Angels Holocaust -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 1:58:59)

Your all forgetting one important thing and thats having fun. Just take a look at us, our win ratio determines who we are. Well I say no longer we need to be free.

Look at Aqworlds, Adventure Quest, and Mechquest. They don't have losses and as the game slowly moves towards a quest system there won't be any need for the loss system.

Soliqe -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 2:17:51)

It's amazing when the "negatively labeled" players make sense. I personally love your idea. I also like Ashari's version as well. I'd personally like to see my losses still but not have them viewable.

Shadronica -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 2:18:36)

Well I never thought I would see/hear the day you would say that AH.

You have a wonderful win/loss ratio. Yet you would be prepared to let it go?

Well I kind of agree. This game is not at all like any other I have ever played. The community is probably what I would call a somewhat close knit but totally dysfunctional one.

Even I have given way to swearing at my PC Monitor when things aren't going right.

On the other hand though I don't want this to become another quest game where we have to challenge other players all the time either. That would be the equivalent of the Fame spam headache.

I totally hear you AH but I can't quite picture what type of content/quests you are talking about.

Also love the idea of being able to personally view your own win/loss ratio.

BlueKatz -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 2:23:47)

Sound ok... but *look at STR mer*

matteo234 -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 3:19:51)

There is a problem i can see with this, at the present time.
You know that really annoying battle where the other team looks so much better than your team? WEll if there was no win/loss ratio to keep my partner might leave to get a win somewhere else, leaving me in the lurch. This as of yet minority of people could grow largely by this idea. If i come up with a solution or any other problems, ill post it here so that we can work on a solution that works for everyone.

voidance -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 3:37:28)

Well one it wouldnt really matter because like you mentioned the reason he left is because of no Win/Loss ratio, two just do what we do with the rest of Ed's problems. Either deal with it, or go 1v1. Oh and theres always that other option.....quiting. In the end i rather have my items safe and lose a match every once in a while, then have to worry about getting hacked by some jerk off and him selling my items for no other reason other then to comfort the fact that he cant have the same luxurys.

Completely agree this game has become so competitive now its just ridiculous. I used to love ED when i used to just play for fun :). But now its become full of people who do anything to win, are obnoxious (because they beat you) and just forget what the meaning of this game is about .. PvP.

Love this idea, support 100% ... bring back the fun times of ED.

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 5:46:10)

Everybody here is forgetting the big picture.this won't ever happen and it's quite obvious why.From a business point of view,would this work?No,people losing get desperate sooner or later.Those of you who have been playing long have already noticed how variums and non varium players have drifted apart even further.Variums are now to a point where we laugh and say free win when you spot a free player no matter what lvl bar mercs.

Epicduel's entire money making process is now based on getting free players to feel hopeless and then pay,that's how i was caught :D The latest power up button after a loss further supports this idea.It's a pvp game and if there's no such thing as a visible drawback then why would anyone pay?Nightwraith probably exited this thread the second he read the first post,and that's if he came here.So the nature of how the game makes it's money will never be risked,this is exactly what this idea is doing.

Obviously i'd support it,but realistically speaking,won't ever happen.

TankMage -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 5:56:08)

^ People would have more fun. And just because you can't see your losses, doesn't take away the competitive edge in the game. Their would still be leaderboards, and you could still see your wins.

Fay Beeee -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 6:02:11)

Just a thought
If you remove losses from the game, what happens to the %?
If it goes also then so will world domination as it is based on wins AND %.

x666satan666x -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 6:06:58)

the problem with this is that everyone would make 160+ str build to 1 or 2 hit everyone or lose in 2 turns.

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 6:21:30)

@ Deadly Poison

You Make An Excellent Point. The "No Losses" Idea Would Negate The "Desire And Need" For SOME To Buy Varium (Free Player) Or Others To Buy More Varium To "Power Up".

This Goes Against Their Entire System To Get Players To Spend Money On A Continuing Basis, So They Can Have A 'Competetive' Advantage.

The Game Would Be More FUN If We Had No Loses. But Would Lose It's 'Edge'. We'd All Be Shiny Happy People With A Bit More Money In Our Pockets, Which Is Not The Intent Of The Designers.

For Example:

I'd Play 2vs2 All Day With Nothing But Light Blades Equipped Just For Giggles.

I'd Leave 2vs2 Battles Instantly With Some Partners... Saying.. "I Don't Like You". Right Before I Disappear. Just To Annoy Some Of My Fellow Players, Who Know Me Well.

I'd Be Quite The Little Devil If There Were No Consequences (Loses).

I Could Battle Angels Holocaust In A Best Of 7 1vs1 Championship.

This Would All Be Epicly Fun And Amusing...But The Profit's For EpicDuel Would Undoubtly Decline A Bit I Believe.

