Long ago there was a quaint little village. This was the home of a young, pale demon. Nobody ever called him by a name specifically. But he was called many bad things... Monster, demonic scum, spawn of the underworld, and many others.
Each and everyday he tried so hard to appease the people. Sadly, it fell on deaf ears each and every time. They cursed at him. Threw stones at him. Even so much as held crosses to their chests in fear! This greatly saddened the young demon child.
He always wondered "Where did I come from? Why do they all hate me? Why am I so different?". No matter what they put him through, he always tried to be kind. The villagers saw this as nothing more than trickery and deception. One day the young demon heard a cry for help! He saw a building had caught fire. At first he was hesitant. On one hand, he may be able to convince the villagers he was kind. How could they see he had anything to gain from saving someone from a fire? Sadly on the other hand he knew the hard truth would inevitably come to fruition... No matter what he did out of genuine kindness, they would never accept him. Only see him for how he looked.
He decided not to think about it and try to save the villager anyway. He rapidly approached the burning house. The villagers cowered when they saw him approach. "Don't get to close! He could have started the fire in the first place!" a villager worriedly told the others. The pale demon knew he had to be quick. Fire tended to lick at wooden surfaces quite quickly. He rushed into the burning house. The flames tried to engulf him. Amazingly, he was unharmed! He found the one calling for help. It was a young girl around his age. Well, physically anyway... Demons don't age as quickly as humans did. She at first became frightened at the sight of him. "Please, don't be scared. I'm here to help. If you don't trust me, the fire will only kill you anyway." the pale demon child told the young girl.
At first she was very hesitant to grab his hand. But he had a fair point. The fire would surely engulf the house with her in it eventually. What did she have to lose at this point? The demon child cradled the young girl in his arms. He bolted through the building at lightning speed. His flesh had guarded the girl from bodily harm. The villagers were shocked at the sight they saw before them. "I don't believe my eyes! The demon child saved that young girl!" the leader of the village exclaimed in awe! "NO! It has to be trick! That demon is nothing more than that! A monster! There's no telling what he will do now that he has her!" another villager screamed angrily. "No! STOP! He saved me! Don't hurt him! No matter what you think, he's a hero!" the young girl said weakly but with happiness mixed with sadness in her eyes. The young demon smiled lightly. He "was" a hero!
The villagers didn't believe they could trust the words of a child. But they thought it over carefully. They came to an agreement. They understood now that they all had misjudged the demon child. They couldn't think of any reason he would have risked his hide to save the young girl from the fire. They all begged for forgiveness. They truly realized they had been the real monsters. Over time the villagers grew more and more accepting of the young pale demon. Time after time he would selflessly help the villagers in everyday things. Each time he would say with a very kind, but humble "Its no trouble at all. You don't have to give me anything.". The villagers indeed repayed this kindness each and every time.
One day however... tragedy would strike! A powerful dragon and his army invaded the village. The terrifying dragon "Hypnoticor" had found the village! He gazed at the villagers and they soon knew why his name was to be feared! They all fell under his hypnotic gaze... He commanded them all to raid their own village! They complied with his request... The young Demon watched sadly as all the villagers started ransacking their own homes without a second thought. He had to do something! "STOP! I won't let you use them like mindless slaves you monster!" The demon cried out to Hypnotiocor. "Foolish demon child! You don't understand the horrible truth do you? They've already been under my control for some time..." Hypnoticor said with a devilish grin on his face. "WHAT?! What do you mean?! YOU LIE!" The demon child cried out in anger and confusion.
"Oh? Is that so? Do you really think that fire was an accident? HAHAHAHA! I was the one who caused it! The villagers where just playing their parts! In fact, they were never really accepting of you. I hypnotized them!" Hypnoticor said with evil and laughter. The demon child fell to his knees in sorrow... "It can't be... All of it... wasn't real? All of it... a lie?" He said in sadness... After the villagers outlived their usefulness to Hypnoticor, he proceeded to devour them all. The Young Pale demon just watched in great delight. Something was wrong! He took great pleasure in their demise! "What is this wonderful feeling? HAHAHAHA!!! YES! DIE YOU FOOLISH MORTALS!" He said with evil and joy. But after Hypnoticor had devoured them all, the demon approached him. "You will pay dragon... I will torture you and leave you to bleed out!" He said with Malice and confidence. "HA! Foolish demon child! I sha-" Hypnoticor was cut off from his gloating... His back was bloodied and gushing more and more. "AH! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" Hypnoticor screamed in agony as he writhed in pain. "I'm much faster than I look. I took the opportunity to quickly rip your wings off with my bare hands." The demon said happily with a sinister grin upon his visage. Hyptoticor bled out roaring in agony. He now lie dead before the young demon... "It is done... No human or creature will ever deceive me again! I will be the thing that haunts them in the night... And murders them in the day... I AM... WINGBANE! May all that take flight know my name! HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!"
