I tried this. I think I followed the instructions right, but it's somewhat hard to tell because i've got a swedish version of GIMP... Anyways, the results ended up quite nice (only tried on a random screenie anyway, so no point in posting it). However, something occured to me: From step 6 and onwards the result end up pretty much the same if you use filter->color->color to alpha with black(000000). (using white, ffffff , gives a black mist instead). Not much of a difference, but, now you can use various color-tools to give your "mist" a new color. Hope this is usefull. PS: thanks for the great tutorial, it's a really cool effect.
