With the Summer Season of Gifting contest in its final week, we'd love to get input from the winners on what they'd like to see from their prizes, especially the armor! We are also planning to include shop access with the Frostwyrm Rider items this year so players can purchase extra copies for their other characters!

This contest will end September 5th 11:59PM EST!

For my suggestion (ARMOR) i would like it to be an Ice Backlash Set and inflict Ice Backlash (using your MainStat if possible), that has an Ice elevuln skill on top for the armor (instead of Doomlight Aura) and maybe a 3rd skill that has Thermal Shock to have further synergy with the Ice Backlash theme. I am more about Ice Backlash-Freeze style leaning on this armor.

For Pet, a dedicated Ice Backlash Pet(with MC going into scaling 50/50 with Mainstat/CHA) toggled to a Thermal Shock Pet (yes i know we already have one top 50 Thermal Shock pet).

For Shield, an Elemental Vulnerability Potency Shield would be nice and would have synergy with other items as well.

For weapon, a Shark Sabre clone but for Ice Backlash instead of Bleed that trades maybe more damage 50% damage for Ice Backlash effect with a +20 Backlash Potency effect as MC.

For misc, Backlash Potency misc and maybe add a targeted scramble of only Ice element to different element instead of a full scramble? Like scramble Ice with the element that is below it for example and push all elements 1 element below in that order as part of a rotation.

Is it possible to use this thread to discuss how these donations are done just in general and make possible suggestions? In the discussion thread I have already voiced my dissatisfaction with how they are done in general.
We will look through your contest suggestions, but let's please keep the discussion here to just ideas for the set items. ~Hollow

Anyways, Id probably like to see this set work like paragon fiend rider with a mounted/unmounted mode with an additional special attack to freeze the enemy, with the complementary pieces having freeze potency. I think this will probably be a good first baseline well considering that Veywild was a petrify based set

I just want to say the shop is very welcome and something that was sorely needed. I sincerely hope that this becomes the norm for future donations. It would also be really nice to have the Winter Donation items getting a shop too.

Since I don't think I will be going for the armour this year, I won't include it in my suggestions.

Weapon: Clone of the Lightcaster weapon from crossover GGBs but for Thermal Shock instead.

Shield: Compresses a spell/skill that trades all of its damage and some HP to inflict a quick-cast Fragile effect on the mob. It will have a cooldown to prevent spam.

Pet: I agree with Gwen/Cloud. Ice Backlash pet with a toggle for a Thermal Shock mode.

Misc: Ice Backlash misc (END vs Mob END). Gives +50CHA and the rest of the power +MC is funnelled into an Ice Backlash effect.

I would like to see a ice burn set that is fully offensive

Armor: has a toggle that attempts to inflicts ice burn every turn.
Its 2nd skill will be a bite with the frost wyrm that inflicts ice elevuln.

Weapon: has magic/melee/ranged toggles or variations that deal more damage to burned enemies or can toggled to a mode that inflicts burn based on damage dealt.

Shield: Heals players each turn based on power level of damage over time effects on monster

Misc: burn potency + ice damage reduction or burn + elemental vulnerability potency

Pet: 1st mode inflicts burn. 2nd mode heals player sp and triggers on burned enemies to heal more sp.

Excited for shaping this set. Thanks Hollow for taking our input once again this year! :) I do like some of LUPUL's thoughts on the set with some more flavor options to hopefully make this a diverse and worthy reward:

1) Armor - A fully offensive lean type with Ice as the main element having 3 skills with possibly the third skill being paid for by a -MRM (if needed). Toggles between Mounted (normal)/Dismounted (ice lock/elecomp) modes.
Skill 1: Ice Backlash mode, this is a Toggle for the armor so FO builds can have this as an option and not as a strictly dedicated part of the armor.
Skill 2: Thermal Shock, as I suggested to LUPUL earlier on this part of the set and since we have very little of this in-game. Otherwise an effective Freeze infliction skill.
Skill 3: Ice Elemental Vulnerability or alternatively, a basic weapon EleComp skill.

2) Pet - Ice Backlash Pet with a Thermal Shock toggle. Agree with LUPUL on this one. Otherwise a Freeze toggle. :)

3) Weapon - An Ice (melee/ranged/magic) toggle version of Savage Troll Club for the FO aspect of the armor when not engaged in Backlash Skill 1 mode.

