The lightning spire is in no way the size of a pillar, those things are true mammoths of elemental nature and wouldn't need to be anchored to the normally unperceived magical ceiling above the open air, non-Sky arenas. It would be much more favorable to consider it akin to the Martyrs over in Spike, as the spire is only six feet in overall height from its central point to the tip. You are unable to tell if the spire's construction is a glossy black metal, or merely a glossy patina of char from repeated high-voltage discharges. While it lacks in height, the spire's construction does sprawl irregularly. The base is in not perfectly circular, rather this irregular sprawl leads into angular anchor points that feed out sporadically from the center with all of the unnatural angles mentioned in the original description. For general reference, at its widest point from anchor to anchor, is perhaps ten feet across. It is not, in and of itself, likely to be a physical obstacle rather than the enabler of the environmental danger of the arena. The substance itself is solid and seamless, so the hedrons will not penetrate, but they may well be flying through the crevasses and uneven construction in an attempt to find an access point. Were the angles a set of curves, it might barely look like some bizarre thing that was grown, but it is obviously manufactured into form by a process beyond the ken of any present.
