kosmo -> we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 12:45:09)

my opinion:
more choices 4 non-vars=much much much more players=same win rate advantage 4 vars=evryone is happy!
this thread DOESN' T have to contain financial discussions,i just want to give a voice to all non vars out there

kosmo -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 12:57:53)

i d like to see some "balance" staff guys testing non var weps, we r part of the game and "part of the balace" it wold be nice to see

Santa ClawZz -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 13:14:08)

You're absolutely right, awesome person.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 13:34:59)

100% right. I honestly believe the devs need to play while using some Non-var weapons that are not enhanced and see how far they get. So they can finally understand our frustration.

Retrosaur -> RE: The GAP (2/1/2012 13:40:29)

I prefer shopping at The Rift. That's my opinion.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 13:41:11)

lolz yeah the devs/mods/ balance team should play with un enhance non var weps. betcha they would go for mjolnir and cadens XD. or they could just simply make a char and play it to lvl 34 WITHOUT npcing and exp boosters lets see how long they can last XD i give em bout 1 month and they would totally give up trying to get to lvl 34.

midnight assassin -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 13:49:46)

I like Isiah's idea. 100% supported. Possibility is that they're going to copy a build.

Wraith -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 18:41:05)

I'd sorry, but I don't agree. Non-Variums should not have equal win ratios with Variums. That would wreck the point of Varium advantage.

Also you're the part of ED, that relies on the paying players so you can play, we pay your costs :/

But trudat, Non-Varium needs a buff.

nico0las -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 18:43:32)

Agreeing wholeheartedly with Wraith. Although non-variums DEFINITELY need a buff, they should not have equal rations. Then, there would be no point in purchasing a varium package. We, the varium population, are the largest part of the income for the game, and by doing so deserve the advantage we have (even if non variums are a bit too underpowered).

Anyways, I agree with other comments, the test team should try and play with the non-varium gear available. I've had my fair share of non varium time, and learned from it.
It'd be quite something if they did the same. (No offense intended there).

rej -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/1/2012 18:46:09)

I will just assume for now that "the gup" is a typo for "the Gap"

Now that we have that out of the way... I do agree that non var players need more/slightly more powerful items. Luckily, the suggestion shop should take care of a large part of that problem.

Lycus -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 2:19:23)

I'd like to point out that one of the main reasons Non-Varium Weapons haven't came recently is because of all the events going on. Typically most Seasonal Events come with Varium weapons, and since NightWraith and Charfade have been working hard on the Frysteland war etc. they haven't had a huge amount of time to introduce new Christmas/Valentines weapons, so the usual new Package ones were made, and last years rares re-introduced. Now we have a bit of time to work on purely weapons, hence why we're doing the Suggestion shop release, you hopefully will see more Non-Varium weapons being introduced! :)

xxmirxx -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 2:25:43)

Thats because you guys are try distract us against other problems like luck and non varium not having robots and how non varium have outdated weapons. Lycus you and your team are major reason why we have OP classes and OP weapons its your guys job to find bugs and to even out classes as well weapons. I am getting annoy how test team week after week are keeping playing game not there fault putting blame on dev's.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 3:08:04)

I really think that this game needs to be more like Pokemon, like has anyone here played Pokemon recently? They have deflects and crits yet they manage to outsell every game each year. I'm sure that if we had a rng like them this game would be successful. Whose with me?

Colarndo -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 3:26:11)

Don't scold Lyrus. He is a fluffy furry wolf!

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 3:39:35)

@Mir, balance is important, but it isn't everything. With the recent progression in storyline, EpicDuel has much more depth than before. I feel that it is much more fun to play; I'm not sure about you. You are entitled to your opinion that balance is of primary importance to the extent that everything must be perfectly balanced before any other features are introduced. But you have to understand that the devs do not have to conform to your point of view.

Nor should you blame the balance team for the imperfect balance; it is a difficult and demanding job which they have volunteered for. They're not getting paid for this, as far as I know. If you are unhappy with how things are, be constructive about it and give suggestions in the balance thread. Accusing others isn't going to change anything; you are simply undermining the time and effort the balance team has put in for EpicDuel.

@Angels
Pokemon isn't a particularly good example of a game with ideal balance...

First are blance team is tester team so I feel we should a little annoy. like Angels Holocaust said this week usually make new weapons OP but after pomo then nerf weapons. therefore its teaster fault for giving okay which then leads.

