Ah, I was using beastform, so the 0% proc version would be better for me. But yeah, the 100% proc temp db is great against this boss.

And sure, this is the weirdest boss ever, END and CHA are the best stats for the fight! It's crazy! XD

It's a very good thing. Those 2 are the most neglected stats. End in particular had no practical use even in challenge fights
Nice to see them seeing some use.

BTW, 0 end is pretty standard. Some people like to have a bit, but imo it's the most worthless stat.

I agree in practice 0 end is standard. But I'm saying game balance wise I don't think it is, and I agree that the game should not be balanced around 0 end.

The Dragon Scepter worked wonders for me in this fight. It does 4 hits, and I was doing 100-130 damage with each hit for an easy 400-500 per turn. Though to be fair, I did land Power Z-Gauntlet's EleVuln status every stage so it did boost my damage, but even then I could beat the War-Torn Dragon without much difficulty (or at the very least in a fairly controlled fashion) with 250 INT/DEX/LCK and no pots.

But yeah, END is a LOT more useful than LCK overall in this fight, both in terms of the battle itself and the stat rolls. Just make sure to use Ambush Pot if you're going with 0 LCK so that you're guaranteed to outspeed the War-Torn Dragon.

Annihilators haven't been very common since Patch 39, tbh.

It certainly is doable for a warrior if you are willing to dump potions in Wicked King using a pair of healing guest/pet, a dark/fire shield such as Demon Wraith Prison, or Memorial Shield, and a mic to further cut the elemental damage. I used Wicked's Basic two hit attacks with an ice weapon so if you got a 3 hit ranged weapon (Such as the ice cream scoop) to make use of your high dex then you should be fine using something like the power stone when you are about to be healed can save you from those End checks if you should fail or continue to fuel your sp draining items till the final stage. Hitting up the potion shop for one of the regen potions might be well worth it for this fight to further make up for the constant tick damage for further warrior sustain. Sure this could be further refined seeing not everyone has the rare items I listed, or the Infinity Stones but if nothing else I think it's a decent start for any warrior having trouble. Hoping the upcoming fight is also a good challenge.

It is worth noting that a warrior has the same stat spread as a ranger, so you're fully capable of sitting in a FD set-up with a Dragon Bow. Granted, it's not as viable as FD mage due to Dragon Scepter being a four-hit 100% proc. (even more so when you take into account that an MP pool allows for exceedingly useful spells like Moonwalker's and Gandolphin), but it should still be doable with some luck since your autoattacks will be noticeably stronger.

The art and lore for this quest are both very nice indeed, but no spoilers on that. Instead, the reward- the Burning Question. It comes in two versions- one is a standard spell, costs MP, based on INT, does Magic damage and the other costs SP, is based on STR, and does Melee damage. Both inflict a version of Burn that also reduces the target's SP. Quite nice, and with how popular Underwyrmling was I anticipate this being a popular mage tool for challenging fights. EDIT: 5 hits, incidentally, if you want to use it with the Oni mask.

He is quite intimidating. As he should be.

And the last question at the end. That is quite the twist. But considering what happen in Dragonspine, it makes sense.

This poses all sorts of interesting questions. I'll refrain from debating spoilers, but I definitely got Pratchett vibes from this quest, especially the last portion. Also, always fun to have an excuse to use a FSB, and enemies with even resistances definitely help with that.

I did notice the 3 'main' enemies had some sort of damage gating. At first I thought they were just negating any damage from my pets or guests, but a run with my burst mage definitely said otherwise. It's neat how the last few releases have encouraged more conservative strategies.

Quick Death related question: is the reaper we fight in the morningstar quest line the same as the boatman we meet when we die?

If I had to guess, I'd say the Reaper and Boatman are more along the lines of beings like Carnage, Panic, and Mayhem. They're beings that serve under one of the Horsemen, but independently of each other.
The Boatman ferries the dead, while the Reaper hunts down overdue souls.

YIKES. The end of this quest is not just a spoiler, it is THE spoiler for Adventure Quest. PLEASE, no one ever mention it, except when directly asked, via PM.

