ok if you find the update fine is ok by me but i play 1vs1 all the time and if you don't pulverize strength build with the following 3 attack your done for first energy bot second physical bot and thirds zooka(also consider the fact that even though they hit you insanely high they get rage which is ridiculous)

having a focus builds means having a weak Strength attacks ,heal and a longer rage wait since the first two attack do a highly damage

5 bonus and strength spammers are noobs. I can respect the strategic strength spammer, but that almost doesn't exist.

Now lets be more civil this a discussion not a place to rant on players but the current gameplay.

u probably lagged. or maybe he lagged.

voidance -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 15:41:47)

You need to reword your theory, I have no clue what you were trying to say/prove/defend.

Sageofpeace -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 15:45:37)

i do not understand some player thinking so to have a build everybody have to approve it

if you use a 5 focus build you are a noob who don't bother thinking

if you put your stat at strength you are noob you are just putting all your stat in one place

but im not a noob if i do the following build even though i lose all the time

107 Heal
51 Energy
Strength 36
Dex 49
Tech 37
Support 50

spectra phantom -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 15:47:34)

im 100% supportive with this robot nerf.

finaly we are free from 5 focus

the most common builds now:
5 focus
str (bh,tlm)
suport(non var merc,some of the tech mages)

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 15:59:56)

Support builds work fine against str TLM proof : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7GRdR4aU30&feature=channel_video_title

str TLM is not OPED in ratio , its very easy to defeat a str TLM but if you say they are OPED in killing speed than i say idk maybe.

Nexus... -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:00:26)

Robots were always meant to be a "supporting" tool, not one to base an entire build around. I know most of you speaking out against this update probably have not been here very long, but for people like myself, or Goldslayer, we remember a time when robots did not exist and the next big feature was going to be "skill perks" (the idea of robots was never to be able to produce raw damage). Titan ended up recycling the code, and making robots instead; the first of which was the Assault Bot, which "perked" a debuffed skill. However even then, the assault bots second attack could be overused, but not to the extent that the later Gamma bots "raw damage" attacks could be. To put it simply, through the remainder of Beta and through all of Gamma, robots have been in a state of overpowered disrepair, allowing players to spam 1 stat, and then utilize their robot to do massive amounts of damage, which was never the original intention. However, how is this different from say, spamming Strength? Last time I checked, spamming technology raised your resistance. However the biggest thing to remember, is that robots do not require energy to use. Sure they are blockable, but so is Berzerker, and Maul, all of which require energy.

In my opinion this update was a massive success, one of the best I have seen in years (yes, years). Why? Because focus and robots have been overpowered and overused for a very long time. This update has, among other things, put robots in the place that they were meant to be. Sure there is still some work to be done, but to all of you whining that your robot doesn't work, it still does! You just can't spam it anymore, which makes everyone happier. So go out, find a new build, and stop crying. Its time for you to start relying on your head to play this game, not long overpowered stats, tools, and copied builds such as robots, focus, and the spammed +5 focus tank.

Have a nice day.

Prophet

goldslayer1 -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:04:15)

@nexus
yup robots weren't suppose to be raw damage for tanking builds.
if u have alot of defense and tank, then that advantage should come to a disadvantage somewhere else (like offense)

Sageofpeace -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:07:50)

@Nexus

do you give strategy class? i would to be in your class!!!

Exactly. This is all there has been to it for a long time. People just go with sad copies of working builds, making a god majority asily counterable.

Nexus... -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:09:35)

@Sage

Lol nope not yet. But now that you mention it....

Maybe some day :P

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:09:43)

i agree Nexus... 's every single word

DeathGuard -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:11:19)

@Turkish: I do same as you.

Sageofpeace -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:11:56)

@Nexus

thats great them i be your first pupil :)

frosty123 -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:31:50)

Yea str builds arnt that hard. Frensy is the problem. I have like 37 health and they have 1-5 health. they frensy i lose. Simple.

Sageofpeace -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:36:52)

well the problem is that yet again we are been force to untrain and use a build that not all of us like

LANDIS -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:51:05)

I've merged all the threads discussing the The balance action taken of the Robot Nerf. Please keep all discussion related to the change to robots here. What you see as the pros and cons of the change, etc. Thanks!