First dev's aren't blance team sure do testing but mainly look for bugs were others are staff mods were they are tester so please don't put words in my mouth. Silver Sky Magician first those tester make choice to be tester they know exactly how hard job second as we know they don't get pay just like we didn't know get free varium as well free pomo but now we do know now.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 4:09:05)

Non varium weps is fine, but the problem is enhancements. The gap between fully enhanced Varium and Non varium is absolutely fine but 90% of the Variums is enhanced while 90% of non variums is not enhanced thats the main problem.

You dont need to be genius to understand enhancements are the problem, Enhancements are more expansive than the weps you buy :/ its ridiculous.

Also look from other side, lets say Gap between Varium and Non Varium closed, Who will pay 50$ in every 1-2 months just to get little advantage ? Well for my self if the Gap become less i will not buy varium. So decreasing Gap also should equal to decreasing Varium prices which will be bad for ED financialy.

Dont get me wrong i also want less Gap between varium and non varium, so i can play without spending any money which will be better for me :), im just telling what i think about the topic.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 4:29:38)

@Mir

I'm not putting words in your mouth; what I meant was that it is the devs' choice to focus on non-balance features, not the testing team. I may have misunderstood you when I interpreted your words as condemning the 'distractions' of non-balance features, which are the devs' area of responsibility, not the testing team.

I don't think I can progress in this debate with you unless I understand what you mean by 'distractions'.

Actually, I totally agree, but surely giving the Non-Varium users a chance to win isn't too much?

IMO, it should be 25-30% Varium Advantage, 65-70% Skill.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 4:42:22)

^

It is far too much. Because the implication is that varium users will only have a 30-35% chance to win.

Just kidding ;D

Anyway, it isn't that easy to determine what buffs and nerfs should be put into place to get the non-variums' win-rate into that range; in fact I would say that it is practically impossible. The last thing we need is varium users complaining about wasting their money, only to be continuously beaten by non-varium users. I feel that the simplest thing to do is to decrease the prices of credit enhancements, perhaps by 30-50%. The numbers are a wild guess, but I feel that the concept has value.

xxmirxx -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 4:42:22)

distractions
player suggestion shop thats distractions so basically dev's would put out new weapons and making non varium happy. When fact is how long it takes to get update non varium weapons. thrown you off problems with new robots and OP classes. heres quote what JariTheMighty said hes very much correct.
quote:

Outdated equipment is the biggest problem. Credit players constantly have to use items below level cap, it's no wonder there are less and less non varium players battling other than NPCs.
heres another qoute from Luna_moonraider she correct as well.
quote:

yes a non varium can beat a varium but it is a uphill task and the his is more like a straight wall. the devs expect us to climb wall like we r spiderman. most non varium cant even climb the bloody wall.

drinde -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 4:46:32)

@Silva Sky

Actually, before the edit, I meant as in the Non-Varium has a 65-70% chance to match the Varium user's chances in winnning, not 65-75 vs 30-25.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 4:48:54)

@Mir

...In that case, I don't understand your concerns. Wouldn't the suggestion shop solve the problem you spoke of, if only temporarily?

Furthermore, if it's lack of weapons that you're concerned with, that issue has little to do with the balance team and more with the devs' decisions to release weapons. Personally I've never felt that lack of weapons has been a problem; there are many good non-varium seasonal weapons in the latter half of the year, and rather good non-varium permanent weapons in the current suggestion shop and Old Fortune City.

Moreover, ever since the devs have made the decision to stop buffing seasonals, I think varium promos haven't gotten significantly better, but rather have different effects that cater to different builds. Correct me if I'm wrong.

@drinde

I know, but I just couldn't resist the opportunity :P

xxmirxx -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 5:01:40)

Also as well varium players they will see how amazing new weapons are and thinking how awesome this is when they will for get about how OP CH are and how new robots are over powering. Sure it seem great for non varium getting new weapons but that doesn't solve problem were non varium still got no robots. seriously how long it takes b4 we get new weapons. by the time we get new weapons are winning percent takes beating.

AllenLingChen -> RE: we re just talking of the gup (2/2/2012 5:32:52)

The game would be really nice if the weapons did not cost varium, but enhances did. This creates the stimulation that everyone can have an equal play, but you can use your varium to pull ahead while some non varium would have to earn it. This means that varium gives you a small edge.
