Knight: Hail, adventurer! Perhaps you'd like to be of assistance to the Swordhaven Guard?
Knight: Our scouts have reported that bandits are attacking a small caravan just outside of the city.

  • Quest!

After travelling through the forest, defeating bandits, you find two boys being attacked by the bandit leader.

Bandit: And what do we have here?
Bandit: A whip and a great sword. No doubt these weapons will come in handy hahaha!
Bandit: This was all too easy.

    You enter the scene.

<Charcter>: Then you obviously had no clue that the bad guys never win.
    Xavier Lionfang: Help us!! Please!
    <Charcter>: Don't worry, I'll protect you boys.
Bandit: Hahaha, don't even try it kid. It's 3 against 1, you have no chance!

Maximilian stands up, grabs the whip and word from the bandit leader and rushes to your side.

Maximilian Lionfang: Well 2 against 3 is a bit more fair now, isn't it?

    Maximilian joins your party.

  • Heal
  • Battle!

<Charcter>: Like I said, the bad guys never win.
Xavier Lionfang: Thank you so much, Hero!
<Charcter>: It's fine, saving people is what I do best!
<Charcter>: You've got quite a skill there. I don't think you really needed my help.
Maximilian Lionfang: Me? Aha, well, they belonged to my father and he used to train me.
<Charcter>: I see. You have some real potential in fighting, he's trained you well!
<Charcter>: So where were you both off to, before the attack?
Maximilian Lionfang: We were traveling to Swordhaven, in an attempt to settle down into city life.
<Charcter>: Brilliant! I'll take you there myself.

You and the two brothers arrive at Swordhaven, where Sir Rotiart is standing on duty.

Sir Rotiart: Ah, <Character>. You're back earlier than I expected. I presume everything went well with the caravan site?
<Charcter>: I don't know what you mean by "well", but I managed to save these two boys from the bandits!
Sir Rotiart: Thank goodness they are safe! So what will you young chaps do now?
Maximilian Lionfang: We don't really know. We have no money, no livelihood, and no place to live.
Sir Rotiart: Then it is settled -- you shall stay with me! I will look after you, it's the least I can do.
<Charcter>: You're in good hands now.

Maximilian Lionfang: The Swordhaven Guard are preparing to defend against the armies of DoomWood, and I'd be honored to fight at your side once more.

  • Quest!

<Character>: I'm glad to see you doing so well, Maximilian. I was delighted when I heard you had joined the Swordhaven Guard. How is your brother, Xavier?
Maximilian Lionfang: Thank you, <Character>. Though I really wouldn't be where I am if it weren't for you.
Maximilian Lionfang: Xav is doing very well, thank you for asking. He hopes to one day follow my footsteps and join the Swordhaven Guard, but for now, he works in the Market.
Maximilian Lionfang: Now then, we must leave for DoomWood immediately, before the undead reach Swordhaven's borders!

You and Maximilian ride to DoomWood, and join the other Knights stationed there.

Knight (1): Sir Maximilian, it's good to see you arrive. The troops are making their final preparations.
Knight (2): And you've brought the Hero of Falconreach with you; that's sure to boost morale!
    <Charcter>: Glad I can help!
Maximilian Lionfang: Alright men, we have our orders. It's time to launch the attack and defend our homes.
    Maximilian Lionfang: For Swordhaven!

    Maximilian Lionfang: For now...
<Charcter>: Right. We'll have to keep a close eye on this area from now on.
Maximilian Lionfang: But for this many undead to swarm into an organised an attack, they would need a leader! But who?
<Charcter>: I do not know. And that's what worries me the most.
Maximilian Lionfang: Wait! I hear something.

One of the Knights comes running across the screen.

Knight (1): AHHHHH! IT'S A DRAGON! AN UNDEAD DRAGON!
    <Charcter>: A Dracolich?! How?!
    Maximilian Lionfang: Get ready, <Character>!

  • Heal
  • Battle!

Maximilian Lionfang: We have to find out who's responsible for this before they attack again!

Level/Quest/Items Required: Completion of Roar of the Undead

Objective Completed: The culprit has been found! A traitor within the Swordhaven Guard.

