spoiler:

There's no equivalent to the Savior and Destroyer in AQ's lore. Tiamoth would be a distant parallel of the ancient dragon who bore Sepulchure's fortress.

A bit late but,
quote:

It's pretty obvious that the H-Series armor was specifically designed for this new balance change. Likely a way of testing it out how effective and useful it might be for warriors, who stand to benefit most.
I originally had this idea when we released Abyssal Hydrocampus Rider and you all universally panned it. Then,

Cray: ...and give it +Init Boost!
Me, still bitter over AHR: Y'know players don't usually care for that.
Me: Actually, I had an idea.
Everyone: Sure, can't hurt.

I feel like AHR would have been much better received it was were originally a Common box. And there are generally a few issues that it would have gone a long way to address:

1. In the early game, there is not much reason to train anything except MAINSTAT + DEX, unless you are class questing (which itself needs to be addressed), hence monsters going first a LOT early on due to the lack of invest-able stats for LUK.

2. Assassin is not available early on, and the scaling of that quest makes it prohibitive to train at level 70 (which is the hard level requirement) and actually requires you to be around level 100 because of how strong Wallow, Shii, and the Gladiator Arena Ambush Gang are. Though as I noted in that other thread that class quest QOL changes are a difficult thing to address.

3. That potion training is extremely difficult to do early on because of the quests that are also irregularly scaled (looking at you Aria's Animal Rescue!)

4. Equipment scaling is rather poor early on with gaps of 15-20 levels being the norm between tiers.

5. The general lack of Primary Water options for armors that are not premium, rare, seasonal or a combination of those categories. Kindred exists but is MC so it makes it fairly difficult to access early on. Subraces have water but these options are not available until much later in the game. So that leaves us with WHEEL.

Nonetheless, I am very thankful of the recent balance changes, and this pair of changes will go a very long way to making Warrior/Rangers actually playable early on, along with making them much more viable for the end game too.

@PD
Rare box since initiative is an MC bonus. Commons are always non-MC'd. I do agree with the other sentiments. I'd further add that its 1-hit attack with a negative bth lean means it is a fairly unreliable armor, especially at the lower levels when characters have fairly low bth due to low stats while monsters can still have high MRM, and lower levels are when the initiative boost can be best felt because luck's tertiary status means it's almost always trained last. Assassin also has prohibitively high stat rolls that make it even harder to do at level 70. This is itself a symptom of the problem that stat rolls are just much harder to pass at lower levels with both low stats and low SP.

This is the most I've warred in years and possibly the most I've ever done with my current character. Feeling pretty satisfied about that.

@Primate Murder: Fluffy is the Dracolich that Sepulchure rides directly. The castle Dracolich would be Victorious.

@Veral

Huh, I must have missed that. It does make sense in retrospect... Would you mind sharing a link to the quest where Victorious' name is mentioned?

Thanks!

@Robyn: OH yeah that's right. Thanks for the correction. As I said earlier I am hoping that one day we'll get dedicated updates for the lower levels. Playing again freshly on my extra chars really was not that fun. (except for the new mage char, early game mage is virtually cheat mode).

Side note: Got my 2500 kills finally. The war is going pretty fast (51% as of this post) and I felt that I had to do it quickly if I wanted to get the rewards in time. Looking forward to seeing what the Spell and Stormglaive will do in terms of effects.

When I try to use my house guards to fight, it says that there are no active war battlegrounds, and my gold value temporarily changes to undefined, until I log out and go back in.

@Primate Murder: Sepulchure kills this: http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/victorious and then reanimates it.

spoiler:

So as of this post we are now at 70%. This war has been going very, very quickly and although I don't think we'll be finishing before the next release I think we'll be done by the end of the week for sure. Am looking forward to the rewards for sure.

So it seems that Tiamoth has been literally cut in half after we seem to have finally penetrated its forcefield. I can't help but wonder about the consequences of the debris that has scattered around. We're shown a scene of part of Tiamoth landing on a mountainside. Perhaps Erebus will come back to scavenge the debris once he's done with his other affairs?

Quick question. I have played AQ forever but it's been off and on and recently I have been playing more. I have never been one to sit there and kill war mobs over and over and over, but I know nowadays they hand out rewards to those that hit a targeted number of kills. Are these rewards typically average items, better than average, always mastercrafted, or how would you all describe them?

