Tech Mages are the weakest Class at the moment. Varium Tech Mages are struggling, while Non-Varium Tech Mages can barely put up a good fight against the 5 Focus Bot Builds that are emerging. With the recent Balance Update, Mercs have been Nerfed, and are now about equal to Bounty Hunters in terms of power. Tech Mages, however, appear to have been Nerfed even further with the removal of Focus's Bonus Damage.

So Bounty Hunter = Mercs, Tech Mages are underpowered. How do we fix that?

By lowering Field Medic's Cooldown back to 3.

Think about it; Field Medic's extra turn of Cooldown, and Agility were both implemented to weaken Heal Looping Builds. Unfortunately, they were so effective that they almost wiped out Heal Looping completely.

With Agility, Heal Looping was already more difficult. But Field Medic's extra turn of Cooldown made Heal Looping almost impossible.

Well, we can't exactly get rid of Agility, can we? Of course not. It would allow high HP Builds to return with no penalty. Field Medic's extra turn of Cooldown, however, was added for only one reason: to weaken Heal Loopers. And now, Tech Mages have obviously become the weakest Class.

Heal Looping could once again give Tech Mages the edge they need to compete against the best Bounty Hunters and Mercs. If Field Medic's Cooldown were lowered, Tech Mages could once again incorporate Heal Looping into their Builds, though their power would be kept in check by Agility.

In my opinion, this would be a simple solution to our Balance Issues. My question is this...

I dont think Mages is Uped , Today i Lose to a Non var Mage and Some Varium Mages , I think Hunter=Merc=Mage but in speed of killing Merc>(or =)Hunter>Mage thats why mages seem uped

I wish Healloop back its the most enjoyable build i ever had but Admins will not bring it back :S sry

 i think mages are only counted as UP'ed becuase the "Famous" TM's have all changed class so us winning TM's get little fame

@Bunshichi: Unlike you (assuming that you're still a Merc), Tech Mages usually can't kill their opponents in two turns. Like TurkishIncubus said, Tech Mages are slower than Mercs or Bounty Hunters.

Most Mercs have a single, powerful Field Medic. Bounty Hunters have a decent Field Medic coupled with Blood Lust. Wouldn't it make sense if Tech Mages, the "slower killers", had multiple Field Medics, to extend the length of a Battle?

Malfunction, Stun, Bolt. This will do over 100dam and if then stun hit you will have easily won almost all battles.... Underpowered? I think not, and besides lvls 15-25 then n00b combo just wins every time then stun so =P

All classes are NOT uped or oped you have to use the class the right way with the right build

Umm , I'm Having Good Battles For Now , I Did a Good Build But Still Some Lucky Ppl Get Ride Of Me , Anyway , My % Can Go Up To 85% With No Luck , and About 88% With Some Luck (I'm Not Using Tech Mage Attacks , Just Malf Heal Boosts Gun Aux Thats All , Strike If Needed) (No Staff)

I'm a Mage , And If I Get That 3 Cooldown For The Heal Back , I'll Get Into 90% Of Winning , Thats For Sure.

Hope The Admins Accept This :/

 Seriously.

I am a Tech Mage, and Heal Looping would be great. But one more thing...would this apply for all classes or only for Tech Mages? Since every class has a different skill tree, why can't Tech Mages be the only class with 3 turn healing?

EDIT: Also, other classes would complain about different heal cooldown blahblahblah.

@Above: The 3 Turn Cooldown would have to apply to all Classes. Most Balance Updates don't directly affect a single Class. This would affect all three Classes, but only Tech Mages noticeably.

@beastmo: So what exactly is the "right Build" for Tech Mages?

@Teh Cajanator: Malfunction, Stun, and Plasma Bolt? That would just be a waste of Energy. Not to mention that smarter opponents would put up some sort of Shield (Energy Shield, Blood Shield, Technician, Hybrid Armor, or possibly Assault Bot).

 I have enjoyed this update. With the decrease in stat compression, patient true balanced builds now can survive and have the ability to weather the storm. I have had majority of my duels 10-20 rounds. Though I am not in position to deal with certain style Strength Mercs, I feel, once I am at level 33, I will find a solution to deal with all of them.