    Monsters

    (1) Sir Rotiart - Boss

    NPCs
    Bandit
    Maximilian Lionfang
    Sir Rotiart

    Dialogue

    Maximilian Lionfang: Good day, <Character>.
Maximilian Lionfang: I'm afraid I must call on your assistance once more, otherwise I fear that the Swordhaven Guard will crumble.

  • Quest!

    <Character>: So what's been happening?
Maximilian Lionfang: The people of Swordhaven are beginning to lose their trust in the city's guard. And I can't say I blame them.
Maximilian Lionfang: Many have been reportedly attacked by bandits after supposedly being promised safety.
<Character>: Safety? As in protection provided by the city's guard?
<Character>: You don't think that this is someone from within the Swordhaven Guard, do you?
Maximilian Lionfang: I'm afraid so. One of the families attacked were able to escape and notify me of one of the bandit's appearance.
Maximilian Lionfang: Since then, I have been able to track him down. He often visits one of the taverns in the... less fortunate areas of Swordhaven.
<Character>: Then we must head there straight away if we hope to put an end to this!

    Sir Maximilian joins your party.

You and Maximilian travel to one of Swordhaven's taverns, The Boveox's Head. It is full of dodgy looking punters, most likely criminals.

    Bandit: What'sa Knight doin' 'ere.
Maximilian Lionfang: I am here on official business, investigating the recent attacks on innocent families.
Maximilian Lionfang: I suggest you release the information now, or prepare to face the consequences.
<Character>: *whispers* I'd lower the tone if I were you. I don't know if you've noticed, but we're heavily outnumbered...
Bandit: Trouble he says? C'mon boys, let's show this Knight here what trouble means.

    After defeating 7 bandits.

Bandit: Alright, alright! I tell ya everythin' I know. Just don't hurt me any more!
    Maximilian Lionfang: Speak quickly.
Bandit: One of you's, a Knight, I never caught his name, but he's been paying us to ambush the families of Swordhaven after he promises them security.
    <Character>: A Knight?! I don't want to believe it...
Bandit: It's the truth I tell ya!
Maximilian Lionfang: Any more information? Or has your usefulness run its course?
Bandit: You'll find the Knight in his camp, just outside the city. Here's a map!
<Character>: This is the exact location I found you and your brother all those months ago, when you were attacked by bandits.
Bandit: That's everything, I swear! So will you let me go? I promise I'll be good, I can redeem myself!
Maximilian Lionfang: Redemption is false hope and a lie. Once you are evil, you are always evil.
Maximilian Lionfang: You will be spending the rest of your life rotting within a cell in the Swordhaven dungeons.
Bandit: Nooo, no, you can't! Please!

Two Knights enter and take the bandit away.

<Character>: That was a little harsh don't you think? He could have changed his ways.
Maximilian Lionfang: I'm sorry, <Character>. A leopard never changes its spots. He is evil, and can never be good.
Maximilian Lionfang: Come, there is still much to do.

You and Maximilian travel to the outskirts of Swordhaven, to the same place Maximilian's caravan was attacked.

<Character>: It seems like so long ago when I found you here.
<Character>: Looks like we have some familiar company too!

    After defeating 8 bandits.

???: Well well well, the young cub has it all figured out does he?
    Maximilian Lionfang: YOU?!

    Sir Rotiart enters the scene.

Maximilian Lionfang: So you were the vile creature who ordered the attack on me and my brother all those months ago?!
Sir Rotiart: Well who else? Please, child, don't tell me you had no clue?
Maximilian Lionfang: I guess it makes sense... you've been challenging our leaders for so long now. But why? Why attack innocent people?
Sir Rotiart: Because. I deserve greatness, and our wonderful leaders won't grant me with it.
Sir Rotiart: And so, I had hoped to turn the people against the Swordhaven Guard so the order would crumble.
Sir Rotiart: Leaving me to recreate the order in my own vision, having complete control over the city hahaha.
<Character>: You're preying on the vulnerable!
Sir Rotiart: Oh enough of this! We've wasted enough time. Let us duel so that I may defeat you and carry on with my business.

