So for quests that say: "you will receive one of the following items", I've assumed in my experience that you will not receive an item if it is already in your inventory, and will be guaranteed to give you the other item, with nulgath's facebreaker as a good example, but do quests like this consider your bank as well? I'm asking this before considering buying magical keys. Am I good to move anything I get from the treasure chest into my bank?

You don't have to retrieve your TC items from your bank, since items from the Treasure Chest automatically transfers into your Inventory (Will not drop the same reward, despite being banked). Quests such as "Kindness of Nulgath" for example, is different, since you have to manually accept the dropped item. (Will drop the same reward, despite being banked).