I am curious because I am torn about the idea. On one hand, I do think some incentive to participate was needed. On the other hand, if the items are very very good it kind of isnt fair to players who dont have time to get say, 1000 kills.

The reward for war kills (top 2500) is not the items themselves. At the end of the war everyone can get the items in the shop, the only difference is in the art. Maybe a different color than what everyone has.

That is correct. Those are pretty much going to be re-skins of the actual rewards, and don't have different stats than the ones that will be regularly available. One reason to get them anyways besides for yourself is that most of the time the weapons are scaling so if you have a secondary character it will be ideal to fill in as a niche because early on there are large gaps in level tiers so always being able to have the most powerful version due to scaling is a massive advantage in of itself, not to mention the huge savings due to not needing to upgrade your items or rebuying them.

There are warring builds that should allow you to gain multiple kills per minute, and with good enough setup, perhaps even more. And doing that would net you around 100-200 kills per hour. At least for this war the strategy a lot of people used was using Tempest Power Armor and a damage-boosting weapon along with some relevant guests to be able to 1/2-turn most enemies. What I did to pass the time was watch some Youtube videos while also warring to keep myself from getting bored.

True, i changed build to full warrior from backlash. With the new initiative armor and 100 momentum i been killing monsters with one attack, maybe two unless it's the ones with 8k plus health. Already finished with 2500 and plus. I stopped attacking to give more people chances to get to 2500, considering the war is going very fast.

My items this war. H-Series Tempest Armor. Chief of Iron Thorn, Savage Troll Club. Shining Aura Potion.

Wonder if more waves will be added to the war. This war is going to end before this Sunday if this keeps up (75% as of typing this) ... gonna drink coffee and maybe get 2500 kills by pushing myself a bit harder.

I wouldn't expect there to be. Remember that we aren't that far from the Paxia War, which is probably a factor in why this war is so lenient, don't want to risk overlapping or delaying.

Looking at how fast the war meter has been filling up compared to the Top Character Wins, it might be worth looking into up-ing the win requirements to end the war due to the estate update.

With the increased amount of resources that are pooled into army wins, this is just an idea.

Also, this is the first time I'm trying to reach the 2.5k wins for the rewards. Holy Zardspit, how do you guys get through so many wins every war?!

Creative!

@Xander It takes having a build and equipment that can get you down to the minimum battle time(around 17-20 seconds), memorizing where to click and having the graphics tuned to an efficient setting so things are even more streamlined, and, as D.U.M pointed out, having lots of free time. ^_^; If you're getting let's say around 150 wins an hour, five hours of warring would get you about 750 wins, which would get you 2500 wins in about four days. While it can be pretty time consuming, for me it can be almost meditative, like going on a long walk; breaks for snacks and some music in the background help too.

And for a while I was scared to use any of my estate resources, because this was going so fast. But to be honest, IMO, having a shorter war every now and then is nice.

I'm glad to hear the war win variants are just reskins. On the other hand, a reskin isnt going to motivate me to get to goals. Blah. I'm glad others are motivated, as I dont like wars that drag out

Wars are mostly just a fun community thing, if you don't have a drive to war without a "meaningful" reward, then you can opt out. Nobody really wants to feel forced into aspects of games they don't enjoy.

100%, the war's over!

spoiler:

So the Scornshard Glaive is a Ranged Spear. It can swap between Dark and Energy. After your attack it has a chance to inflict Fear on your enemies. It'll serve a good niche for Rangers looking for coverage along with a weapon that can inflict fear for potential Fear Eater combos.

Ancestral Forbiddence is a spell that inflicts a Water Burn and/or a Choke on the enemy. It deals no damage. Burn Eaters will love it of course.

Now as to the lore, it looks like Raikenin was helping us all along, and is of course as he is because it keeps whoever is on his tail guessing. Also rather humorous that there's a reference to Cerin's prominent chin that is worthy of being Habsburg-ian in nature. But I actually didn't know he was subservient to the Water Lord. I thought Frogzards were Earth-based? On the sight of Tyranna and her Demon Knights, progress has been made between the Knight Factions which is good although it is obvious that there is still a lot of distrust between them.
