Is it just me or are these 2 way harder than the last two?

Are all 7 suppose to be the same difficulty or will each set get harder, with the 7th and last one being the toughest?

Also, is the weapon transformation just cosmetic or does it have a battle effect?

Is Gluttony's chance of recovering HP from hits random? The battle is easy until the moment this effect begins, which seems to happen as it increases its level. There must be some way to stop this otherwise it is difficult to defeat the boss before he begins to recover HP when receiving hits.

Doesn't Gluttony just recover HP when eating your potion/buffs? So it is no random.

And what strategy are you using that makes the fight easy?

Oh man, Lust hits HARD. The Desirelings don't help with surviving against her either, especially when she makes them go into a frenzy.

Gluttony is just annoyingly hard to take down. Think I'll probably wait and see if anyone has a strategy for it. At least Greed just copies your buffs, Gluttony actually takes them away and your potions as well.

I guess I can't expect these two fights to be as doable as Envy and Greed yeah. Ah well.

I figured out gluttony. Just go to the forum to get 10 potions. As long as he has potions to eat he won't really hit hard (getting hungry).

I was using DmK though so that helps beat the heals he gets.

Been meme-ing Lust to death with Void Barrier shenanigans but for a more straight-up fight you'll want Fire resistance and/or a strong shield spammer (Cryptic, Kathool Adept, etc); haven't looked too much into Gluttony yet. So far I'm really liking this release, I wasn't a big fan of Greed and Envy being such pushovers but Lust and Gluttony are doing a great job of making up for it.

@Kurtz96
I talk about the HP recovery he has when you do damage to him, there is a pop-up saying "delicious" or something. This only happens after a certain fight time, I already reached the remaining 40% HP and it was gradually regenerating when I hit (sometimes it recovered, sometimes not) until it was full HP again.

I was using Cryptic, the dragon pet and nothing else, I just had time to go a few tries and couldn't beat it because I didn't know how to get around this mechanic. Later I will try again.

I believe gluttony only heals on misses and devouring potions/buffs, i had to switch my dracobunny for stan since my bunny kept fully healing him. Beat both with kathool, lust was more difficult for me. Also the chest locks didnt light up when i beat them though.... also i could access the chests before beating them too

Any suggestions on beating lust with Kathool?

spoiler:

my strategy was artix nytheria as guests, stan as pet(swapped for my bunny midfight), and trying to burst her down before she enraged her pets... took many attempts and a hardtack. (with guests I felt it was too risky to use potions and I only used the hardtack when I had a good feeling I'd win)

spoiler:

Beware the damage you take when you use kathool...

Can you elaborate on your void barrier strategy? I tried that but it didn't succeed.

I actually just happened to make a video on it. Use this gear and follow the steps shown. It's an easy victory, provided you don't land the 37%ish roll of Lust scoring a critical hit on the 5-hit attack. As with all Void Barrier strategies you want to lower your Health resist to the point where any direct damage you take will be almost completely negated.

I defeated gluttony and lust by the skin of my teeth but the locks on the chest did not glow purple or red :(

^above^

How did you get Lust hit that hard? Her first attack did only 600 to me.

Lust done with archivist and two guests, still a hard fight.

Archivist is uselss against Gluttony because of "devoures your status effects".

Edit: Gluttony is a piece of cake (intended) with DMK + guests.

I'll admit, I've been having a hard time with Envy, so I can't imagine how hard Gluttony would be!

Gluttony is fairly easy once you know what to expect; you'll want to feed him either a buff or a potion on the first two turns of his 6-turn rotation if you don't want to make him angry. The hard part is getting around his heals, so you'll want to use a class with high DPT in order to take him down; I've done it with Ranger but others have found Ascendant and Baltael's Soulweaver to work as well. Shadow Walker of Time has defeated him too; since you generate a buff every time you attack you'll have an endless supply of food for him.

Overall I really liked this release. Like I said earlier I was a bit disappointed by how easy Greed and Envy were last month, but I'm really glad we got a couple fights that are a bit trickier.

Gluttony is definitely the easier of the 2 fights since his gimmick can be bypassed by just having potions.

@mahasamatman
what strategy did you use for archivist? I figure I should beat Lust at least once with a non-cheese strategy like void barrier. Though I'm guessing that archivist would be a lot slower.

You don't want to let him eat your potions if you can avoid it, because each one gives him +5 Fullness. If you have throwaway buffs you can have him eat, just having 1 buff active on each turn he's looking for food will only give him +1 Fullness which will keep his heals much more manageable.

True. Watched him carefully on my second fight with him and noticed he heals himself a respectable amount of hp when he devours a potion from you while he heals a small amount when he takes a buff. With Ascendant, I use a food item the gives a small buff like spell berries or the drinks from the Ch. 3 Ravenloss Inn (sparkling water, mushroom cider and that 3rd one that gives dex...think it was lichen aid or something) to make him devour that buff, then I use The Dagger skill to make him take the bonus buff instead of a potion. Defeated him much quicker than my 1st fight.

Now I only need a strategy against Lust. One that doesn't require Archivist or Doom Knight cause I don't have those.

If you don't have Kathool Adept / Archivist / DoomKnight and don't want to stack Fire resistance or use guests, you'll want to pick up a Seaweed or Hardtack from Ruby in order to defeat Lust. Though she deals a lot of damage, Lust goes down quickly and doesn't attack on every turn of her rotation; you'll want to set up as fast as possible and burst her down before she restarts her rotation, without getting hit by the nuke. Ascendant and Baltael's Soulweaver are both able to do this with an INT/END build and the help of a dragon trained in Protection and Assistance.

Ascendant can use its 3 boosting skills before The Staff -> The Wand -> Ascend to take out Lust. Make good use of your dragon's +BtH buff to get around Lust's shield, as well as using its own shield on turn 2 so as to protect you from Lust's attacks. You'll also want to eat your Seaweed or Hardtack after using either The Staff or The Wand; though you're dodging Lust's direct attacks, her damage reflection can still be pretty nasty. You won't have to worry about damage reflection upon finishing her off, as Lust cannot reflect the blow that defeats her; from there picking off the Desirelings should be easy.
Baltael's Soulweaver follows a similar quick setup -> burst strategy, but because it has its own shield your dragon can get an extra turn in; if you've also trained it in Mischief it can stun one of the Desirelings or tickle Lust. The combination of Concentration and Synch should be enough to finish Lust if you're sure to proc a weapon such as Ice Scythe on Repentance beforehand; if she still survives you can finish with Soul Slice. Again, make sure to utilize your dragon's +BtH buff and a food item to get around the reflect.

Of course, these strategies are options for those who don't want to have to stack Fire resistance; if you do want to resist stack, as you're probably intended to, you have more options than just quick setup -> burst and probably won't need a food item. Without Lust's raw damage to put your feet to the fire (so to speak) you can take more turns to set up and heal; the damage reflection isn't nearly as threatening if you aren't going for insane burst.

Hope this is helpful, this is a really fun fight and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.

Well, tried the strategy and it works though those desirelings are really annoying, especially if they land a critical hit so I lost a lot because of them. I need three more fragments of ethereal longing and hopefully I'll get them later today.

I don't understand why everyone is saying that Gluttony is easier than Lust. I beat Lust pretty easily with Technomancer and Mischief pet dragon with Artix and Nythera. Simply stunned her and burst her down before she started nuking, then took care of the Desirelings fairly casually. Only about ~34 fire res.

Gluttony, on the other hand, hits really hard even after I've let him consume my buffs (did 2K damage in one turn and killed me from full health...) I can't nuke him down either. Any tips using non-DC classes?