4) Shield - Elemental Vulnerability Potency Shield with a built-in ice element SP/MP spell (paid for by all the Z-Tokens we spent for this Summer's donation contest) :)

5) Misc. Item - Thermal Shock/potency with a passive 50 END/CHA/LUK. Alternatively, Freeze/potency with a passive 50 INT/STR/LUK.

6) Background - And most importantly, as suggested last year, a Background Art change sending the mob into an Icy Realm mountainous/frozen tundra upon successful Thermal Shock infliction (for example). It could even be taking last year's art and making it look icy with white/frozen trees and snowy crystal structures in place of the forest themed look of Veywild. Perhaps a crystalline ice castle/spire with fire-breathing dragons flying in the distance. Also, we could have orbs of tiny floating fire embers to play off the Thermal Shock aspects emanating from the Dragon.

7) Full Set Bonus - If one is given it could be a simple +10% bonus to Thermal Shock + Ice Elevuln potency effects to synergize with the other set elements listed here.

8) Spell - (If one is added like last year) A 1-turn Ice element Dracomorgrify type spell with SP/MP options. Transforms monster into full dragon the way Demomorphosis works.

Addendum - Only if Skill 1 is not possible on the armor then either the Spell listed as #8 above or a version of The Cold infliction Spell. Could also swap out for Skill 3 to keep the Skill 1 Backlash.

Theme is make them numb from the cold then knock their weapon out of their hand.

Armor: FO. All hits have a chance to cause potent numb. If you use the ice skill while the monster is numb you have a chance of disarming them. The more numb the more likely the disarm (monster take penalty to roll = to numb)

Weapon: If monster's dex < Orginal dex weapon does 10% + extra damage. If monster is disarmed weapon gains 50% hypercritical

Shield: If you block the hit of the monster pay some hp inflict harm damage. (reminiscent of cutting edge shield or dirk misc). Click to shield to grant the monster celerity and greatly increase the damage on block. (Works with backlash for all the backlash fanatics here)

Pet: Numb potency. Toggle to steal dex from monster and give to you. If pet give you disarm potency as well

Misc: Click to pay SP and attempt to numb the monster. If monster is already numb you instead pay to disarm the monster

Full set bonus: Disarm last for two turns instead of one

Wow, we're going early this year! Thanks for the shop access @Hollow, it's great to be able to use the rewards on multiple chars.

Here are my suggestions:

Armor

Very similar to @Cloud and @LUPUL LUNATIC's suggestions, I talked it out with Cloud. This is just how I imagine it working, balance wise.

FO Ice Armor. Can toggle between Mounted/Dismounted, in mounted does normal attacks and in dismounted locked to ice with elecomp. Mastercraft is a skill that changes depending on whether Mounted/Dismounted. Pays mrm for a backlash toggle.

In Mounted Form, has access to an spell-based ice skill that pays damage to inflict ice elemental vulnerability, main stat (STR/DEX/INT) vs enemy DEX. Skill's damage type (melee/ranged/magic) follows weapon damage type.

In Dismounted form, has access to a spell-based fire skill that pays damage to inflict one turn of thermal shock (the dragon breathes fire on the enemy!), main stat vs enemy END. Causes a permanent background change if successful. I'm thinking like a mix-up of ice/glaciers and fire, since this is an ice dragon that's breathing fire - sort of like A Song of Ice and Fire (we are riding dragons after all.) Skill's damage type (melee/ranged/magic) follows weapon damage type. If thermal shock/fire is not thematic enough, an ice skill that inflicts freeze is good too.

Backlash Toggle: Does ice backlash status effect, player main stat (STR/DEX/INT) vs enemy DEX. Available whether mounted or dismounted as its paid for by mrm, not the MC.

Pet

Same as Cloud and Lupul, thermal shock/ice backlash toggle pet. Again, if thermal shock is too much of a stretch, then freeze/ice backlash toggle.

Weapons

I agree with Cloud's ice Savage Troll Club suggestion, especially with the mounted/dismounted aspect.

Shield

I agree with Cloud and Lupul that it should be a potency shield, I just think it should give generic potency (-10 to everything for the monster). I think that's most useful with all the effects flying around (elevuln, backlash, thermal shock) and also more generically useful, as a lot more players will have shield than weapon/pet/armor.

