Starting a new character again to experience new changes for Book 1 and speaking with other members of the community made me think how weapon types nowadays hurt the game more than they add. They are an old design choice that aren't really needed as they just make the game more annoying for newcomers and endgame farmers are just required to spend more time clearing quests, which doesn't really help. Overall, in their current form, the system doesn't offer anything. But I don't want to see them removed completely, more-so adjusted. I think the fix here would have that all weapons would now act like scythes. With a twist: instead of locking the damage type completely, they just start from the said type that fits them. Swords/Maces/Axes would deal melee damage, unless your DEX/INT is higher, then they deal Pierce/Magic like scythes. Same with daggers and staves/wands. That would make farming weapons for specific levels more bearable, and not needing to have every weapon be scythes. Like in Inn. Because then we get artwork that clearly fits a sword, but it's called a scythe in-game, so that endgame players aren't forced to use a specific stat build with it. With that system, we could have lvl 90 Inn weapon rewards that offer a bit more variety, while not locking anything away. I think changing the system altogether would be better, instead of just changing every single weapon manually in game. Currently weapon types just staying makes 2/3rds of the weapon loot pointless for the majority of the game.
