I recently changed to a Mercenary for a challenge seeing as people believe it's currently the "Worst" class, and decided to make a build using Blood Commander.
It's level 8, and when I hit 30 or so I only heal about 4 LifePoints, which I feel is a little underpowered, I understand it's main effect is to boost Strength, but compared to Tac Merc's Frenzy, which heals 30% of the damage done at level 1, and Blood Mage's/Bounty Hunter's passive Bloodlust that heals about 20% at level 7 I feel it's less than adequate.

I hardly ever see Mercenaries these days and it's a real shame, I can understand why of course, but I feel Blood Commander could be improved.

When looking at other stat boosting moves such as Reflex Boost, it's apparent that the Energy restored through taking damage is more useful than the same amount of HP if it was reversed.

And using a Strength Build as a Mercenary with Blood Commander is limited in that you need high Dexterity and Technology in order to hit, not get outdamaged and not be Deflected, all the while lowering the points investable into HP and Strength, and with the amount of tanks around you're hard pressed to hit over 25, so the miniscule health gain seems a little gimicky.

Any thoughts?

No, leave it alone. Mercs already have enough buffs to contend with. Adrenaline for quick rage, bunker + surgical builds are what they have even at low levels.

Those who can afford enhancements usually go for high technology-bunker-SS builds, while those who cannot will go for outright strength with max blood commander. I think both are fine the way they are.

Frostlich, for me, using level 4 Adrenaline, I see no increase in how fast I get my rage using a Strength build, and you're focusing on the buffs specific to one type of build. Bloodlust is used with every bounty hunter build, Frenzy is more widely used on TLM's than BC is on Merc's.

By your logic, every class is limited to one build, the most widely used, and because of that, the class itself is penalised.

What i'm suggesting is an increase in health regain to Blood Commander, a move that takes a turn to activate with no defensive additives giving you a lost turn disadvantage, whereas Frenzy hits, heals more and doesn't waste a turn.

Mercs are the only class with hybrid + "blood lust" in a weaker form. Also, Blood Commander's health regain scales every time you put more points in it. I have heard that max Blood Commander gives 15% bloodlust which is a level 4 bloodlust. On the other hand, in order for Adrenaline to completely work, you must be either a strength or a support type for you to rage much faster.

As I've stated though, I am using a strength build and Adrenaline seems to have no impact. What you're saying sounds like a glorification of Mercenary skills in that it has a Mini Bloodlust and Hybrid Armour.
Tactical Merc's have a skill that drains more Health, and a passive shield that's more useful if the user used any armour other than Delta Knight, due to it's single Defence shield Passive.

That's also like me saying blood mages are the only class to have Bloodlust and a Mini Reroute.

And maxed at 15%? Regardless it still takes a turn, that's a lot of points to invest into a skill that takes a turn to activate, although I do use level 8 myself.
Mercenaries don't have a skill that lowers our opponents defensive stats such as Smokescreen or Malfunction, which is why Bounty Hunters do so well with bloodlust, and with the Delta maul and 93 strength against a level 34 with varium i'm hitting around 18-22 a hit, 15% of those is 2.7-3.3 Hp a hit.

@khannibal Unlike Frenzy, BC gives you 15% health back at Max on every attack(except Surgical Strike) and applies for more than one attack. A lot to invest in a single skill? Don't people generally invest 10 points into most Passive Skills already? Mercs don't get a defense debuff because they have an offense buff. Also, Frenzy can be blocked while BC can be used with gun, aux, Bunker, and Artillery for unblockable health regain.

As a tactical mercenary, frenzy is somewhat my least used skill. It may be bloodlust at 30% when level 1 but it takes 3 turns to cooldown and if it's blocked then it won't be that easy to recover. Plus, the only way for a tact merc to deal alot of damage is doing a poison grenade build or support builds though I hardly ever see one. Unlike a mercenary, Tactical mercs only have a passive defense shield and if they bought a physical armor then it's pretty much a waste while on the other hand, mercenaries have power skills unlike a tactical mercenary.

It requires skill to actually use a tactical mercenary these days because frenzy was nerfed, smokescreen and techinican were removed and maul was switched to stun grenade. Although having reroute is useful, what else can a tactical merc do other than spam poison grenade? 5 focus builds do work but only Gamma Bot can do hard damage and it's the only reliable bot for a tact merc to use. Assault Bots are useful too but once you use it, you can't use it's debuff skill.

Mercenaries, on the other hand, tend to have power builds. Although they don't have a mana regaining skill, they do have powerful skills like bunker buster, maul, berzerker and Blood Commander as their power moves. If you can balance out a tank build for a mercenary, you might as well fit in with bunker buster and some good skills.

