This revamped currency system does have more flexibility, but other than that the prices remain the same unless the player makes for example more than 1 large varium package purchase, giving that player not only the top promotion reward but also 15, 000 credits if purchased within the promotional session's timeframe.

I am a complete critic of any "improvements" to the varium buying feature, since the removal of the right to sell promotional items.
(I know that it was to prevent "hacks" which didn't make too much sense)

@Battle Elf: that was the official line. the real reason was the purchasing of promo packs just to sell them for credits.

some players bought so many delta promos they had over 500,000 credits, and they didn't have to fight a single fight.
now they get their wish, they can have the extra credits, no harm, no foul.

Okay let me just get this straight:

People who bought Varium before do not get any keys? I bought 1250 Varium but did not get 2,200 credits to go with it, and now you guys are implementing keys, which means if I bought 1250 Varium today, I would also get 4,400 credits theoretically, right?

And I assume that buying a package (say 10,000 Varium), I get 15,000 credits to go with it AND 5 keys which I can either spend on the Delta Knight/Bio Borg/15,000 MORE credits, correct? So theoretically I could be able to get 10,000 Varium and 30,000 Credits? Also, what happens if people already have Delta Knight in their inventory let's say, and buys another 10,000 Varium Package and tries to buy Delta Knight again, what would happen? Would there just be a "please select different package" thing come up, or would they get 2 DK in their Inv?

Man I feel cheated out of 4,400 credits >.> Ah well. More credits never hurt.

And yes, the idea of saving keys makes total sense to me. I mean, apparently 5 keys = 15,000 credits = Delta Knight = Bio Borg+Bot. First of all, the Borg and Bot together cost WAY more than 15,000 credits and also costs varium as well. Non-Varium Armors (which are worse than Var Armors) cost at least 15,000 as well. So yeah, relative imbalance. The bonus credits should be a little higher IMO, for all of the side packages.

This new system does not directly give you a better deal. It primarily gives a better deal to people who buy multiple varium packages within 1 promo period, or bought one of the items in game as it allows them to choose something else.

With the current method if you bought a 10k pack and got the Bio Battle Gear, then bought another 10k pack you would only get the varium and credits, you wouldn't get anything extra. With this new system you can buy a 10k pack once and get the bio battle gear, then buy another 10k pack and get the delta armor or 15k extra credits, giving you a total of 30k credits instead of just the 15k. Or you could choose any combination of the lower bonuses. Basically it allows you to always you to always get full value for buying a pack rather than it being better to wait for the next promo to come around.

I thought that outrage regarding promotions occurred during the Gamma phase? Maybe I am mistaken? Anyhow, from what I can remember, I was able to sell my Gamma Bot and Bike and buy the package another time. I do not recall being able to ever sell my Delta equipment until the newer promotions like that of the Frost came by?

now lets take a look at the other packages improvements.

OLD 1000 AP Pack: 500 varium, Starter Kit
NEW 1000 AP Pack: 500 varium, 1000 credits AND 1 key

OLD 2000 AP Pack: 1250 varium,
NEW 2000 AP Pack: 1250 varium, 2200 credits AND 2 keys

OLD 4000 AP Pack: 2500 varium, 3000 credits
NEW 4000 AP Pack: 2500 varium, 4500 credits AND 3 keys

OLD 7000 AP Pack: 5000 varium, 8000 credits
NEW 7000 AP Pack: 5000 varium, 8000 credits AND 4 keys



their is also a new 1000 artix points pack,

@Pivotal the 1000 point package is the old Starter Varium package it isn't exactly new in terms of releases but compared to other packages it is new

There were several primary goals with the new package system:

1) Allow more flexibility with what you get. Before, you were stuck with whatever pack of items were bundled with the Varium. So if you were a mid level player and wanted 10k Varium, you were stuck with a bunch of items you couldn't use. Now you can pick any combination that works for you. Same for a high level player that only wanted a little bit of Varium, you had to take a bunch of starter items that were useless to you.

2) Give us more freedom with item packs and options to include with Varium. We can now have multiple promos going on at once, or include whatever bonuses we want through the lock/key system, and you still have complete choice on what you want. We can also freely add item packs and other goodies that you can get with lower packages, instead of just the top one.

3) Spice up the old interface. As some of you said, it was a little bland and outdated looking, and this gave us the opportunity to pretty it up. :)

*Le Sigh* maybe I should have waited to buy 1250 varium. Now I *lose* 4,400 free credits /le sigh.

Ah well. Still don't *quite* think it's fair. ED has a database of all records of bought items right? (I don't know if this would be easy or not), but run like a program through, checking each account that has bought varium, then converting the packages bought to keys (If you bought 10,000 varium a year ago, you would get 5 keys let's say), and then convert keys to credits. That way we get moar credits!!!! :D :D :D

@OWA: I edited the comment out of my post, and added the 1k pack to my analysis. it is improved, and doesn't force the start pack on you
but it isn't an entirely new pack like you said :) still, we get more overall for all the packs except the 10k one, which just gets more variety.

well there isn't much you can do with the good ole 1K point package you can get Starter gear or credits. I believe you can sell the starter gear for credits and varium so I would go for that

Correction: AE doesn't do refunds. There is 30 day refund policy in other games IF let's say Varium is untouched but if you buy something with it, then that's it.

If you bought a 10k Varium package a year ago, you got the same amount of Varium, Credits, and items as you would now. The difference now is that you have the option to get different item packages and/or credits with your Varium.