  • Heal
  • Battle!

Sir Rotiart: It would appear that you surpass even my skill, Lionfang.
Sir Rotiart: Though you can act one big happy family all you like, we both know that no-one can truly be good, not even the order!

Two Knights enter and take Sir Rotiart away.

Maximilian Lionfang: You're wrong! I stand as a beacon of pure good, and I will make sure the guard are nothing but good as well!

Maximilian Lionfang: Though you won't be happy once you learn how we found out...

  • Quest!

Maximilian Lionfang: After revealing Rotiart as the traitor, the gracious King Alteon promoted me to a General within the Swordhaven army.
Maximilian Lionfang: It is with this authority granted to me that I took the decision to put an end to the DoomWood invasions, no matter what.
    <Character>: What did you do?
Maximilian Lionfang: I... I have sought out assistance from outside the Swordhaven Guard.
Maximilian Lionfang: You have to understand, they can help us eliminate this force of evil.
    <Character>: Who is it, Maximilian?!
    Maximilian Lionfang: The Rose.
    <Character>: WHAT?!
<Character>: The Rose?! Are you serious?
Maximilian Lionfang: If you are that against it, then don't come. I am doing this for the greater good of Swordhaven's people.
    <Character>: No, no. It's fine. I'll come.
<Character>: It might be good to meet them outside of battle for once.
Maximilian Lionfang: I am glad to hear that you can see that this is what's best, what will lead us down the path of good.
Maximilian Lionfang: Let us be off then.

You and Maximilian travel to the Rose's fortress in DoomWood.

Rose Soldier: General Lionfang, <Character>. Jiax Vetali has been expecting you both.
    <Character>: ... both of us?
Rose Soldier: Yes. Please follow me.

The ManaHunter escorts the two of you to Jiax Vetali's room in the fortress.

Jiax Vetali: Good evening, General and "Hero".
Jiax Vetali: Welcome to Morsmurum, the Rose's fortress in DoomWood. Beautifully malicious, isn't she?
Maximilian Lionfang: Thank you, Jiax Vetali. It is a great pleasure, and I'm ever grateful for your assistance.
Jiax Vetali: Hm? Ah yes, the undead invasions. Well, it would appear some form of necromantic magic is behind this.
Jiax Vetali: So naturally, we were intrigued.
<Character>: So shouldn't we be preparing for battle or something?
Jiax Vetali: Hmph. That eager are we? Very well. General, the battle plans are in the next room.

Maximilian nods and exits the room. As you try to leave, Jiax Vetali interrupts.

Jiax Vetali: The commander warned me that you wouldn't be best pleased with this alliance.
<Character>: I'm sure that's not all Jaania told you. I'm only here to get the job done.
<Character>: Just who are you exactly?
Jiax Vetali: Hmph. Jiax Vitali, an Illusionist. That is all you need to know.
<Character>: Another mage betraying their own kind?
Jiax Vetali: Another mage who is not blinded by illusions.

Jiax Vetali walks off laughing. You follow and enter into the war room.

Jiax Vetali: Magus Hansa detected necromantic powers from around this area.
Jiax Vetali: Our scouts then reported a seemingly abandoned castle here. I believe this is the source of the undead.
Maximilian Lionfang: Excellent work! We would never have got this far without your abilities.
    Maximilian Lionfang: To battle!

    General Lionfang joins your party.

After defeating the undead monsters, the Lich enters.

    Lich: Enough! Enough! Enough!
<Character>: I take it you're the big boss around here?
Lich: This is my castle, and you just defeated all my children!
<Character>: That would be a yes then...
Maximilian Lionfang: Your evil-doing ends here, abomination!

  • Heal
  • Battle!

The Lich's head lands on the floor.

Lich: Nooo no noo no nooo!
Lich: My plan to take take DoomWood for my own had only just begun!
Lich: Hahaha, I still have one trick up my sleeve... uh, neck. A trick you've seen before, but I have amplified it.
Lich: A little girl in a pink dress kindly showed me Noxus' old journal.
    Lich: MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Necromantic magic fills the screen merging all the broken undead, including the Lich and transforming it into a Skeletitan.

