Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 13:03:05)

wow a halo text halo render but how did you get the text to become the same colour as the background

crazysk8er -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 13:16:02)

I used a text blending tut. I've memorized it because I use it so much lol.

Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 13:17:42)

could you give me the link o the tut

crazysk8er -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 13:22:55)

I'm not sure where it is, I lost the link because I don't use it. I'll look though... Here!

Sanji -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 14:55:00)

i would try this but i dont have gimp anymore, i use photoshop!

this looks like a good tutorial.but i'd have to see for myself!

Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 15:03:00)

its just that i have seen people asking for mis on a sig so i thought this could help

dominic_r_monroe -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 15:24:11)

overlay also works darky it has a different mist though

Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 15:27:44)

i know overlay is the last one of my results

beany boy! -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 16:48:36)

would this work on photoshop? might try it soon, its basicly the same, there is a drop down bar that is sounds... which might be like what is in gimp

Master Magic Mage -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 17:20:25)

yeah beany, photoshop is like gimp but with MANY more effects and filters.

beany boy! -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 17:35:18)

thats because we pay for photoshop :P anyway, in like less than an hour i will have mine installed... i got CS3 today!!! [:)][:D][;)]

Dragonlord_zero -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/4/2007 19:11:34)

i have used this before but instead i made it black and overlayed it....

it kinda gave me this weird holographic effect (move the comp screen up and down)

and added black mist to the background

Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/5/2007 3:46:10)

but if you want it more see able use hard light. setting it to overlay makes it a thick mist

beany boy! -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/5/2007 5:58:17)

its kind of different in photoshop, but basic essence its the same, people who want to try, u go filter, render, clouds. and basicly thats it.

it doesnt turn out too good but that might just be experiance

Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/5/2007 13:47:41)

wow 100 plus hits

D.N._Angel -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/31/2007 20:03:07)

i don't like i much because if you over use it then it won't come out cool and might mask the letters.

DragonGuard -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (5/31/2007 21:01:12)

I tried this. I think I followed the instructions right, but it's somewhat hard to tell because i've got a swedish version of GIMP...
Anyways, the results ended up quite nice (only tried on a random screenie anyway, so no point in posting it). However, something occured to me:
From step 6 and onwards the result end up pretty much the same if you use filter->color->color to alpha with black(000000). (using white, ffffff , gives a black mist instead). Not much of a difference, but, now you can use various color-tools to give your "mist" a new color.

Hope this is usefull.

PS: thanks for the great tutorial, it's a really cool effect.

grim_reaper 111 -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (6/1/2007 2:24:07)

how do i turn the layer over to hard light????

Wen Su the Tank -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (6/1/2007 4:00:47)

right press CTRL+L at the same time and on the top layer there should be a green bar at the top then click the arrow and the setting are all there

Puppy -> RE: [gimp]how to get mist (6/2/2007 7:24:44)

I followed your thing but added more X and Y and got this
