Asking what Chrono you might want to get is not as much as what class you (role)play with or what Base Class you have but what degree of combat you play. If you are a natural or an aspirant for endgame (Inn) combat, Archivist remains on top with SWoT close behind. General purpose, TK is fine, particularly since last year anti-Extra Action (think Celerity considering your previous "returning player" inquiries from AQ) mechanics debuted in DF. If you want to be an oddball, CZ and AoT are okay. Chronomancer and -corruptor are bad investments due to being only facelifts (art differences only, no skill changes) since: - Archi gained two new skills, its auras behave slightly differently now, and can finally be used in general questing since its skill CDs now reset at the end of each battle. The only fly in the ointment being long animations.
- SWoT's Decay skill received a DoT, allowing it to have a rounded kit (there are opponents with passive Deathproof), and its Shadow aura no longer displays in the Status menu (the gauge above the Attack button is still there to tell you how much Shadows you have).
- AoT received only a facelift, but at least its power output is still within modern combat standards. Just don't make the mistake of activating Temporal Reset. That is no Purple Rain.
- CZ has is Extra Action skill quicker to reload, but not as quick as, say, SWoT's Umbra and Antumbra (when you need to prematurely end Shadow mode) or Archi's Orb+Kathool combo. Otherwise, still mostly tries to brute force its way through targets.
- TK's shielding is still BDP, but now functional (can actually defend you instead of just reflect some damage back to their sources). Also gained an indicator of how many Arbalest charges you have.
For any questions about stat preferences and skill rotations, please refer to their DF Endgame wiki pages (except AoT. It has a page there but doesn't have either data mentioned).