Misc

I think it should do just ice backlash (Main stat vs enemy DEX), as high as a misc can give that effect. This is generically useful for all backlash builds and also players who use angra/EoC as booster pets/guests. Backlash potency is not as necessary, what with doomlight, paladin, and necromancer existing and my proposed shield effect giving potency to every status effect. This also fills an additional item slot for backlash characters, as right now the only backlash source from the misc zone is dragonsblood charm, which only triggers against dragons.

Seeing as how the big winners will be whales, I am going to assume those guys already have easy access to the damage cap, against most monsters, especially through the use of Prime Chaos Orb! So I would like to suggest something besides EleVuln etc.

Shield: provides Pet/Guest Bonus to Hit for an upkeep cost;
Misc: Porcelain Teapot clone, but for DEX or CHA. Ice Element;
Weapon: You take increased damage, but your Pet/Guest will deal more damage;
Pet: ???
Armour: ???

Will edit later.

Backlash has become something of a go-to when it comes to these things, so I thought I'd try something different.

Armor

MC: Initiative Boost.*

-3 MRM pays for 2 skills:

- One is a standard weapon-based ice skill. (I don't think we have one of those yet)

- Second is a spell-type skill that sacrifices all damage to inflict Frozen Soul status (-50*IceRes*EleComp End; power 5*EleComp ice burn). Monster makes a save to shake off the status (MainStat/Luck vs Cha/Luck; +10 bonus, or -20 penalty if monster's Afraid or Panicked), and repeats it on every subsequent turn. Costs sp of a standard skill.

*The dragon's sense of smell helps you detect trouble before it detects you!

Weapon

MC: Heals 7.5% melee sp when the monster is Panicked.

Toggles between two modes:

- One sacrifices 25% damage to inflict Panic ((25*DamageDealt/ExpectedMeleeDamage)% damage reduction). Monster can shake off the effect (MainStat/Luck vs Cha/Luck) with +8 bonus to save.

- Second pays 25% melee sp and you loose 6 MRM. All your pet and guest attacks autohit.

Shield

MC effect is a toggle.* Pay 20% melee, and after your pet or guest's turn, monster becomes Panicked ((5*HitsConnected)% damage reduction). It can shake off the effect (Cha/Luck vs Cha/Luck) with +8 bonus to save.

*While heavy and a little unwieldy, this shield certainly helps you and your friends look intimidating.

Pet

MC: +10 Mental Potence.

Toggles between 3 modes:

- Inflicts you with power:1 ice Burn for one round. You heal sp equal to 5.625x Burn damage.

- Inflicts you with power:1 ice Burn for one round. You heal mp equal to 7.5x Burn damage.

- Leeches heat from the monster, inflicting it with power:4 ice Burn for one round. If the infliction is successful, you gain Elemental Empowerment (ice, +40% damage) for the same duration. Monster can resist (Cha/Luck vs End/Luck) with +0 bonus to save.

Misc

Gives Cha and increased ice damage.

MC effect is a quickcast skill.* If the monster is panicking, you can click on the mask to consume the effect and heal sp based on Panic power.

*Restore your spirits by feeding on (MonsterName)'s Panic!

Here are some ideas for stuff! Just silly kinda wild things.

Weapon: M/R/M Ice weapon that attempts to inflict Offbalanced/Numb for a couple turns with every hit. It has a one percent rate special that automatically hits and inflicts Numb for several turns.

Armor: A status lean armor, which gives the player Numb and Frozen Potency in exchange for taking increased damage. It is Ice element and pays some defenses to deal increased damage to Numb or Frozen monsters. It comes with a skill that attempts to convert the Numb status into the Frozen status.

Shield: An Ice shield that attempts to inflict Numb for a couple turns on the monster after the player blocks a hit. Pays some of one of its defenses to automatically deal some Ice damage to Numb monsters each turn.

Misc. Item: Gives multiplicative Ice resistance, and also reduces Ice damage taken by a flat number. It heals the player's HP some if the enemy is Numb/Frozen at the end of their turn, and once a battle can cleanse a Numb/Frozen status on the player for free.

