Absolutely adore the Trickster set, especially the armor.

Question- Outside of preforming the normal armor attack, the celerity from Multifarious Mastery seems to trigger from somethings and not others. Is this supposed to be the case? Any chance we could get the celerity for all first turn actions (while remaining in armor of course)?

It is looking like Monday for the armor! Ianthe needs a bit more time to work on its final skill and to make sure nothing explodes.

I'm curious how the whole set function. The armor is looking to be defensive, and you rely on burn for damage. There is choke too, to further decrease the damage received, maybe enough to use even against fire monsters? Though for mage it looks like it won't be sustainable, since it's on spell only and the magic weapon's toggle doesn't inflict on its own but through ice spells (the toggle decrease ice spell damage for the additional Ice Burn/Choke status, but this spell is already doing 0 damage anyway just to inflict strong Ice Burn/Choke).

The magic weapon has the nicest look but a useless effect. Might be better if it had a special with which it inflicted the status rather than rely on ice spell use. Melee version is pretty much perfect.

I love the Trickster set, it's got a killer aesthetic and guaranteed celerity is always fun.

I'm much more excited for the giftbox set though because I've been waiting for a good Ice-element mage set that isn't the Ice Necromancer Cavalry. No shade to Ice Necromancer but it's kind of distracting seeing that giant dracolich mount in cutscenes.

The giftbox delivery pet is too plain I think. There's way way way too many burn pets. Choke mode is fine, as thats not widespread. However, considering this is a defensive set, wouldn't it make more sense to change the pet's burn mode into a burn EATER mode? This throws a bone to BM's, and provides some potential offense for them.

The pet becomes instantly way way better. The burns durations are too many turns, and the pet's being a 2 turn burn means stacking is slow as heckate and it greatly hinders the entire thing. For example, if I cast the spell, the 6 turn burn is 3.1 power. Then after the pet goes 2x from BoW, it only becomes 4.43. Not worth it. Making this a burn EATER , like I said, instantly makes this a lot better.

The final armor gift box has opened! Thank you again to all of our players, and especially The Guardians, for being the stalwart protectors of our realm! Enjoy your gifts as we look forward to making 2024 another amazing year with you in AdventureQuest!

I agree with Sapphire. A burn eater pet sounds much more interesting, Ice burn's are already common.

As for the armor, it is great! It has useful status effects and useful resistances. I love "monster" looking armors, much more interesting than the usual standard. This armor is great for tanks.

Just want to say a huge thank you to the team for putting together this visually gorgeous set!

My favorite piece is the armor, love the almost Carnax like town on the shoulders, and the pet is so adorable. I like the look of the shield too.

Also, thank you Ianthe for working on the armor (if I heard correctly). I think this is the first ever armor skill we've had that swaps from weapon based to spell type depending on held weapon, which I think is really cool

Can't help but agree with Grace. Staff really went the extra mile here, adding totally unexpected little extras like unique potion and death animations.

Thanks for the wonderful items!

Both Delivery and Giftbox sets were pretty good practically though art leaves much to be desired on the giftbox set lol. I'd have to say they're mostly for FD Rangers and FD Warriors to a smaller extent (hope that exists soon). I hope Mages get something in the near future, really nothing much for us the entirety of the Frostval release. Overall I'm really pleased with how they turned out even though I'm no fan of FD builds.

Also, I would like to suggest for the Melee lock to remain as an option for the 3rd skill on the delivery set. I understand it's meant to be for Rangers but rather than replacing it, just add another Ranged toggle option on it as well, that way, both Rangers and Warriors can use the armor.

The set looks amazing, I personally won't be using the armor since FD isn't my style but I really do enjoy the way it looks and will def be using the rest of the items

Both set are fun, and both looks are excellent in their own way. I'm loving them.

The trickster's set is currently my favorite. I thought since I was mage, the set wouldn't as useful since 2nd and 3rd skill convert to melee, but upon testing the 3rd skill, I'm still doing similar damage when doing normal attack. So despite being converted to melee, the damage style use my weapon type (magic) to calculate stat bonus, awesome Nevermind, I was testing it on the training drakel, but testing on a lvl 150 wind dragon, far too many times I miss, even with a BTH misc, so I don't think it worked the way I thought. Plus I forgot the elecomp, I should be doing much more damage normally, oh well. I activate armor's 1st and 3rd skill and weapon toggle, it's a big SP drain, but with Essence of Orb, you can sustain it.

Both Frostval sets are interesting, I'm a fan of the concepts - all the giftbox armor needs is for an effect to exist that applies a permanent choke, so that the armor can keep getting stronger as time goes on

Alright, overall the items and sets are both good, and disappointing. Catering to builds for these sets IMO isn't a good idea, especially if you can't ensure over time (like years) we get equal footing . Considering this is the third year in a row the frostval set was catered to non Mages, IMO that's a huge problem. Leaving out players who prefer certain builds isn't certainly a feels good.

The Trickster set has magic and melee weapons but the thing is ranged locked. I guess bones were thrown so warriors and mages can use those weapons with other things, but when you think about the fact there is a FSB when holding the melee and magic weapons it's a bit comical.