2vs2 Play Would Decline Even Worse If No One "Cared" About Losing Or Their Record. And That's A Scary Thought, Seeing How 2vs2 Is Already Very Broken.

Maybe... In Another World (DreamLand)...They Could Have A Tornament Server Or Arena (Hint Hint)...

Where Players (Paying Members Only, So They Still Make Money Off Us, Which Makes Them Happy) Could Go In A No-Loss Zone Style Of Play For Fun!

A Place Where The Wins Do NOT Apply To Factions, War, Influence, Leaderboards Or Battle Records...Where Friends (And Enemies) Could Meet To Do Private Battles, Fun Battles, Wild Builds, Tornaments, Etc...

JUST FOR FUN!

Wouldn't That Be AMAZING? To Include That In Game And Still Keep The "Core" System As It Is?

They Clearly Have The Coding/Means To Do This, As Seen With George Lowe (Boss Fight).

So...With That Said, I Would Like To Think I've Just ENHANCED ~ Angels Holocaust's ~ Wonderful Idea. Consider It A "Tech" Up Of Sorts. lol

And I'm Always Happy To Help Out A Good Friend.

Stupid idea.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 7:34:54)

can the people who didnt like the idea of removing ur win record please actually READ the very first post again.
quote:

Now heres my ingenious plan, why don't we remove our losses from the game.

I like the idea of only being able to see the losses yourself like Ashari said [to see how ur builds are doing] but this might have
the opposite effect from what alot of us want. if wins is the big deal then cheap builds will be even more popular and thats bad

drinde -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 7:58:05)

Why not just show a win/loss rec and ratio for every time you changed build? Still keeping overall wins, course.

8x -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 8:54:49)

quote:

I've been following very closely to the oped topics of this game, and I've finally found the solution. The players of this game don't care about whats oped or not they care about their win ratios.

Now heres my ingenious plan, why don't we remove our losses from the game. They serve no purpose and if we remove them the players won't complain when they lose to a random crit or block.

If we were to remove our losses the players would be free to pursue any build that they wish. At the moment caster builds are useless to mages, with my idea implemented mages would actually try it because they have nothing to lose.

People would probably stop complaining about classes being OPed, but there would be tons of stat abusing players (Example: Merc with enough stats to meet requirements, super low dex, about 85 hp and 41 energy and all other in strength).

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 9:05:06)

@ED_TankMage,trust me when i say that i don't just post something unless i'm entirely sure what i'm talking about.The leader boards have nothing to do with it.Why did they add the POWER up button?It's psychological,since young boys rather than young girls[:D] are very much competitive at most things they do,losing a lot isn't fun.Most people that play epicduel are teens and eventually the whole losses thing psychologically plays you to buy varium.

And since the losses get added to your record permanently it's not nice wandering around and everyone seeing it,for a teen boy that is.The losses are there for a reason,that reason is business.All of you ignored this simple fact and this will never be implemented for the reasons i already gave before this,just expanded.In a PVP game like this one where there isn't much you can make money off of you need extra's,this is one of those extras,so this ''ingenious plan'' isn't very ingenious if you're a business man,which nightwraith is.

Go think about it for a second,how many people actually try to get on the leader boards compared to how many don't?Most people play this game to have more wins than losses,that's why there are wins and losses,to psychologically make you aware of how ''good'' you are.I should really become a psychologist,the way i can see patterns and how the human mind reacts to them makes me a genius,seriously[8D]

T.600 -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 9:14:10)

@ Deadly poison: Do you speak from a teen point of view or someone who has studied about the psyhcological developments during puberty?

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 9:34:41)

I myself am not a teen anymore so i can't really.In life however iv'e encountered many psychological situations or seen other people in them,this has made the whole win/loss ratio stand out like a blister to me.People want it done with,but it's here to stay and for a reason.

9001WaysToLaugh -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 9:37:50)

Removing your losses should be optional, but still great idea :P!

PivotalDisorder -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 9:58:11)

@Deadlypoison: clearly you dont know girls.

they are far more competitive than guys and hold grudges forever. yes guys compete but not in the malicious way that women usually do.
and female mercs almost always have the cheapest most powerful build lol

TurkishIncubus -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 10:11:04)

I support but the only bad thing is it will increase STR users , If this happen i will Change to Merc Today :D

PumKing -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 11:22:44)

@vitodown

naw, that wouldn't be a problem. because instead, if you only count the wins, the ED team could just up the stakes on how many wins it takes to get to that thing in your window that signifies a warrior tech mage of legendary killer thing XD, love this idea, no more hating on people for win/loss ratios XD

helloguy -> RE: I Found the Answer (4/4/2011 12:09:40)
