Wraith -> EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 13:26:26)

In Beta, I recall there being 900-1000 players in Epic at any random time, 600-700 in Exile, 250 or so in Legion, and 400-500 in Doom.

Now we have about 800 in Epic, 400-600 in Exile, 0-200 in Legion, and no one in doom.

That's crazy. Sometimes Exile has more, but...well, its the time zone difference.

My conclusion is that in Beta, more people played, which is why they had cheaper prices, since more people bought Varium. Also, the server can only hold 850? people, while it could hold up to 1100? people in Beta. WHat do you think of this?

Remorse -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 13:45:43)

^ yeh are sorta agree but i don't remember that much of a player count diffrence, i also think another main reason is the player community is not what it was orignally like in beta, now u go to oz w7 and get bombarded with fame requests..

Wraith -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 14:43:32)

^You have a point, but still, ED loses its players.

Zean Zapple -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 14:47:53)

I did notice this... But I don't think it has anything to do with ED's popularity. More or less it has to do with the locking system.

~Zean

Retrosaur -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 14:52:53)

@ZeanZapple
Agreed.

xxmirxx -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 14:57:35)

You guys do know its summer time and molst people play less online and beta had much less people. In fact gamma has way more players.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 15:00:53)

@above
in summer=no school
no school= more time to play
and eventually u run out of stuff to do in summer

xxmirxx -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 15:37:39)

More play outside or go camping or even work more hours.

Wraith -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 15:44:04)

Xxmirxx and zman are both right. I prefer playing more during the summer, but some people like Ashari play less. I found that out via IRC.

edwardvulture -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 16:39:46)

Sadly they have less than 5000 likes on facebook.

AQWPlayer -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 17:19:33)

ED started losing popularity since gamma started. Now I am starting to incline towards AQW because of the new necromancer class. AQW is constantly improving, but ED? This game has just started to improve and they took a week off :P

Danny J -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 17:33:10)

You guys should know still that this popularity thing started from all those updates Focus, Class Change(Think every1 who is Varium changes to the winning class and use the Winnin'4ever build),Juggernaut,Founders got 1000 varium but others who played in beta didnt get their 1000 varium. I have to say those who missed founder are probably the ones who played before BETA..
Game turned into an huge money scam( lets say Few dollars for a weapon as i meant by 995-1100 varium )

Epic Pwnser -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 18:00:52)

You'll see more people playing in the summer and the most I've seen was epic full, exile full, and legion at about 500 people. Rarely is doom open.

For me, I think this game is getting more and more boring. Very little new content to be interested from.
But, I got records to be interested about, I just need to find some time when I can do that.
PM for more info, especially if ur a tech mage with founder, betas all enhanced. ;)

Shadronica -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 19:40:23)

EpicDuel has lost more players than I can remember.

I admit that I have found interest elsewhere too which is less costly and by far more polished with less imbalance. I am once again enjoying being a full healing mage there.

I will continue to watch what happens with ED in hopes it improves.

T.600 -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 20:08:54)

A lot of us have started playing AQW (including myself and New Hope just to name a few) because it pleases us with constant updates, new features and it is a great game! All the devs care, the only problem is the lag issues which they are trying to fix because they care!

The only reason I go on Epicduel is because I wish to be emperor, and to see the 'updates'.

edwardvulture -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 20:21:12)

Its probably because it takes too much money to win and keep up with the latest gear. AND its treating its f2p players not very well

Sparticus -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 20:38:44)

Last year this same thread came up, it predicted the demise of ED by the end of the summer. Needless to say, ED survived and I'm fairly sure the same thing will happen this summer. Watch for some summer updates that bring in new customers and by the end of the summer break we should see more players on the top few servers.

Retrosaur -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 20:50:42)

@Edward

What are you talking about? Look at the Player Suggestion Shop. That's all you need to know. Most of the stats and damage are higher than varium items for the most part. Marauder Boomstick? That's one damage above boomstick and only four stat points off. Who can really complain? Before, the only pistol with the most stat points was Doom Cannon with +12, and that was a seasonal rare.

Wraith -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 20:52:20)

Mmhm, so basically more players come int he summer? I was so worried this game was going to die!

Lock requested... I don't really need more people telling me the same thing.

@T.600 and Shadronica: Don't leave!

Removed lock request so this doesn't get locked again by accident. ~Ashari

unQualified -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/11/2011 23:43:52)

the AE games are good because they are f2p. They give the same weapons but some are slightly stronger. for example ; the enhancements in AQW are nearly the same ass the member one but slightly weaker. It is also affordable for low levels

PenyihiR -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/12/2011 0:29:32)

Ewww..400-500 in Doom server on Beta???
I dont think so..,(Im also Beta Player)

In Beta.,
Doom Still like Under 200 Player.,
Btw
I agree Epicduel Losing popularity for now.,

Rooster -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/12/2011 4:33:02)

Those are some weird numbers. Maybe it depends on what time of day you log in, but over here in Europe, it feels like there's significantly more players now. Most of the time, it can happen to you now that Epic is full. That was never only the case during very popular times in Beta. The server cap reduction from 1000 to 800 happened already in Beta btw. I guess it was to get some more players into the second server.

Lord GaGa -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/12/2011 5:05:01)

Its just the locking system..

Xxbbooxx -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/12/2011 5:08:01)

some people left cause they coudn't pilot / dummy when server lockup came out too.

Hun Kingq -> RE: EpicDuel -- Losing Popularity!? (6/12/2011 10:26:31)

The real problem is the battle matching system, being a lower level you are put against a higher level over and over again so you lose over and over again, who wants that, no one.

Couple things they can do
1. match players with players that has no armor to each other and the other way around.
2. match players with close to equal damage weapons
3. match players with robots with other players with bots or disable the bot of the player with the bot to make it a fair fight
4. Arcade battle give players a choice to fight an NPC or a player because when you go in the arcade battle and your a level 26 without armor and put against a level 31 with armor, stun guns, robot, bunny Aux, you lost before you started.

So fix the battle matching system and you will see more players.
