Would this be a good idea? If we could get ED transferred to consoles as a free download, I think it would bring it more players/funds due to the large numbers of people who own consoles.

I doubt ED's Kickstarter would meet its goal because ED has much less support than AE as a whole. AQ3D's Kickstarter is on track to only just meet its goal despite its legions of fans from AE's core games - ED's hypothetical Kickstarter would command far less attention and interest, and would likely fail. Many of ED's big spenders during the pre-Omega eras have also left ED permanently and will not return.

Other than that, it might not make sense to transfer ED to mobile. There are many issues with ED beyond balance concerns, and a complete remake might be better to create a game with sounder fundamentals and features.

As much i would want to actually get something like this to happen. i can't help but to agree with Silver Sky, The game currently is of little interest to everyone as the only people who do play are generally the same people who you see time and time again. In saying that, i think that there is like maybe 1000 people playing per day (generally at least 300 on at once).

The only real big spenders that we have as of right now probably won't be able to contribute enough as a combined effort due to the amount of time, effort and resources required to port the game to console.
I could see it maybe being a mobile game but once again, Silver is right in saying that if it is to do well (or even to be considered as somewhat successful), a full revamp of the game would be needed.

Also most console gamers already have an average amount of MMO-ish games. A pure PvP game with flash graphics probably won't get the attention of anyone sadly. At least i have doubts that it will.

Given how much money was dumped into gifting last year, I wouldn't be surprised if a few people decided to donate 500$ to a kickstarter IF there were pretty significant rewards/benefits for it.

But still I think ED should get remade to have just overall improvements to it. If they can shift out of flash and allow for more memory for assets we can have a lot more animations and smoother graphics and whatnot, to name one of many benefits possible.

Beep Beep! ArchKnight AQ / ED

Eh, dunno if that'll work. I Have both an Xbox One and PS4 now not sure how compatible they are with keyboards and mice. Unless you use a third party adapter maybe. Could be wrong, I stick controllers for consoles and keyboard and mouse etc for PC.

The ps4 has a touchpad and im pretty sure ED can develop and in-game chat system that is suitable for consoles

I do indeed believe this would work but the kickstarter doesn't necessarily have to be for pcs. Time and time again NightWraith has posted on twitter that releases require the sufficient funds for them. I don't understand why ED isn't getting a large portion of the money from gifting, nor do I care, but if a kickstarter was created solely for ED that awarded players with prizes for how much they donated then youd see a ton of players put forth money. It's really unwise to underestimate the ED players and their passion for the game.

You're overestimating the playerbase, which is both very small and contains a very large amount of people who do not trust the developers.
The time is also just wasted, because we all know that ED cannot continue in its current state. It can continue, but it needs a full rewrite and full rebalance (mechanics should be redone from the ground up, honestly), so porting it to consoles as-is is pointless.

Hmm sorry xendran I disagree with you there. Players might not play any more but there are a ton of old timers I know, and new players, who would be willing to dump money into this game for a specific piece of gear, a core, a bike, an achievement, or even a robot.

Does the goal have to be 200k? No, but if it was along the lines of 10k minimum that could be reached. Much more than 10k was spent lsat year during gifting, if I recall.

$10k is not even remotely close to enough to port this to console. It's enough to pay one person for a couple of months.
Old players are not going to dump money in the numbers that you think they will. They quit for a reason, they aren't going to suddenly start playing because of new gear, core, bike, achievement, robot. If that was true, why don't they come back every release that has new gear? Because they don't care about EpicDuel anymore.

ED Is fundamentally broken because of some of its core game mechanics, wasting money porting a broken game to console is not as effective as simply remaking it from scratch in unity with new mechanics, and native console support.

Apologies I wasn't talking about porting to consoles, just about bigger/better events. 10k should definitely be enough for better events and more common updates and actually that is false information. I know a few players that would come back if just some simple features were put into this game.

Is it broken? Yes but that's not the topic here

Any money in a kickstarter is better spent towards the devs continuing to learn unity through BioBeasts and applying that knowledge to ED 2.0.
And like i said, $10,000 is a couple months pay for a single person (assuming a fairly standard game development salary).
Also, a few players is not enough to bring in the funds for significant financial change unless they dump obscene amounts of money.

I apologize but it really does sound like youre underestimating players. We spend 10k on gifting for just eachother. If you throw some legitimate prizes in there such as a personal sword, armor, core, bike, bot, even an NPC? I think you'll find that players will pay a pretty penny. But everyone is, of course, entitled to their own opinions.

I'm just being realistic based on the playerbase and reputation of the devs.
You can't just kickstart everything and anything and expect it to succeed. People with much larger backings than ED have had kickstarters fail miserably.

That may be so, however from my standpoint im just being realistic also when I say that 10k is a realistic goal

I know 10k is a realistic goal, but 10k is barely anything in the game dev industry. You will get very little content made for $10,000 USD worth of dev time.

I mean 10k, going straight to ED, should be able to help create a more events/cores/ anything. To be honest I don't understand NW tweeted that it takes funds in order to make big releases. I always thought it just took the time to create the art and implement it.

I'm no expert, but I am fairly sure that it would be easier to completely recreate ED in unity rather than port the current ED to consoles.

Edit: Also, consoles? No ty.
