I am wondering what the majority of users think when someone offers them "free varium"....

I was battling someone, and he said he would give me free varium (20000 he said), and asked for my user and pass.

So I guess they're not the smart....every time I meet one of those kind of guys (or gals), I simply ask them to give me a battleon points code. And every time, they insist that I give them they're user and pass.

Then I screenshot, go to ED Reporting, then report. FLAMMMMMEEDDDDDD :D

There are enough players that dont know the function of the login data.
So they are easy target for scammers. There are sometimes even people
that give you their login on their own so that you level up their characters
but this is rare. Maybe its not their own account or a test project.

I have been scammed three times, so maybe i could explain what is going through the scammed players head when they give their password and username.

Of course, as soon as the username and password are given, i regained my commen sense and relized i should not have done that. I go to battleon and try to change my password, but i am always to late. Then, i see what the email was changed to and send emails to the hacker hoping that i can pursuade them to give me my account back.

The first time i got scammed i was a level 27 mage that still had the aprentice staff, so when i got offered varium of course i did not think about it twice. I still do not know why the hacker wanted my bad account though.

The second time i got scammed i was only a level 10 but i had bought gamma gear. I had just joined a faction and the faction founder requested private chat. I met with him later on and saw that he had beta weapons, so when he told me he was going to give me some beta weapons i believed him and gave away my username and password.

By now you would think i would be really carefully and paranoid about my account being scammed. However, there was one more scamming strategy that i was not familiar with. The scammer and i were "friends" for a while before he made his move. He made up this whole story about how he was a hired hacker from artix entertainment and his job was to use his hacking skills to stop bad hackers. He said that he could hack my account at any time and he actually was looking at it that moment!
I panicked because i feared i my account would be lost yet agan, so i quickly offered to let him use my account whenever he wanted to as long as he let me use it too. He asked my info, which made me suspicous, but i did not want to take the chance that he would get made and steel my account if i did nto give the info so guess what............... there went my username and password. Luckily, i got the account back by messaging the help team, but i reset my password to the same was as before and lo and behold, i could not log on one week later because my password would not work. I gave up and made one last account that has yet to be scammed.

Looking back i realize how stupid i must have been to be scammed three times, but it really boiled down to the fact that i thought the only way for staff to give you stuff was if you manually gave them your username and password. Now that that note pops up everynow and then that says "staff will never ask you for your username and password" i have hope that scamming will occur less and less.

I love playing with the wannabe hackers. They ask for my info, I tell them fake info. Watch them log off for a few minutes, they come back complaining it didn't work so I tell them a similar pw to the previous fake pw. Repeat with minor changes till they just don't come back lol

I find scammer funny with their effort sometime.

I was go around then a guy come to me and said he could give me 2000 varium for free.
I was about to leave then other guy come and say "i want varium". Give the scammer pass and log out, later both log in and he tx that scamme rso much for free 2000 varium and both keep telling me how true it was
That's a pretty great play by scammers. Some people actually might fall for that

I agree they think where stupid. Give me your user and pass and I give you 20,000 Varuim! If you have so much varuim why give it to me and trade my account with you? How stupid do they think we are.
They are also quite funny. They say give me your pass and username I give them a fake one then they say its not working. So they clearly admitted that they where trying to log into my account. Then they honestly repeat it again give me your REAL username and password it isnt working at the LOGIN in screen. I was like you scammers are not very smart are you? You admitted you where trying to use my account.

There is a simple rule:

NEVER give your login data to ANYBODY. Even not to your friends, partners, family and staff !
The staff will never ask for your password but sometimes they need the account name which
depends on the game. Also make sure you have a strong password.

My level 31 merc was asked by a level 26 bh to get varium. He buddied me and he basked me for login. I told him a fake one and he removed me straight away.

I was scammed once but it was my fault they said they would give me free varium and he only need it for 2 hours. also I knew this guy for 2 months so I was quite piss off and I was very sleep. But what made me most mad when ask for help at oz every player treat me like crap it took me 4 hours to finally gey help. I know if anyone got hack I would help them even if I never ment them or I just ment few times in battle. I actually remember I help person name stunts I pm on old forums and mods and explain them story. I then I seen her few months ago later she told me she got her account back with in 2 weeks I explain to her what I did. But one more step I did was I got her in buffy faction.

At time when was buffy friend but no longer am. My point say if you ever hear someone hack just help them.

Well I was scammed once by someone I considered a friend I got talking to someone in a 2vs2 battle and it turned out he was my friend in school so I mean we made a faction and one day he said he could get me some varium and I trusted him I gave him my info so I asked him the next week he said he would get it next week well he moved in 3 days and when I finally got t back with help from the AE help service everything was gone except I was lucky enough to be a founder so I still had my unsellables and with my remaining varium I bought gamma bot and that is where I am now

@Isaiahthemage, I don't think that thehy think we're stupid. I think they're jsut trying everyone that they encounter thats a higher level, or someone with varium weapons, etc. they jsut try everyone just to see if it will work. sometimes it does, and it has never happened to me. personally, I have gone through a COmputer Applications I class (which I think should be required in high school now because it includes some online safety, etc.). thats a different issue. People are too vulnerable, it's a normal human action, the thought of "I want more". What I can say to people is, if it sounds like they're a hacker, or if they're offering you ANYTHING, just call bs on them.