Frost, I understand all the nerfs that TLM's went through, and I understand they do take skill, they are still the most tankable class ingame though and most able to heal loop while whittling away with a Toxic 'nade, and I was using a Bunker and Surgical build which was incredibly powerful and had few flaws, I just wanted to try a build that utilizes underused skills and realised the lack of Healing that an activation skill gives.

Mallet, Frenzy's particually useful on a tank that utilizes high Dexterity as well as Tech, using Blood Commander and then Bunker Buster seems a little useless in that Strength doesn't improve the damage of Bunker Buster, or any other non-physical Mercenary attack for that matter, it offers no defensive coverage as you've already stated, due to it being an offensive buff, so again all I can see it used for might be a high Tech/Strength build with a Sideram and Bunker as the first alternative to a Strength build, and if you're picking something like that then why not just use a Bunker and surgical combo?

And you did say about people pumping ten skill points into passives, this isn't the case unless it's a Mercenary or TLM's shield, few people have over 7 Reroute or Bloodlust due to the dropoff of usefullness, and again, Blood Commander isn't a passive skill in that it takes a turn to activate. Reflex boost requires far fewer points to get the energy and high dexterity benefit.

EDIT: Wow, thank you Soul Prisoner, I was unaware as to how wrong I was, really? It was previously Field Commander? I didn't know that, it must be due to the fact that i've only played this game for a month and wanted to hop on the bandwagon. /Sarcasm. And joking? Did you see anything funny in the post? Yes I know it's a new skill that's been buffed, what I am trying to say however is that it doesn't hold the same level of advantage to the other buff skills, even Technician increases Resistance and bot damage un-class specifically. It takes a turn to activate and more often than not with a strength build you go second to someone a level or two lower or with higher support, including Hunters, so by the time you've set up BC they're one turn away from Massacre, you're smoked or malfed, and have a poxy skill likely to miss that heals 3 hp before you get hit for a 50 or so, more often than not Maul is a more suitable option, or intimidate.

Guys don't get me wrong i'm not having a go, I picked Mercenary for a challenge like I always do when a class falls behind, and i'm only asking for feedback, i'm not one to encourage an overpowered class to get stronger, and I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon with builds and classes, so don't think I don't know how capable mercenaries are, all i'm suggesting is that Blood Commander is less powerful than it's counterparts and is less likely to have an impact on the Metagame as a whole in it's current state.

^ If the beginner classes were soooo good, you would bother of changing to new class??? i mean you make 50k credits, to upgrade your self, not just to get an achievement....i hope you get my point :)

3 Old OK classes, can be upgraded with 50k credits or varium, to strong new classes .... "sounds fair"

They're not new anymore, or particually stronger as you'll see in that the top 1v1ers for the past month or so have been Bounty Hunters.
You're getting off topic here, i'm talking about getting classes on parr with eachother, not debating how I spend my money.

I like a challenge, as i've said, and i've changed class over 15 times, I go through classes that are considered weak, find out why and put in my ideas on what could make them more useful without disrupting the balance.

lol, not talking about you, its always new to the new players, and the new classes should have the spark, or worth of the varium or credits you spend on it, its not every one can sit and change their classes "15" times u noe, the only reason some1 do that is, ...

1st.... his a MOD ( for balance purpose)

2nd... Confused player ( fighting with other player....losses a battle..and think, thats the best class)

3rd....class jumpers ( The one who wants to stay ahead in competition , the best class or more like Uped class )

Now its up to u, to think to which category you belong :)

100% sure, not the 1st one....

Or it could be...

4th...A person who wants to try out a Weak but strategic Class. He wants to develop new and fun build using that Class. After all, online games are for fun, not wins. You can't apply for a University and say "I have 10,000 Wins in this online game called EpicDuel. Accept me?" but you can say to yourself that you had some good times and EpicDuel was a fun game to play.

If this is to buff Mercenaries, then like all threads are all doomed to go into Balance Discussion no exceptions unless the rules change.

Blood Commander and Field Commander... perhaps they could add extra damage to the Primary and Sidearm instead of increasing Strength? Just a thought.

You want a Class that has a passive Defence and Resistance to gain more Health* on a skill that I've seen give +45 Str with about normal Support???

*corrected my typo

Mercenaries with strength builds are outclassed by BMs, BHs and CHs.
You guys seem to forget it takes a turn to activate and you will take alot of damage especially if you go second, which happens alot as you need to invest alot of points in strength and dexterity.

BHs and CHs have massacre, a unblockable skill with reasonable energy cost for it's damage and you only need to invest 5 points in it and you get a attack more powerful than maxed berserker.
BMs have 3 different ways to inflict high strength damage on their enemies one of which costs no energy (Deadly Aim gunning) and a low cost physical skill that at level 1 has the power of a level 5 berserker.
ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO WASTE A SINGLE TURN.

So yes, Calogero.