Yes, robots are a tool and you can base your build around it; is anyone going to stop you? Yes, anyone who won't use this build. I was here when robots did not exist, beta time (early beta before energy bot), and robots were only one type, holding an energy attack and an anti-nerfing special. They were no updates to skills so we had to condition ourselves to how we will use a robot in our build if you bought one. You say that 'spamming' one stat (tech) for the sake of bettering a robot was out of scope for the developers, that they said that was not the original intention?

The next update is almost here, and at ??? EST we will go live with EpicDuel Beta 1.0.9a!

Sorry to all those who waited patiently, but we will have to push to the update back to Saturday afternoon. Keep in mind this is a HUGE new feature, and we don't want to release something that that will break. We have to make this deadline so we can get to Cysero's wedding on time. You don't want to know what will happen if we're late! :!:

We experimented with grenades in the battle engine and found that they were either not useful or seriously broke the game's balance, however, we were able to use recycle some of that code and combine it with our skill perk concept to produce:

ROBOTS!!!
These feisty androids can wreak havoc on your opponents by delivering a standard attack or a special skill. These bots are designed to serve players at all levels, as their damage scales with Technology and Focus as a player levels up. The special skills will be unlike anything currently available, making for some truly interesting builds and dynamically changing dueling tactics. The first prototype robot will be available from the Overlord Guard at the Overlord Facility, Mirv in the Barrens, Talia in Fortune City, Ulysses in the Wasteland, and Xraal in the Bio Dome. We are very excited about this feature as it introduces nearly limitless possibilities for new skill and battle strategy! Plus, in the future you may be able to place one of these guys to guard your house!

Quoted from Dax ^

YOU READ THAT NEXUS AND TELL ME ROBOTS WEREN'T MEANT TO DEAL "RAW" DAMAGE.

Also, no. I did not say technology spam is different from strength spam; mind you they are 2 different stats, please quote me on this. Also, no we could not spam a robot in battle in the beginning as both attacks have cooldown 4 turns and what difference does it make in any event of blocking when the attack is neutralized? Robots are terribly inaccurate, and people using them will not be happy when nerfed like this. Nexus, don't assume from your computer you are sitting at, that you can tell someone like me is crying even if you meant a term of phrase. Why are you calling someone like me air-headed when you say 'use your head' and change builds, stop abusing stats, when you yourself will not obey? Call me a hypocrite but I find people like you to be ignorant to our issues or opinions on how we enjoy the gameplay of EpicDuel.

Don't bother saying 'have a nice day' being improper as such.

frosty123 -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 16:54:48)

Well if you dont like it dont use it. I will still stick with my 5 focus build because for 1 i have an assualt bot. And for two the assualt bot is just to help out. And for three my build has many posibilities. Im fine with the update.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 17:15:34)

@Edvardvulture Please dont turn this into another flame topic.

@Nexus People can play this game anyway they want. Also just because people are standing up for their themselves does not make them crying. Robots is a weapon a tool people use credits and varuim on and if they want to base their build around it then so be it. Not everyone one want to be a super smart strategic player and sit for hours at their computer screen thinking of some new build especially when their is no creative builds left thanks to constant nerfing,stat requirements and stat reduction. Since when has this game ever been truly about strategy? I been hear for nearly a year since september of last year. Even then I saw no true battle that depends on strategy but it depends on whoever can get the rares and has all the varuim who wins. So if you have a Strategical Class that is based on skills and strategy I would love to see it.

Digital X -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 17:35:46)

I've stuck with a 5 Focus build for a vast majority of my playing time, i have tried a STR build, and i have tried a SUPP build (which is my personal favourite). 5 Focus just feels "comfortable" to play, if you understand my meaning, most attacks types (Sidearm, Auxillary) are pretty balanced, not given the placing of enhancements.

edwardvulture -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 17:47:28)

Pro: Possibly more variety and creativity
Con: it won't matter much because 5 bonus is going into the 110 HP range soon

Stabilis -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 17:49:42)

The agility feature will lower the defence and resistance hopefully enough to turn high health tank into high health w/ low defence and resistance.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Robot Nerf Discussion Thread (8/3/2011 17:51:24)

@green
agility needs to be modified to allow players to have higher hp.
