i think you should be a mini mod for your own thread and if you can't handle it you get that privalige revoked

the mini mod powers would to edit and delete posts in that thread ONLY

not be able to warn or ban players

Exquisitely pathological

Without serious recoding, it would be impossible to give someone the power to edit/delete/lock in their own threads without giving them the ability to do that in the entire forum. Which is too abusable.

EDIT: Here's a quote from Sir Gnome about a similar suggestion:

quote:

Sadly, this is simply not possible logistically. Locking is a local moderator level function, and without a LOT of work for the forum coders, it wouldn't be possible to give people the power to lock their own threads without the power to lock any thread in that board, which would be very much open to abuse.

This has been suggested many times before in the past and I doubt to see it added. As I recall, one of the reasons this wouldn't be added is because that Forum users in the past would delete in thread warnings that were given by a higher ranking board personal and resulted in more serious offenses if I recall.

Inconceivable!

Its very abusable. OPs could delete opposing views in discussion, edit other people's post (without their consent) and would create a nightmare all round.

I think the "delete your last post if it is the last post" system works the best. It allows you to delete your post if you see you posted in the wrong thread (or forum) but the power stops as soon as someone else posts.

@The Forgotten
Your quote talks about Locking threads.
Tom is asking for mini-mod. Meaning tell other people if they are doing something wrong on the thread.
This would be good because some of the AKs (esp. The AQW Q&A) are not active or barely check it. I would know because I have noticed that many threads are not being locked after a lock request, or many still get away with double posting or spam on threads.
It would be good for the maker to have control on their thread.

@Tom
although you are asking to edit and delete, that may not be made posssible.
BUT advising others of something wrong may.

No, no it wouldn't, because that person could easily abuse control of his thread. If mini-mods are allowed, then the jobs of the normal AKs/Mods will be greatly diminuished greatly. And yes, threads sadly don't get locked and deleted as fast as soem would like, but that's what happens when you compare the numbers.

@ultrapowerpie
Well yes, but AKs will still have authority to lock and delete, etc.
All Tom and I are asking for is to advise others on our threads.
Is that possible?

Not as the current suggestion, no. Mini-modding creates tension between members and can result in insults and flaming. This is only one of the reasons we prefer to not see it in any incarnation. Furthermore, as an answer I know I've seen somewhere, but can't remember exactly where, if the forum staff trusted a member enough to mini-mod his own thread, the member would be trusted enough to be asked to be an ArchKnight for the board.

Members already have an overly proprietary sense of "their" threads. Allowing mini-modding in your own thread would only further that. Not to mention, members don't always know what breaks the rules and what doesn't; mini-modding when incorrect only encourages fighting and insults between members.

The far easier solution would be to simply increase the number of ArchKnights in a forum, if moderation there has become a problem.

And Zaier. Though the title of the thread is suggesting mini-modding, the first post suggests editing and delete powers. The Forgotten was thus entirely correct in responding with the quote he did. Please make sure to closely read the original post of a thread before responding.
