyoshi's nicknames refer to? Some are obvious, others aren't, and clarity is wondrous. Thanks much!

Sure, TD. I will give them right here.
Stocky= You, Tormented.
Elven Lady- Dwelling's character.
Gunner= Lancer/Draketh
One-Who-Can't-Hide= Salene
Emotionless= Draysin
And Deathlord I do not have an exact nickname on yet.

@Draysin: I see. Though I was not exactly planning to "attack" in that sense. Although part of the logic here was maybe, just MAYBE, someone would notice along the way. Was just planning things along. Though I will keep that in mind, thank you. Afterall, I rather not deal with Cole or Lance... yet.

And you look at that, Dwelling was the one who noticed.

Thanks for the info, Caststarter!

EDIT: Drakath! Are The Hedrons still in Lance's arm? I must know! Exlamation points!

Caststarter: it should be clear, but the tailed one is, of course, Hideyoshi. Yeni's on her way, but she's certainly not there yet. I look forward to Hideyoshi's reception.

Draysin: Are you sure you don't wanna buy a vowel there? Just one?

Anyway, my apologies for the ambiguity. Any of the spikes stuck to Lance's arm/vembrace would have have likely fallen out when he smacked his arm against the floor to roll. In addition, should any of them have survived that movement, they would have burned off upon him completing his transformation. It's unlikely any ice will last long in close proximity to his body, as the heat that these particular hell hounds give off is enough to cause the air around them to ignite.

In addition, you may want to keep in mind that the air currents around Lance will be irregular, due to the air around him now warping and moving mainly upwards. I'll leave this up to you as to how this would or wouldn't affect your Hedron Sense.

@Drakath, Damn, pardon my french, I guess I'll have to switch targets again, seeing as how I can't do anything against fire.

Edit: And Ywris has no need of vowels.

@TD: Umm, just a couple details here where one is not really important per say but I am a bit of a perfectionist. Considering that I looked at a couple pictures of the species I based Hideyoshi on, there is really no noticeable "tail" (from what I saw. Based him on Japanese Macaques.), especially due to his clothing. Now, the other one is a bit more important. If I written everything the way I wanted it to be, Hideyoshi's staff is not in its extended form where I do not really think one would notice it would be an actual staff. Just two visual quirks though, that is all. I will plan a response soon enough, do not fret.

Also, Draysin. Who is this little one? I assume it is my character?

No Cast, It's TD's, but since Yeni is attacking you, Ywris is heading your way aswell. She'll end up in front of you.