Jiax Vetali: I should have known better than to let <Character> meddle with my plans. Look at what you've caused.
    <Character>: I can handle this!

  • Summon Dragon!
  • Let a DragonLord handle it!

<Character>: I've defeated it before, I knew I could do it again.
    Maximilian Lionfang: Good job, <Character>.
<Character>: So now that the Lich is gone, the DoomWood invasions will stop right?
    Jiax Vetali: Perhaps. Perhaps not.
Maximilian Lionfang: Jiax has requested I stay with him in Morsmurum a little while longer, to ensure that the undead have been eradicated.
<Character>: If that's what you feel is best...

Maximilian Lionfang: I must leave immediately, though feel free to follow along with a few of my Knights tomorrow morning.

  • Quest!

Scene opens with Maximilian and Jiax Vetali in Morsmurum.

Jiax Vetali: You appear to have such strong opinions on morality, General.
Maximilian Lionfang: Good is good, and evil is evil. That is all. There is no in between.
Jiax Vetali: Ahh, so you view morality in absolutes.

Jiax's eyes flash purple, and purple mist slowly fills the room.

Jiax Vetali: And yet, you choose to ally yourself with such evil...
Maximilian Lionfang: What?! Why would you say such a thing?
Jiax Vetali: <Character> has poisoned your mind, General. This is why I wished to speak to you alone.
Jiax Vetali: <Character> is defending magic users, even attacking our forces if it comes to it.
Maximilian Lionfang: But <Character> is good? They're a Hero to the people.
Jiax Vetali: No, they're a "Hero" to magic users.
Jiax Vetali: And do the events of 5 years ago not prove that magic is evil?
Maximilian Lionfang: I... I've never thought of magic in this way before.
Maximilian Lionfang: Those events, that nearly destroyed the world, are the darkest form of evil.
Maximilian Lionfang: And it's all because of the mages!

By now, the purple mist has completely filled the room, and you can only see the silhouettes of the two characters. Maximilian's eyes glow brightly through the mist.

    Jiax Vetali: Hahahahahahahaha!

You enter a small village in DoomWood en route to Morsmurum, after it's been attacked by the Rose. There are some survivors.

DoomWood Mage: <Character>! Help us! Please!
    <Character>: What's happened here?!
DoomWood Mage: The Rose attacked us. They came out of nowhere, we were defenseless.
<Character>: Were these the forces from Morsmurum? Lead by Jiax Vetali?
    DoomWood Mage: The Illusionist? No.
DoomWood Mage: They were lead by General Lionfang, from the Swordhaven Guard.
    <Character>: Maximilian?! How? Why?
    <Character>: I don't understand...
DoomWood Mage: Has the General joined the Rose?
<Character>: No, he wouldn't. He is a good man.
<Character>: Take the survivors and get to safety.
    <Character>: There's somewhere I have to go.

You travel to Morsmurum. There is purple mist inside the fortress.

<Character>: The fortress looks different... it's like a maze!
<Character>: This must be one of Jiax Vetali's illusions.
<Character>: I have to find Maximilian!

After defeating multiple Rose soldiers, you eventually find Jiax Vetali.

Jiax Vetali: Hmph. You took long enough.
<Character>: Where is Maximilian? What have you done to him?
Jiax Vetali: I have freed him. I showed him the truth of how all magic is evil.
<Character>: You've chained him in one of your illusions!
Jiax Vetali: Don't be so unkind.
Jiax Vetali: I've simply tamed the lion.
Jiax Vetali: Much like my new acquaintance.

A chained Somean Lion jumps into the scene.

    <Character>: A Somean Lion?!

    Maximilian Lionfang: Was that them?
    Jiax Vetali: Yes.
Maximilian Lionfang: I cannot allow them to continue to spread evil throughout the land.

Maximilian Lionfang: What do you mean?

Akanthus: You have lost control of Lionfang.
Jiax Vetali: Hmph. It certainly looks that way doesn't it.
Jiax Vetali: Do you want me to deal with him?
Akanthus: Oh, no. He may still be of use for the future...
