Terrible idea, they keep messing up the game, why not cap at some point? The hardcores are going to get further and further away from everyone til they're all gods. With no cap they'll all just stay whatever is the strongest class and ruin the game for everyone.

If you didn't want to discuss BH the why mention it in the main post? What exactly do you want to talk about?

I'ma say something that may get me in trouble. Are the Devs in the mindset that unlimited leveling = never ending demand for x2 exp = unlimited cash flow from hardcores? Is this what I'm seeing? To heck with casuals for the benefit of the top 5-10 % of players? I don't use my lower levels because of the enormously frustrating injustice of having to fight people 3 - 4 levels above me all the time, now I gotta go through this no matter who I'm using?

Here you go.

@ Valkyrie

all the more reason why 1 level at a time would have been so much better then not only bombing 4 levels at once, but giving unlimited leveling.

It is causing problems for casual players, and in turn is hurting the game.

At least with one level there isn't too much of a power gap, but then again I remember players (mostly the hardcore ones) suggesting what they did with the last update.

I'm gonna quote myself from my own thread
quote:

[Anyways, what I forsee because of the legends release is that the grinding zone will be extended to level 30-38 and when most players have reached level 40 and are all legends, casual or new players like me who has not been in the level cap for almost half a year now will likely quit because the perks that these "legends' get will make fighting with a level disadvantage an even bigger deal. The most logical way for the developers to keep their dwindling player base and add to it is to remove loses and add new ideas to satisfy the competetive players(many of which are scattered over this thread).
/quote]

Relates to this thread.

how about legend's special stats and perks only work on NPC and boss battle, that could solve something

^ That makes it rather pointless, Edward's suggestion isn't the best solution, but its what we have currently.

@ Edward

Dang I wasn't thinking about that far off but you're absolutely right, this game will be a cesspool of horror down the line.

kinda what happens when you apply such a drastic change to a game that was already struggling balance wise. Now the game will lose even more players and eventually the only players will be lvl 40 hardcores which means sadly the game will die. Hardcores are important go want to cater to but not at the expense of screwing the casuals over fun/ gameplay wise.

I like Edwardvulture's idea. It definitely won't be supported by all, but is potentially the most effective one.

Well I guess that this feature has made me quit the game until better balance. I just feel that the level cap was increased too quickly and those players who can spend less than 1000 Varium to get double XP would benefit. Ruthless Ninja is one of those players and I think Matt 1000 wasn't using XP boost for the whole time. Matt 1000 went against Trans and something happened, I can't stop laughing about it!

Anyways, this whole levelling up thing has made people switch Class to Bounty Hunter to get fast wins and possibly a better win ratio. Look at the leaderboards, Bounty Hunters have win ratios which isn't always 80%+, some have less than 70, but in some cases, it's the players with over 50,000 1v1 wins which are getting ridiculously high win ratios (90%+). Why it's hard to beat these Strength BHs are because they can deal high damage and they have reasonably good defence. They also have high HP and there's nothing stopping that from happening. More stat points isn't the reason, it's how they're using it. What's even worse is the heal looping TMs, which is common because people are copying the original build. But I guess that it is not the same as Level 36s vs. Level 32. :D

I've quit because I can't be bothered to battle Strength BHs.

Until I find the fast way to level up without having to do PVP, I think I will just play Pikmin 3 (thanks grandma).

I've seen players tell me they quit, and I've had some tell me that they have gone into (semi)retirement. Experienced players too. So, is EpicDuel going to survive solely based off hardcore gamers (who will one day tire of the game) and newcomers (who get hammered by the hardcore gamers)? Oy vey.

We don't know what these legendary stats are, it could literally be anything from influence and credit boosts to deflection and block percentages. Doesn't have to be that big of a deal. Besides, it is now easier to level up than ever before. Once balance changes come out (hopefully before legendary stats), it will be easier for each class to compete and stand a better chance against level 40s.

NOW does everyone see why a few of us have been calling for level ranges in fights to be reduced? Also, we need DR to apply to health, that's been brought up a few times as well. But keep in mind guys, these guys with the 90% wins? They're the ones making the builds that get copied. That's WHY they get 90% with builds that others are getting 70%-80% with. If we nerf their current build(like the str BH), they WILL find a new OP build, the challenge is to find a way to beat them.

*Sigh*

Have you guys been at the level cap so long/ so consistently that you forgot what it was like fighting a higher-leveled player? Those days when I was level 30...

Anyway, the issue isn't the level cap raise. The issue is that level ranges are too great. But even when I'm fighting a level 34 (I'm level 35), in my mind, I've already won.

^ you're completely right, going from the main post, yes there's a lot of imbalance... idk if bh is the most "op" class anymore as none of the classes are now balanced (static grenade is now pointless which is why you see the strength builds), yes cybers (not so much bloodmages as they aren't as bad off their problems are on a smaller, specific scale) get ignored with every update, and yes raisin the cap 4 lvls was a diversion and moneymaker idea... however if the main idea is that it's hard to beat someone higher lvl'd than you then this post doesn't quite have a leg to stand on as that's always been the case and is supposed to be the case. if you have a higher level you'll have more of an advantage. simple

Seems to me like yall feel the same way lvl 30s feel when they fight 35s.

@SSM

Add to the fact that there is very little flexibility near the top levels, and all the hardcore players are using the same build which has few counters if any thanks to balance issues. At lower levels a lot more builds work and their is a lot more flexibility which is why most don't start complaining until they reach the final stretch. Has always been like this.

I basically had to kill my normal builds so that my win rate would be above 30% because I never hit the old level cap and now I have to jump up five levels to get to the new cap.

Guess what it is pretty terrible to level grind because if I see a level 38 or higher I am done and might as well flee from the fight. And if I see a level 37 I have to go first otherwise I am as good as dead. So if we had only jumped the cap up to 37 it wouldn't be that bad.

Personally I would have introduced the new EXP curve and made the cap 37 then about a month later I would have bumped it to 38 and so on until the cap was at 40 finally one month later I would have introduced legendary bonuses. But I am not the Devs so I couldn't really tell you their intentions or if this release went according to their plan

I didn't find it a good idea either, to suddenly just make such a huge step towards lvl 40.
So far i've only met one lvl 40, and he has the OP BH build, as always.

For now, I will just play 2vs2 till lvl 38-39, so I actually have a chance of winning in a 1vs1 with all those BH's in there. -.-

that op build you speak of has now become the only viable option for the bh as even focus is wack for them due to the overnerf of the static grenade, not to mention the only build that hasn't changed is still the tank tm so i'd argue that point...
to get back on topic i really don't see the point in trying to lvl grind, are you trying to have fun or just win, because if you want to just win with the lack of balance then you might as well follow the rest of the crowd

I was level 35 with almost no exp when this ypdate started, I've managed to grind my way to 37, now I'm gonna start exp boosting. I'm doing it all for the blue name.

What I don't think a lot of you understand is that this is the same thing the level 25's of my day went through, an the level 31's went through recently.

Playing players 5 levels over you sucks. Lol.

But once you get to said level, everything becomes nice again.

I'm at the point where the level difference is actually getting ridiculous, if you consider some imbalance at higher level. Genuinely scared to see what Legendary players will get, as a boost, and what kind of players they will be able to face.

Until then, I'm gonna semi-retire. Although, the toxic community ain't any better, which makes it pathetic at higher level, but that's to be expected if kids play it and lose; need to get back at you. Used to enjoy playing on alts, as opposed to my main, but meh.

The patch notes and the design notes already cover the new level cap.
If you wish to discuss this, you can do so in either of these threads, there is no need for a third thread.