Pet: Has two modes: one attempts to remove the Frozen and Numb statuses to deal increased damage, and the other deals reduced damage and makes the player take less damage from Numb enemies.

IDK. ^_^; regardless of how the set turns out I'm sure it'll be... cool.

.*. .*. .*.
Pfft hahaha!

Just tossing out a few nutty ideas.

  • Armour
MC effect: FD/FO armour and can toggle between mounted and dismounted with 1 skill in FD mode.

In FD mode, a quick cast skill can be used once per round and does no damage, however the skill inflicts "Snowblind" which attempts to blind the monster and also causes Ice EleVuln for 2 rounds, at the cost of making the monster gain 50% hypercritical for 2 rounds.
Skill is stackable for both player and monster.

In FO mode it is locked to Ice, however if the monster is affected by "Snowblind", it will also passively attempt to inflict Iceburn healing your hp. Stackable status.

  • Weapon
MC effect: Ice weapon toggles between melee/ranged/magic with no special. +10 to Iceburn

When you attack it passively attempts to inflict Iceburn healing your hp. Stackable status.

  • Pet
MC effect: +20 potency for "Snowblind" and Ice Elevuln.

Toogle between 100% damage, or at the cost of 25% pet damage it will inflict Ice EleVuln. Stackable status

  • Shield
MC effect: If equippped while using one of the quick cast skills from the misc, it has a 25% chance to double the effect, but only once per battle for either of the quick cast skills.
It will also double the damage from the self inflicted element seeking burn to heal the monster double, and also double the amount of rounds.

Whenever you block a hit with the shield, it attempts to inflict Iceburn healing your hp.

  • Misc
    MC effect: +10 to Iceburn

Defensive Ice misc with +50 DEX and +50 CHA and comes with 2 quick cast skills which can be used once per battle and only 1 skill per round.
1 skill - empower yourself with 50% hypercritical for 1 round.
2 skill - cast "Hypothermia" a renamed freeze with 100% success rate for 1 round.
If either of the skills are used, you also inflict an element seeking burn to yourself, which results in healing the monster for 3 rounds. Stackable status.

Full set bonus: +10 for "Snowblind", Iceburn and Ice EleVuln.

We actually do have Terra Suul which has a weapon-based skill that does Ice.

The general consensus/theme for the Set is : You have your Ice elelocked attacks as one of your main sources of damage which then you add effects like Ice Backlash (to actually reward you more if your using the armor against Fire monsters) and Ice Elevuln that basically boosts both your Ice Backlash and Ice ele-locked attacks immensely. Thermal Shock is there because the status has the least support currently in-game thats why we went with Thermal Shock instead of Freeze.

Also because the Dragon can breath Fire you know! Like we have Ancient ReignDragon Rider which is a Dragon that has a Fire spell-based skill that Burns so its not completely out of the questiion thematically.

All these effects have great synergies between them even moreso if the Pet would become a dedicated Ice Backlash Pet (rewarding you even more for going against Fire monsters in your Ice armor).

Armor- Ice main element, fire secondary Maybe 39 ice, 41 or 42 fire.
Lean Toggle- This changes the art.
FD mode- Art-Riding it. High blocking. Enables a new status staff will need to code! In FD mode, gains a status that gives a massive accuracy boost to RANGED since your on high ground and have a tactical advantage.
FO Mode- Standing next to it, animation similar to Necromancer where you're controlling it and the frost wyrm doing the damage.

2 Skills- 1. Skill that has a high rate to freeze. Low damage or no damage to pay for very high freeze rate.
    2. Skill that inflicts a dual Ice and fire ele vuln similar to werepyre guests. 50% Vuln.

    Pet- Toggles Both cost SP-
    1. Freeze mode, further decreased damage for higher freeze rate by spending a little SP
    2. Ele vuln mode, dual elements of fire and ice similar to werepyre guests, less damage than normal for slightly higher ele vuln for a little SP
    No SP, does nothing

    Shield- Toggles-
    1. On a successful block, the monster is inflicted with The Cold. -5 bth, per block. Stacks
    2. On a landed hit, it backlashes a 2% ice and fire vuln on the monster. Landed hits stack.