...all I'm gonna say is this makes the showdown with Zhilo much more interesting and important than I'd been expecting.

((@Ryu You were fine, I guess I wasn't quite clear on that. sorry))

I must say, Cray really outdid himself this time.

First of all, I quite like the walkaround format, it's a noticable and welcome departure from the standard 'fight x monsters to fight the boss monster' with occasional cutscenes.

I loved the three boss monsters, though I'm not sure I recognized everyone from the second boss' attack. Also, would it be possibe to give a list of the third boss' quotes? I'm not sure I caught all of them, and I'd hate to miss a single thing.

I like quite a few things about the design of death, whom we finally see, - a sentient realm, wandering around re-gathering your anima (is that a different name for a soul? Or a component of it?), the spirit form and his manner of speech.

The grand reveal, is of course, incredible, but the way death said that the Chosen was chosen not for any single task makes me wonder... were we always meant to become who we are now? Did the other powers, like The'Galin, Falerin, Erebus and the Elemental Lords know about it?

Oh, and the reward is quite interesting as well. As with the last quest, we get a pretty cool spell that's not quite meta, but very niche and unique, so kudos for that.

Aside from the quest itself, it seems we're at least 2/3 of the way done with the prophecy, and we've even got a line from the third part. Dreams twisted and cold makes me think of the nightmare realm, and the world's veins are clearly the ley lines, which the Watcher seems quite interested in. Now that we know who Death can't hold the line about the hourglass turning seems rather ominous, though...

Pretty sure the Reaper and The Boatman are 2 beings in their own right although from the Hollow in Heck Quests I think the Boatman is the senior in the relationship seeing he could command the Reaper to fight out character. Granted the Reaper can act independently with the Morningstar Quest, and the flavor text of him Reaping zombies giving some weight to that. Granted the control think might just be a left over thing from when the Boatman appeared, and Classic Death was retired so it may just be a holdover for story reasons/ a granted perk of the position he holds. I will say it does give some reason for The Boatman's rewards being somewhat in the shape of his boss even if only vaguely if that is a subtle hint of the concept of made in the image of our Lord that can be taken form real-world faith depending on how you interpret the texts. That last bit may be wrong but the idea did strike me as I wrote this so I'd thought I'd add it in to see what other's thought at least.

Yes, I am curious how does this reveal connect itself with other quest in the game. Did only Death know or did everyone know?

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh, lovely quest lovely quest~

A shame it was kinda laggy, and the full heal being only at the start made the back and forth a tad annoying, but I still loved it nonetheless, great job~

Some clarification regarding the quest's ending that came from Cray on discord. You shouldn't read this if you haven't played the latest quest already:
spoiler:

When the Burning Solstice, the confluence of fire, shines on Lore, the mantle -- if vacant -- is passed down to a worthy successor: The greatest warrior. You destroyed War during this event, before his profane altar could solidify his hold on a power he had long since become unworthy of. You are no mere avatar this time, Chosen, though your concern for your status is noted.
*hype intensifies*

@Primate Murder Cray gave me the script for the quest, so I could make the pedia write up without needing to worry about double checking everything to make sure I made no typos and the like~

Make sure to give him your thanks everyone! He is helping a lot with those write ups! \(^^)/

Anyways, if you think you missed any of the pop ups in the third fight, you can see everything here.

Mhm. Pretty cool quest, but the ending wasn't exactly a twist, considering we were given the following stanza beforehand;

A great flame defies the waning of its kin
Usurped once, now grasped at once more
But it shan’t blaze true in a pretender’s skin
And will be reclaimed from Death’s door

It was all but confirmed when Zhilo, who "went even further than the original War ever did," was referred to as a mere "pretender." Besides, it makes sense... Regardless of intent, the Chosen is heavily involved in virtually every significant battle and the game's catchphrase is literally "Battle On"...

J9408: As far as I understand it there was nothing to know beforehand.
This reveal is based on what happened in the last few quests and should have no impact on older story lines (which is a great way to avoid massive plot holes).