Now, the items individually are very, very good. I am using the armor with CHA weapons and so I can find some usage, at least if/when (hopefully not) kills the CHA override. So I can use the armor as a beastmage, just not the set. The shield is fantastic, the misc is good, and the weapons are good .

For the gixtboxes, these are "gifts" in a sense and this is even more of a feels bad when catered. But this isn't entirely as catered thank goodness, as the inflictions are based on weapon held instead of locked to a type. At least that part is fine.

The "bug fixes" for the armor are massive, massive, MASSIVE nerfs. The shield elevuln was fire, ice when the armor's was ice, fire so they were inflicting seperate lines, and thus, become a pure stack. The result was massive elevulns in reality, so this fix making them absorb into one another greatly reduces fire/ice damage. And people have mentioned the choke being halved. So the initial "omg this set is sick" has lost much of it's luster. I would say dont even use the elevuln skill, just use the shields.

The shield, though, is by FAR the best item out of everything, including the frostval stuff. The gameplay options with other things is quite great...literally I see no reason to store this shield. It's S+++++ tier by a mile.

I would also say since we're dealing with elevulns and FD lean, the set/armor is perfect for beastmasters. I think it rivals Sol Neko and Frigid Bard of WAr for ice BM armor. So ultimately I am happy with the set...although the misc isnt better than Optico so I wont be using it, but FD non BM's may find some use out of it.

The spell needs to be given a token 0 damage hit so that the magic weapons effect works with the spell. All in all, again, really like the items individually even though the sets are catered. (not a good idea IMO for frostval/giftbox sets) but at the end of the day, I can't really complain too much. Very good items.

I like that sometimes rewards aren't for everyone. It allows for more gear variety. And the few complaints of no mage benefits seem odd considering how much builds using intellect were gifted items for years.

I see that the giftbox spell now has it's token 0 damage hit so that it works with the spell. However, the magic weapon was always bugged and still is where the first cast of most ice spells it won't recognize it's an ice spell, and thus doesn't inflict/try to inflict.

Will the 2023 frostval painting be made available?

It's available at the end of Unboxing - Gift Delivery Final shop. Otherwise we'll look to get it in the LTS shop as well soon. ~Anim

For some time now I've been noticing an obsession with fixing what could otherwise be left alone even if bugged. The winter warden set ended up a disappointment once the power of it was corrected. Even with the double power it's not like we were one hitting targets.

I can't expect it to be reverted but how about this as a suggestion:

The armor deals 0 damage but you get an added 80% power to the burn and the choke duration is increased by 1 turn per item of the set you have equipped. Only the choke can be rolled against to remove it. Give the weapon and shield pair a mini bonus to allow the pet to eat the burn on the target to heal either your sp or mp. We can't have too many regen pets. The spell could be quickcast, once per battle but have its effect guaranteed as an ice poison rather than burn. Shield gets its effect duration doubled and a once per turn elevuln for ice attacks. The misc should work to change armor lean to neutral or mid-offensive which would hopefully help the set be used for more than FD builds.

I know my previous comment was me not caring but I can change my mind. It's not a set I prefer to use but make it fun for those who liked it on release.

But fixing them to be weaker after their stronger versions are liked hurts desire to use the affected items. A fix like this ruins the set.

^ While very true, and I wanted to say that I don't know if what I'm about to say applies to this item. It very likely doesn't, IMO....Because the items in question were bugfixed fairly soon. Bugfixing soon is always the best thing if an item gets released with bugs. Releasing w/o bugs of course is ideal, as this alleviates these issues completely.

However, I think an argument could be made, especially if an item has been out a long while, and especially if an item is premium, that the bugfix be handled in a more delicate manner. Sometimes evaluating the player's actual gameplay usage can help provide a pathway. Just fixing the bug into the originally intended numbers might not be the best answer. This is what happened with the cutlass situation. The cutlass still remained balanced, it just went in a different route based on understanding why players spent their UR GGB on it.

I'll give you another example that should be happening but likely isn't. Multimaul was released father's day 2023. That's June. We are now on the cusp of the multimaul nerf, roughly 7 months later. This item is locked behind a LTS painting/seasonal event right? So now we will reprtedly see it go from effecting the entire field to just the weapon itself. But here's the issue. It was being used by Mage's spellcasting. It was being used by Beast Builds for pets/guests. The proper thing to do would be to make new versions that work just on pets/guests for BM's and just on spells for Mages, to appease the now 7 month actual gameplay usage. But instead, not only is it being nerfed for warriors who was the intended target, but it's being removed from the rest. This is an example of what should happen in this case. ANd "eventually" doesn't count". Not when it comes to this game. AE has other games that actually approach it this way. And good for them. And shame on AQ for not.

There are far far far far more facets to evaluating balance than making that blanket statement. It wreaks of "here's what we made, take it or leave we don't care"

I am not saying staff views this that way. I'm just saying .

Balance is a very useful tool for making equipment and monster, well, balanced. As long it fits the mold, it's most likely to be serviceable.

Still, I do think there's merit in being flexible, as in even if it doesn't exactly fit in the balance, monster or equipment, if it's entertaining, I say we can make an exception. This is a game after all, a solo one at that (so if you use OP items and get bored with easy win, it's on you), game's most important point is to entertain you IMO.