Weapon- Toggles all modes-melee/ranged/Bow/magic/wand. All accurate lean
    2 specials- Each 12.5% Rate
    1. 5 hits. On successful landed hit, inflicts The Cold -5 per landed hit, for up to -25%.
    2. 5 hits (different animation) Inflict dual ele vuln of ice and fire of 10% per landed hit for a total of 50% fire and ice ele vuln

    Misc- Toggles 2 modes
    1. Every landed weapon, pet, guest, and spell attack of the ICE element, you have a 5% chance to freeze the monster.
    2. Every landed weapon, pet, guest, and spell attack of the ICE element, you have a 5% chance to inflict a dual ice and fire ele vuln of 15%.

FSB- Standard amount Ice ele comp applied to all ice attacks from weapons , pets, guests, and spells.

    So powerful! Beat this!!

I will be going for the Shield and Misc so I will suggest what I would like to see on those prizes.

Shield: +10 potency to inflicting any status on the monster

Misc: Once per battle: Click to Pay hp to get a universal +30% damage for the rest of the battle and you take +(100/1.4)% damage for the rest of the battle. The damage boost and damage received boost stays if you remove the misc.

    Fine Sapphire,

I do like the equipment functionalities that Lupul suggested especially the weapon with 20 backlash potency stated in post #: 2
(as backlash without potency boost is really inconsistent)
    http://forums2.battleon.com/f/fb.asp?m=22395321

Or make the pet give 20 backlash potency instead

    There, happy now?

Armor: MO with a neutral toggle in dismount form if it even gets that. 2 skills. One is an ice breath attack similar to what chimeran armor has and the other is a no damage freeze effect. Normal attack is 2 hits. And it respects weapon specials.

Weapon: Bonus damage against frozen enemies or ones which are unable to move. Chance to freeze on hit.

Shield: Freeze on a block or cause numb effect.

Misc: Endurance booster with ice resist. If enemy is frozen you can click it to consume the freeze and heal your sp. Effect used once per fight.

Pet: Ice backlasher with a toggle to boost your mrm defenses by stealing them from your target. HP cost to do this with the named effect of that upkeep being Frostbite. You take some ice damage.

In response to @Broccoli, since he mentioned me and last year's Veywild suggestions, I would like to add some context. Yes, my suggestions were largely implemented and yes, I was #7 and he was #4. However, my armor suggestion received support from 10+ people in the top 15, including #1, #2, and I believe #3. As for the rest of the suggestions, I think they got implemented because they were good suggestions that fit the look of the set.

However, I agree that top 15 should not have any more say than anyone else besides, of course, in the armor. Also I totally agree with the 100 proc option - those are always fun and usually underrepresented.

As for the armor, once top 15 settles tonight at midnight, I am going to try and get as many in the top 15 as possible to come together and agree on a general outline for the armor.

If you are in the top 15 or plan to compete for it, please PM me here or reply in this thread so I can reach out. Already have a group with some of them.

I like the idea of thermal shock as a status on the armor (mainly cause I missed out on the other thermal shock item). But having it/freeze on backlash armor seems counter intuitive? I don't play backalsh but it seems to me you would want to get hit in a backlash build?

I always planned on using cryo doomlight for a potential backlash build (I know it is a $100 set but anyone is anywhere close to top 15 has spent way more than 100 USD).

    I like .*. .*. .*. suggestion on the armor.

Backlash doesn't always have to be damage...it could be status infliction. I would agree if you're wanting normal damaging backlash AND a freeze (paralyze), that it'd be counter intuative, but if the landed hit causes a freeze backlash instead of damage, that's not a bad thing at all.

Also, Im against backlash for this set due to the frost doomlight set being out there. There's already WAY too many instances where we have the SAME effect for the SAME element. If they're going to go with backlash, it needs flavor..like what Ive already discussed.

    OK that makes more sense.

    I agree with this point.

For the mounted version of the armor, I think a high dodge armor would make thematic sense. And pair well with the cryo chrono shield (which would give the freeze status) or the shield from this set could synergize with blocking.

Glad you like that part of the set idea. The main reason I requested it earlier was because of how very little of it we have in-game plus for the unique synergy it has with this year's

As to this, we're specifically asking for ice backlash, not normal harm backlash. This differentiates it from doomlight and all other backlash sources; the only elemental backlash we have now is dreadfiend, which does dark backlash.
