So you're saying we should settle for an inferior game purely because the devs made the wrong hiring decisions? If you make a mistake, correct it. Some of the less active artists can help the balance team or the storywriting team.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/20/2014 1:52:14)

@ silver sky magician

I am not saying that either. Also in case you haven't noticed there are 6 staff members with only 5 active due to cindy going for her degree. 3 are artists who have no clue about balance and are actively busy with art while 2 are programmers. If those 3 weren't active with art that is one thing, but that isn't the case here.

Plus in case you haven't noticed balance takes a lot more testing then art does which is the main reason why they can crank out art a lot faster then balance. Not to mention if they focus 100% on balance and don't get the proper results (which has been the case for a while sadly) while throwing nothing else out the people who like content will quit while the people who want balance will still be ticked because of bad balance.

That is why they do a combination of both. Also just because they don't mention something =/= they aren't doing it. Look how long it took for the passive to active update to come after being mentioned even thought that was a bust IMO. It took a long time to do. Balance can't happen at the snap of fingers.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/20/2014 2:12:47)

the problem with the current balance is that the system is too complex, here is what i mean:
-constantly worried about your energy, limiting the use of a few cores and skills, pushing people to abuse abuse strength or other stats so it would be simple enough for them to play.
-most out of the 6 classes are just not powerful enough to compete with the few powerful ones. we are lacking versatility
-removal of passives is the main reason that juggernaut is now a broken battle mode, sure passives are not necessary but making them something that is somewhat useless just don't cut it.
-weapons should have at least somewhat of a difference in stats even if it's just minor, subconsciously i don't like seeing stuff that looks deadly having the same stat and damage as a wooden stick. personally that is just destroying diversity not improving it.
-sometimes i wonder if it is really aimed at a younger audience or an older one, people below 18 just wants to have fun and see stuff go boom, surely the earlier epicduel in beta or gamma wasn't balanced in the least, but each class can counter one another depending on which build you are using.

just try to make it simple because in the end it's just a game not some rocket science, i'd rather have each class being overpowered running around destroying each other than only having 1 class that is actually flexible and playable. if we got past this unfruitful attempt to balance the game then we could actually get some exciting/fun content(and try to release as many cores as you can without trying to balance them or think that they aren't good for the game, because who is gonna abuse a few powerful cores if we have heaps of uber useful and powerful cores? you never know unless you try)

i think that the devs have a different definition for fun than we do, we don't want something outrageously ridiculous, but we do want to have 'lots' of 'usable' options. all that the testers care about is making sure that everything ingame works but are not thinking about if the game is actually fun for players or not.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/20/2014 2:28:30)

@ trizzcentrino

Passive to active update wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't forget to cover up the major flaw which was put extreme stress on energy for 5 of the 6 classes. A hint to the stress this change would bring was the balance change they made before hand which was adding energy costs to cores.

IIRC as soon as that happened the forums were full of complaints about how this added stress to energy due to certain classes having trouble with energy. Then they removed passives which didn't have energy problems in exchange for actives with

1 cost energy adding more stress to the problem
2 replacing the passives with actives that were more of a nerf than a buff to majority of the classes.

it just isn't worth it to try and play defensive due to energy costs where as offensive builds (AKA strength builds) are easy to use and require little energy.

If they actually did something to actually relieve the energy stress that would be a step in the right direction.

@ mother1

I do understand that there are 3 devs who are artists and they should keep making the art, but try to focus less on it and try to balance the game 1st. For all i care they can continue with the art but they need to stop making updates only for art and add some kind of balance IMO. For the other 2 devs who do know about balance, they should work on that and let the artists worry about the art.

As for balance they went from bad to worse since the start of Omega and they haven't made it any better though they have tried. We can all agree that passives to actives was anticipated by all of us but when it arrived it wasn't what we expected. If something doesn't go well, you shouldn't continue with it (From my experiences in life).

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/20/2014 2:38:25)

@above the problem is that they made it so darn complex that nobody can even enjoy the game anymore, we have to constantly worry about how we spend our energy and like mother1 said it is no fun being on the defensive.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/20/2014 3:27:11)

@ inflamed fury

If no updates come in period anyone who likes content outside of balance will be annoyed. The reason they make art updates because it is easy and quick to do. Balance updates however take a lot more time to put in because they need to test the updates and make sure they work correctly. It is a lot tricker to do balance updates for this reason unlike art.

Plus if you haven't noticed people don't like band aid fixes which is what we will get if they make a balance change every week without putting time into test them. Not to mention they need to cover any flaws found which is often overlooked.

The passive to active update is a good example of this since they overlooked the energy strain it would cause which in return lead to band aid fixes to try and fix the problem which in turn weren't balanced either (Static grenade and energy parasite both band aid fixes for the energy problem caused.)

InFlamed Fury -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/20/2014 9:18:25)

@ mother1

Fair enough, but if they release an update that isn't successful they should remove it and try to be rid of the flaws in it, not leave the game unbalanced and then do band-aid fixes, that will just make things worse for the balance because they won't actually solve anything, they just try to make other things more powerful and people don't like them as you have said.

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/22/2014 17:21:41)

Um... This new battlegear is massive.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/22/2014 18:00:59)

Still though, I wish the weapons would come at your level.(and have a static sell price so it never goes above 10000)

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/22/2014 18:12:18)

Yeah. They could at least come leveled. Stats cost so much that not even that 10,000 credits would be enough to fully upgrade the items.

Seteriel -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 8:22:35)

I know this has been discussed in different threads already, but still:
The free prizes should be awarded for both sides: the Legion palyers honorful participated in the both wars but went out empty handed for all their effort. Considering the current state of the player base, instead of thinking about/coding complicated "rebalance" options to make both alignments contest-able for the wars, it would be easier to just make the awards even for both sides.
On the other hand... complicated rulesets for the following wars, including "rebalance" options to make both alignments contest-able could prove fun...
*indecided* o.o

What do you mean with "massive" ?

RageSoul -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 10:08:56)

@above
Probably size . I saw one using it . It's quite big.

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 10:52:56)

Yeah it's glitches, if you look at the char page it's a regular size, but if you look at it in a duel the items are twice the size of the player.

Seteriel -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 11:45:25)

Just saw a Cyber with the blades. That is really massive :D

Didn't pay attention at the start of the match: do the prize weapons "activate" and then "grow" to this size ?
(there are some items that are small when in inventory/stats page but large when in fight, like Beta blades or Exile/Legion battlegear)

Rayman -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 12:10:12)

That's because the items that are shown in the char pages are Like Turned Off because the character isn't in a battle, but when you jump to a battle they will turn on for the battle.
So the beta blades are closed while you're not in a battle but as soon as you jump to a battle they will Open, Probably is the same case for the new battlegear.

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 14:11:35)

No that's not it, even when out of battle they are massive. Have you seen them yet? If not I could show you...

Rayman -> RE: =ED= May 15th, 2014 - May Madness (5/23/2014 14:59:54)

Ok i want to see it in battle in char page and offbattle.
