I've started this thread for those newbs out there who are considering to create masterpieces in the current favourite program, Photoshop.

Now, ask away liberally, but stuff like "Omg, Mishka is incredible, kan u teach me how 2 do dat? lolz" is not accepted. Any sort of tutoring isn't really tolerated here. But anything other than, welcome!

Another point to get across, this isn't a sig shop. No matter how much you beg, whine, and spam, you'll just get ignored or, ahem "lightly" falmed by me if you cross me.

Thanks for reading .

A Simple 3px Border

This border ALWAYS adds a decent impact to your work, no matter what it is.

1. New layer over all other layers, overlay style

2. Edit > Stroke > 3px white (experiment with colours)

3. Blending options of that same layer > Stroke > 1px black, normal style

4. New layer, normal style

5. Edit > Stroke > 1 px of black.

For steps 2,3, and 5 ALWAYS have two constrasting colours other it won't look very good. Here's my finished product

This is a tut on how to make a border like above. It is quite simple.
Step 1- Take out a sig or something you want to have the border on. then make a new layer (CTRL+SHIFT+N) then select the Polygonal Lasso Tool.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/0.jpg
Step 2- Use the PLT and hold down the SHIFT key while you from one corn to another, then touch the corner again.. NOTE: Do one side each time! Example:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/002.jpg
Step 3- Fill it in with ANY colour you want with the paiint bucket tool. (Press "G" to select). should now look like this:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/003.jpg
Step 4- Now right click the layer and select "Blending Options" and play around with everything you want until you are satified. Example:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/004.jpg
Step 5- Once you are satisfied, repeat Steps 2-4 but each on a different side.
~~~~~NOTE: When you are filling in the the sides, you won't have to go to blending options again once you do it the first time...so itll be fast to finish it.~~~~~
Storm Background
Ok here is a tut on how to make a basic, easy cloudy with lightning background, with basicly only filters. This is my first tut...so yea...
Step 1- Make a new document, doesn't matter what size...in this tut it is 200 by 200, with a white background. Press "D" to reset your colours.
Step 2- Go to Filter>Render>Clouds. It should now look something like this:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/step1.jpg
Step 3- Now go to Filter>Render>Difference Clouds. It should now look something like this:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/step2.jpg
Step 4- Now press CTRL+I to invert it, you should see a bit of lightning now. Should look somewhat like this:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/step3.jpg
Step 5- Now press CTRL+L. Set the setting like below:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/step4.jpg
It should now look like this:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/done.jpg
Step 6- Now to add some colour, Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation, check the colourize box like below.
~~~~~Note: You don't have to put the same colour setting though, just play around until you get a colour you like.~~~~~
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/hue.jpg
Now you are done...

Do you have a pic that you want, but you cant use it unless the background is gone? here is one of the ways away to get rid of the background.... there are hundreds of ways to render
Step 1: Open your desired picture...This is the picture which i am using:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut1.jpg
Step 2: With ur picture, enter quickmask mode by pressing this icon on the toolbar. Double click it and then set it to these settings:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut2.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut3.jpg
Step 3: Magnify.Now select the Brush tool (Press \"B\")
Step 4: Now start selecting. Painting in black will select, and painting in white will remove from the selection. When i cut out renders, i usually start by going around the bit i want. You can just do this roughly as it can be touched up later.
If you slip, its ok, just paint over it with white and it will dissapear.
Also, u can change your brush size to whatever you want...it will be useful to cover small and/or big areas.
Now it should look somewhat like this:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut4.jpg
As you see, it rushed it tongue.gif So i only have the outline, but you want the whole thing, so continue...
Step 5: Select the Wand too (Press \"W\") and click inside the red line:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut5.jpg
Step 6: Now go to Select>Modify>Expand and enter 2 pixels...and now press ALT+BACKSPACE to fill it in.
Step 7 (optional, but suggested):
Go back to your pic and magnify it more and then start brushing it more incase you missed/messed up something.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut6.jpg
Step 8: When you are done, simply exit quickmask by pressing:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut7.jpg
Now you should see the what I call the \"Walking Ant\" around the pic...now just drag it onto your sig.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y16/anm00727/tut8.jpg
Hope you like this tut! There are many more ways to render images too, this is just one way.

DarkMorning -> RE: PS Advice: Solving All Your PS Problems and Needs. We rate too! (9/8/2005 22:28:21)

i kant even find how to resize a pic in this

trunammer -> RE: PS Advice: Solving All Your PS Problems and Needs. We rate too! (9/9/2005 15:56:49)

Ledah. First, tell us what you are having trouble with. I'll help you with that from there.
DarkMorning. When resizing, do u mean the image itself, or the canvas? If you wanna resize a pic in PS(photoshop) fast, you choose the image, go to image and depending on the type of resizing, you can go to image size or canvas size.

kakumei65 -> RE: PS Advice: Solving All Your PS Problems and Needs. We rate too! (9/9/2005 16:33:58)

hi i wanna ask a question.......in PS how do u get those diagonal lines in the background? i just can't find out how to make them.........

trunammer -> RE: PS Advice: Solving All Your PS Problems and Needs. We rate too! (9/9/2005 16:53:11)

you mean the scan lines? well first create a new document. 3 x 3 pixels. transparent bg. now zooom all the way close to it as possible. now take the pencil utensil and make the colour to be black. now put one square on the top left, one in the center, and the last in the bottom right. it should be 3 diagonal squares. now go to edit, define pattern and save the patten by making a name a click ok. now everytime u want those scan lines, just go create a new layer above the sig, and choose that pattern. it'll be really dark so u might have to change the opacity to make it fit the sig

kakumei65 -> RE: PS Advice: Solving All Your PS Problems and Needs. We rate too! (9/9/2005 17:07:13)
