ed clarification

 i read this thread http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=22032709

my conclusion is ed is just a poorly developed game which reach a point that requires huge amount of work to be fun again.

i have some ideas to help it a lot, affecting the main concept of the game with a very little amount of work but nightwraith just don't wanna the trade-off, the help team would receive a lot of issues (that could be just ignored as all other games support do ¬¬) etc...

epic duel got the same spread as games like agar.io through the internet, i self for example am a player from a poor city thousands of miles from USA and start to play epic duel without see any epic duel ads, but agario for example retain the players and epic duel not. if epic duel stay in same state the biobeast players will see ed and quit as all others players do.

i am not saying that my suggestions is being ignored or complain about ed, just explaining the situation.

 Comparing EpicDuel to agar.io is comparing apples and pears. Yes, EpicDuel has space to improve. But this cannot be achieved in mere days.
The staff is working on EpicDuel while maintaining their schedule of all their other work they have.
They do their best, but you cannot expect things to change on the fly. Concepts get suggested and reviewed and then if approved would get a place in the planning.

That being said, there is a planning for EpicDuel, one that cannot be disclosed of course, but we have to ask for patience then.
Frozen Fury was one of the larger releases in some time and a lot of effort went into it. Such releases are currently not able to be released weekly, so we again ask for patience.

This is a very true statement. Also releases in the past year or so, maybe even longer, haven't really helped fix the problem. They never touch on the root or core of the dilemma at all and just fix problems at hand that the community complains about.

 If players want to bash/complain on the ED staff, they are more than welcome to do so elsewhere. It's not allowed to happen here on the AE Forums.

If players want to offer constructive criticism - which explains the good along with the bad, with respect - those types of posts are helpful and needed.

Those are the rules.



As for what the community complains about, we've seen it all from one end of the topic spectrum to the other. Following the advice of the community only brings more unconstructive criticism, complaining, etc. So, I'm not exactly sure how the ED staff can do anything to make the community happy but the staff keeps trying all the same. There's a lot to be said for that and much respect that is not given to them for their efforts, which is quite sad, really.

While everyone wants the same thing (to make ED great again) Everyone has different ways of going about it which is why we have clashing.

Personally while I know they have separate things for separate teams, several suggestions have been made by several players to help the game grow.

One of which was to add the experienced players who play a lot to the balance team so they can test things and see what will be OP, UP or just right. That was one example some people gave.

Another is to hire a person who soul purpose is to balance the game, and would have the power to veto any changes that they could see that would hurt balance. Such as new idea for cores that are unbalanced and can be game breaking. An example of this would be the infernal android. If we had a proper balance person in charge that bot wouldn't have been nearly as OP as it was when it came out or it might have just been vetoed before making it off the drawing board.


These are just a few of the things I could think off that would help fix the game balance wise.

Now for game play wise here are some Idea I can think of.

1) Put influence back into PVP battles and not just have them for wars.

While I get that they wanted to improve the game and make wars more fun, and address the complaints about the boring 1.0 war, removing influence from battles altogether except for war events kind of killed the competitiveness that factions had. World domination before it became play to win was something many strive to get as well as people wanted to up their regional cheevo's and/or just get influence period for themselves and their factions.

Not only did this hurt the game but due to numerous complaints about how the war was unfair to one side the staff completely stopped wars which means not no one can get personal influence and the only way to get influence for their factions is to win faction daily 1 vs 1 2 vs 2 and/or juggernaut.

Putting the influence back to the way it was and returning world domination back to being a daily thing would help bring back competitive factions which is something the game needs.

2) Updates to faction headquarters.

Back in delta Factions actually served a purpose besides being a place to hangout. They were used to get war kills which helped with factions trying to get world domination. However when the infernal war 1.0 came. (The war itself was one of the better old wars IMO) all the faction stuff that was used for war kills was removed which also not only hurt factions, but made the HQ's bare and boring.

It would be nice if we could have something to make our HQ's look good, or better yet useful for game play when going for World Domination like it used to be.

I could go on but I will stop here for now.

 We are fully aware that the players try to make good suggestions. But again, I need to stress on the fact that there are plans and a schedule.

Should we need people, we would certainly ask for it. But only having experience does not make a person right for the job.

We have such people, not to mention that all new items get passed through the staff and see whether a new item is done right or not.

Balance is something most players are complaining about. But so far, even their own changes have proven to be ineffective.
But balance is to be discussed in the Balance section.

The point in short is that what players want and what players need are 2 different things and that some suggestions are being implemented while others are not for good reasons.

I am not bashing the devs or anything, but from the looks of things....the devs certainly need help with balance. I maybe wrong but the IA android was in the game for a while now and is still OP. It can easily do 500-600 damage on me with over 400+ res and def. In my opinion that's OP and game breaking. If it can do that much on me then imagine what it does to other builds. Im just using this an example referring to the devs work regarding current balance. Another thing, what makes a person right for the job? Most players like myself have been playing ED for 7-10 years. Think of it like a second job, we post hundreds of posts on here that only gets discussed by a handful of players, the players who actually know what they're talking about. The suggestions and balance ideas that actually gets brought into game are discussed by players who just copy what other players say about a certain idea. Those kind of players are not right for the job. The Devs should pick a select few of players who use the forums and plays the game a lot to lead a volunteer balance team. With this team, we can gather information, discuss it as a team, and then pass it on to the official balance team.

Sorry if I seem aggressive or like im whining and complaining. It's not intentional.

Stop hiring people who occasionally log on once every two weeks and find someone who actually regularly plays the game and knows what is currently working and isn't.

i wanna write a really big text about this critical point, but since i have no hope on epic duel, and i don't wanna spent much time doing it, i just try write it in the minimal words possible:

what the devs want frequently is different of what the players want. maybe because after years of people yelling and cursing, the devs probably conclude that 99% of ed player are stupid barely rational kids, however they never said the parameters of what is stupid and what is not in their opinion and think that who don't have their vision about the game is stupid, for example this, i only know that the devs wanna the blocks/deflections in the game absorbing almost all damage because i do a thread about it years ago and rabblefroth said this to me, if this statement was writed in somewhere, i would not open a "stupid" useless thread.

other point is that: if the devs open pools to know what the people think (with a anti troll/stupid people captcha) around 90% of the players would vote "no" for the passives removal, of course the passives removal make the game easier to balance, however as a player myself, i can say that generally what makes the balance easier makes the game dull (it is hard to explain why, i hope that at least the hardcore players understand)

this post have big odds of be deleted, but my focus here is just try explain the situation, it is hard to believe ofc but i have to try.

 To follow up on my previous post:

-Underdog was a really sloppy way of fixing matchmaking. The appropriate way of fixing matchmaking is to entirely remove legendary ranks since ranks themselves not only make some matchups ridiculously unfair but they also cater to specific builds that benefit certain builds, such as focus ones, more than others.
-Balance is not a priority, fun factor is. A game can be really balanced but not be fun and IMO ED is near that point right now. Passives would be nice to have back but not necessary at the moment. At the very least do what was promised a LONG time ago, which is: 1) No skill on the skill tree should be "mandatory" in any way or form, which skills like battery backup very clearly disregard this promise that came with removing passives, and 2) replace overlapping skills in order to add more variety to classes.

Just these 2 points are more than enough to vastly improve the game. Another one which would be more of a second priority would be to make factions a lot more involved in just everything that people do in order to build a larger sense of community.