People who get scam deserve the trouble. Remember that if you fall for a scam, that means you tried to scam Artix by getting free varium.

above actually no rule against give varium but ask for user and pass is. Most of times they would first ask you if you have forum account if no. then would ask if you free varium if yes they would ask user and password. Most of times they would ask you what time is it at your place and how old you are. If you say 12 and below you say its 12 am so. They then say give you free varium.

Hmm.. Unfortunately , Every Time I Get Asked For "Free Variums" Or Something , I Just Freak Out The Scammer o_o , I Mean if he say "Do you want free variums yes or no ?" .. I Say Or =|

Or.. I Give My User Like "I am stupid" and then I tell him to Rewrite my user .. He say "I am stupid" .. =|

And ! If the scammer was saying that he's rich.. then tell him "Buy variums on ur account.. Why to offer free vars to ppl :O ?"
"Answer : I like to share my money with u" Reply : SANTA =D !! -__-"

Finally.. Happened In my Old faction Once "I Was the Leader" and Told all of my faction officers and members to jump =) , so I'm sure that the scammer had a BAD bad Nightmare x__x ...

P.S : Never got hacked and Had over 15 times asked for free vars or some of the scamming things in all my career.

I also have had a personal experiance with a scammer and i can tell you now it was not what i expected.
Those who have not had this expereince are proberly thinking.... "How can people be soo dum i can smell scammers fom a mile away, i mean it cant be hard to realise there a scammer when the ask for your user and pass." But a smart scammer can be VERY convinicing!.

My experience: Luckily for me i didnt get to the point were my account was actuly stolen as it came to my attention at W7 oz that the person i was talking to was a scammer and my doubt about this person came true.

But up untill then this is what happened: The scammer when I first met him was all like "hi!", and we talked for a while he was generally VERY nice and I added him and we became small friends, THE NEXT DAY!, he was like "man i hate training my charcter i would give anything if someone could do it for me." and he was goin on about that for a while when he suddenly was like "I know can you train my noob character I'll give you varium?", suddely then i became very suspecious but it was eased when he did not mention anything about my account at all!. That day he gave me his user name and password to his account (yess i accepted his offer, i mean free varium who wouldn't) and i logged it and to my surprise it worked and it was a lvl 28! founder! Me being an honest player obviosloy did not steal his account and merely logged off and talked with him about it for a while. He gave me an offer of 10k for lvl 32 and having been able to get this far was very tempted by this offer. THE NEXT DAY! I logged his account on agian and to my surprise the pass was not changed and i played on it for a while and lvl it to lvl 29. when i logged back on my main i told him what i did and he was like "TYVM", and i was like "no probelm but i still have alot of levels to go". that is when he said but i have nothing to do when your on my account how about you let me use yours. As soon as he said that i grew extremely suspecious agian and having still been tempted with the free 10k var and the lvl 29 founder calaterol was very tepmted to share this info. But i knew i had to be very careful so i asked around for ages when finaly someone told me he was a hcker and i was like!!! :O!!!!!!! but i sorta guessed it. I firgured that the account he let me use was prberly already stolen so i pretended to be friends with this guy and discovered the extreme lengths some scammers go through and i also found out that he had 3 other founders and a couple of high var charcters and i was slightly not surprised as his abilaity to convince people was pretty unique. Any way then i PMed NW and told him all i knew. as i didnt get the reply i don't know what happened to this guy all i know is that he disapeared and that the acccount he let me use did not work anymore.

Anyway this is my story , you might think im a fool but i can tell you it is nothing like what you expect with some smart scammers and as the devs always say the best advice certainly is NEVER GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFO TO ANYONE.

Rules of thumb:
1. Don't give away login information under any circumstance
2. If you get threatened, screenshot and PM the Lawman
3. Occasionally take videos/screenshots of your account, so it can be restored in the event of a raid.

When someone tries to scam me, I love saying "I got a screenshot, u r about to get banned". One time, I had a guy who seemed awesome and had actually been on my buddy list for a while. He acted very nice for a long time and did not seem suspicious at all. One day, he suddenly said "Can I share your BH account, I'll get wins and level it up. I promise I won't hack". I immediately said "Bro, I got a pic of that; I'm reporting u :D". Deleted him from my buddies and reported him on the spot. It doesn't matter how close they are to you or how nice/awesome they sound, if someone asks for login info under any condition: screen, gloat, delete, report.

i was scammed once when i was non varium, but i was slightly smart. I asked him before to give his pass and username :D and then i logged onto portal.battleon.com on firefox and then logged onto my own account on chrome. sure enough he took my account. he changed his password so i couldnt log in. Luckily enough i was still logged into his portal and my portal (which were both changed passwords) so i first changed both emails back to my emails and then changed both passwords back to a different password and now i keep his account and he lost his :D. (ofc i dont use it anymore)
