Dark Lands - You can only get here if you cross the bridge. But what you find on the other side might make you regret it...
After crossing the long bridge, you find a desolate plateau of rock spread out before you. Thick jungle is below, waiting for you to explore the dark lands beneath its canopy...
«You»: Whew...that was a looong bridge! I can't believe such a simple wooden bridge could hold itself together for miles. Unless...something other than wood was holding it up. Something like magic. In which case, that means there has to be a source of magic somewhere nearby. HELLO!! Anybody out there??!!«You»: Now THAT is proof that there is some crazy magic going on around here! Maybe I should just turn around and go home...before some inanimate objects knock me over the head!
Wandy: Whoa-whoa-whoa!! Don't go jumpin' to conclusions so fast, friend!
«You»: Well, I wasn't, really. Those rocks were powered by magic...and they tried to pummel me. So it's quite logical to assume something magic will try to pummel me again.
Wandy: Logical, yeah. But is it FAIR?? I think not. I confess - I made those rocks go after yah. But you know, I was wrong. I admit it, okay?? I just assumed you were a bad person who crossed my bridge for some BAD reason. And, it's hard for me to say it, but - I'm sorry.
«You»: Hmm...okay. Thanks for pummeling me with rocks and then apologizing. So, what's your name?
Wandy: You can read, can't you? It's Wandy. Don't laugh. My parents thought they had a sense of humor.
«You»: Are you a dwarf? You seem small for someone so good with magic.
Wandy: I'm NOT a Dwarf. I'd have a beard if I were a Dwarf. Nope, I'm a little girl. Only, my Dad, genius that he is, increased my intellect so much that I am now smarter than most adult wizards.
«You»: You should have an interesting childhood to look back on someday. So, I'd like to get on with exploring this new area. Can you recommend a nice place to visit?
Wandy: ......That depends. If your idea of "nice" is a place where a crazy tyrant has taken over the land and rules with an iron fist, then YES, I can take you there.
«You»: Oh, I see. Can I help you overthrow this evil king?
Wandy: Who said anything about a King? Trust me, the tyrant I'm talking about is no king. Or queen, for that matter. And overthrowing him? HAHAAAAHA...right! Ahem. That would take more than just you and me. It would take an army.
«You»: Isn't there an underground resistance movement than can raise the army you need?
Wandy: No-one around here knows the meaning of "resist!" They just do whatever they're told. Buy the stuff the Tyrant wants them to buy, read whatever he wants them to read - and on and on! It's horrible! The price of wood has gotten so high ever since the Tyrant outlawed cutting down trees. Everyone has to buy their wood from the Tyrant. And since the Tyrant controls all the wood, he can charge whatever he wants. The people of this land are just puppets to the Tyrant. BUT --
«You»: Let me guess. You have a plan.
Wandy: I HAVE A PLAN!! The people may be unwilling to fight back, but the animals have free will!
«You»: But...most of them are stupid.
Wandy: You underestimate the creatures of the world. They may not know people-things, but they have awesome instincts and abilities. But that's not all...by using my Dad's secret incantations, I plan to make the animals SMART! We shall join forces and topple the Tyrant, and make him pay for what he's done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
«You»: Okay, okay, calm down already! I'll help you.
Wandy: Great! First things first. I need to get the animals to sit still for a few minutes to make them smart. I tried it on a Rhyno but she didn't like it, and ran off! Let's find that Rhyno and do whatever it takes to get her on our side! If I know one thing for sure, it's that Rhynos make good battering rams! COME ON!!
You search the Plateau with Wandy by your side for hours, until a cloud of dust catches your attention...
«You»: Look! It's a dust cloud up ahead! And it's coming towards us!
Wandy: That's not just a dust cloud, my friend. Remember what I said about Rhynos being good battering rams? Well, I think we're about to see that first-hand.
«You receive Wandy as your guest.»Wandy: Yeeehaaaa!!!! Thanks a lot. Now, it's time to make this big girl SMART!!
«You»: If you make her smart, won't she also realize that what we did was sort of...bad?
Wandy: ...........I think I know a spell to induce selective amnesia, too.