The reason Strength Mercs are so abundant, it is because the lack of true defensive Tech Mages. The varium one's I had seen today, majority, were either 5 focus or high support. Sadly, for nearly 8 hours of dueling, I seen about 10-12 varium techmages. Once more tech mages reach lvl 33, the reign of the strength merc will start to diminish. Quality Builds, Quality matches,

I also feel, reason the quick victor play become vogue, it was due to amount of battles within a given hour. Tech mages do not have the ability to deal heavy damage w/o prep. And the one's who do, they open themselves to a low percentage with high risk builds.

@lectrix the right mage build is a build that works for you and can kill 75%+ of the time just because u lose a battle doesnt mean its the end of world and that your build sucks you jut have to learn how to use it and master it

If there is no viable build available for a tech mage, then there can be no build that suits him.
Currently, tech mages have been reduced to 2 main types of build - Support and 5 focus.
Variants of those two can be used, but the stat diminishing doesn't particularly help in any way.

Also, I, as a non-varium tech mage, have found it very hard to find a build that works properly due to disadvantages in stats, and a lack of skill points.
This is not to say that Lectrix has difficulty, it is just very unlikely for him to find a build that suits him without a lot of refinement and retraining, etc...

Tech mages require a lot more strategy and thinking compared to builds like the strength merc (you), as they cannot deal as much damage and so must plan ahead, thus, heal looping, but the effectivenees of heal looping was killed by the 4turn cooldown on FM.

Heal looping build is as the merc's strenght insane build so why do you depend on it?I have won many fights with a 4 focus build and it still works.

u cant comprare those
u saying str merc as if they are invincible but they aren't, str mercs only win fast, while heal loops win good. theres a difference there
heal loop is for more accurate wins while str merc is for faster wins. people say str merc is OP but it looses as fast as they can win.

@beastmo: You CAN Heal Loop... but can you Heal Loop effectively? Can YOU think of a good Heal Looping Build -- one that can be used by Non-Varium Tech Mages?

@Light Stridr: Actually, I HAVE found a decent Build... though it requires a Bot (my only Varium Item). But I agree; it's really hard to find a good that doesn't require a bit of thinking... even Heal Looping requires more thinking than a Merc's Strength or Support Builds. At higher Levels, Tech Mages can't just run into Battle and fire off a Plasma Bolt... but a Skill like Bunker Buster can do crippling Damage at any Level.

 Mages pls stop obcessing over HL its the only OP'ed build in teh history of Tech Mages that has been obsecced over and frankly im sick of it you all complain that we cant HL but none of you are willing to go out and try builds that will risk that perfect record of yours.

at the caster build supporter your a miricale worker becuase i thought i was the only caster left PB and Overload cost energy but guess what we have this move called reroute that gives us, you guessed it, energy thast why we have Reroute becuase Titan gave us highish Energy moves and this was to keep us in the loop

Whay do you mean you can't HL. With assimilation and removal of focus, it just isn't hard, heal has to be level 7 though.

The false information I see here is giving me a headache.

I'm pretty much the only mage who is active and has stayed mage for the longest time. I have switched classes before, but I was only a mercenary for 3 days until I decided it was a terrible decision. (that was last summer)

There is a build for mages, and I'm determined to find it. Focus is not the only option.... Heal Looping was always an OP build. Hardly anyone could beat it. Removing that one cooldown for heal is NOT the answer. Also, instead of reduce things... how about things are buffed? Supercharge needs a major buff in power.

I guess the problem is not the class, but varium. Varium gives WAY more stat mods than non varium weapons do. And by the way it is wrong to give 4 varium items AND a lot of credits only for the epic varium package.
By the way I made a wierd build here:
4-1-1
1-1-3
7-6-0
10-0-0
This build could use 110 health, low energy, high support, high dexterity, low strength, medium tech.
Start with malfunction, then overload (hope for a stun), assimilate, heal if necessary (or else attack depending on the weaker element of the enemy), and then aux to finish the match.
I think this build suks though :P
