http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/Skill%20Editing%20Mockup%20DNs.jpg If you click that lick it brings you to a picture released in the latest design notes. Realize one of the specials is call "Omega Onslaught"
What do you think this will be???? I think it will be a mix of gun bullets and lasers shooting from the sky doing 20% more damage with a 15% chance to happen! Discuss!

Really really not trying to be a "mini mod" but i'm sure an archknight will say this should be discussed in the design notes thread

But to answer your question, i don't know because it isn't out yet, so no need to get my hopes up

I don't like it not one little bit.

This will cause mass confusion and you won't know if your opponent has specials on them or not until it is too late. You will be fighting blind in a sense when it comes to special abilities. Also this is just another step into turning ED into want of those dress up games since you can mitch and match your weapon special and stats.

I have to agree with mother1 on this. While stat customization is cool, it definitely should NOT have passive weapon skills implemented. This makes many promos lose their special effect and power, as well as just make it unpredictable when fighting the opponent. Stat customizations are also cool but I'm hoping it'll still be limited to mainly the base weapon stats. One of the main aspects I'm looking forward to is upgrading low level weapons into higher ones, making less gear outdated quicker. Also means eggzookas are going to yet again dominate as strongest auxes.

@Mother1

How exactly would your strategy change if you do know what passive abilities the opponent's weapons have?

Personally, I like how they do that, since now they're trying to make items differ from just the appearance. However, they may do it as well as making some of them for Credits, others for Varium.

@ silver

at least the way it is now you will know what to expect with specials the way it is now. However with you being able to use any special you have no idea what to expect. One moment you could be ok next someone will strike you and apply frost to you and boom if you had a energy based plan or used exact energy your plan is delayed or send down the drain.

This is just one way you plan could be wreaked since you wouldn't be expecting it.

I can think of others but I won't post them But from what I read recently nightwraith is going make some promos immune to this. Please make the frost and II immune to this please.

@mother And knowing if someone has Frostbite makes a difference? If you have exact energy and no boosters then Frostbite will ruin that plan, regardless of whether you knew about it or not.

some skills like the massive strike are exclusive to the infernal interdictor, so i don't think exclusive abilities could be added to any random weapon. frostbite is one thing but massive strike or mark of azrael on a random weapon is another since you might not know it until they crit.
scenario: someone has got massive strike on infernal slayer, you know infernal slayer dont have any specials so you might not be too worried if you have 35 health, but this guy strikes and did a 45 damage crit that sends you flying, now that is simply wrong.

^Agreed. The devs might just be getting too carried away with making huge changes to gameplay. Special effects must remain exclusive to certain weapons. Feels completely wrong to have the Infernal Interdictor having the Lucky Strike ability. This decision, in my opinion, will harm the game more than it will help.

I sincerely urge the staff to reconsider this decision to make weapons specials equippable.

Skills and special effects could be showing in the character status window when you click. I think there is enough space to fit them.

But currently we can expect too much already from builds... why must we know everything in the first place? Adaptability is also skill, it's part of a real battle. So, the opponent may be obscured a bit, but this also means you can surprise them.
The same way an opponent can ruin your strategy by using a hidden ability, if builds were not visible the opponent wouldn't even know how to ruin it in the first place.

Battles would be much more fun if we had that factor. Discovering enemy information during the battle makes thing interesting, and it would promote more new, unexpected builds. :)
well, I just wanted to say you can either be affected by it, or see it as an advantage.

from my point of view on this system, 10k varium will last us for half a year or more.

I might actually spend something on varium now, since it has gained value.

I didn't consider it before, because items got replaced too quickly... it seemed a waste of money, actually.

But this is my opinion. As much as I love epicduel, I'm usually one that doesn't spend money in these type of games. ..and because of other money related priorities :)

All I see here is whining.

Who cares if you can't see what Weapon Mod your enemie has? Or if he has a Weapon Mod like "Massive Strike" on a Delta weapon?

All I see here is more fun, more strategy, More Surprise!

Apparently not everyone feels the same way you do about this idea and those of us who don't like it have the right to feel that way. It is kind of like when some people posted how we should be able to block builds while others didn't like the idea of fighting blind. It is like that in a sense.

Apparently not everyone feels that way. I remember sometime ago I along with some other posters have made the suggestion of making so no one could see your builds in battle. However some of the same people who are support this idea shot that one down when in a way it would just like you are suggesting. A way to adapt to builds.

I mean I can personally tell some builds by either first strike or first attack on me, but most people as I stated shot it down because they didn't like the idea of fighting blind.

But back on topic besides this unknown factor what about people who actually brought promo's with special abilities? if done incorrectly the abilities that came with those promos that should be rare will be accessible to the general public and if they near brought a promo before yet can get the ability when it is suppose to be rare as stated before it will make past promos and future ones lose all their value.

Varium no longer brings power advantage but a faster way to buy stuff free to play have to farm for. The only thing left would be these promos and the special they carry. This takes away from that and that is my other worry.

But then again I we won't know until omega comes around.

@mother It's the exact same situation as bots. Some people want to know what kind it is so they have some way to counter it. But with specials there is no way to counter it without having prepared before the battle(energy boosters for Frostbite). There is nothing you can prepare for when you're already in the battle, regardless of what the special is. Massive Strike? Can't stop crits from happening. Thorns? Jack-O-Fire? Activated on strike and can't be stopped. Platinum's Fury? Can't be stopped. Chances are a little rage loss won't kill you anyways. Azrael's Curse? Luck based, also can't be stopped. Celtic weapon specials? Same thing.

You can't prevent the special from happening. There is nothing you can counter them with. Sure you could throw up a shield but are you really going to use a shield for just one special and have all that rage gain up on you?

@ ND mallet

I am off that fact now since I already know that. I am still worry about those (including myself) who brought past promos. With this feature if you can buy any weapon special or even apply it for a few credits what is the point of even buying promos? Before it was because they had a power advantage, but now that that is gone all we have are the specials and the art. While the art itself is cool most would go for the special and as I stated what would be the point if you could just get the special cheaply for 3500 credits to apply to any weapon?

@mother Nightwraith has covered concerns about weapon abilities
quote:

Nowhere in the design notes does it say anything about what we will or won't do with regards to existing enhancements. As soon as we've finalized our plan, we will post it and let your feedback direct any changes. That said, it's very unlikely we would issue refunds for enhancements on weapons that have already been sold.

As for the equippable skills -- some skills and weapons will be permanently linked. This will allow certain rares and ultra rares to maintain their identities.

Also, it's been stressed plenty before that the pics they provided are just testing images. They are no way final or an accurate portrayal of price or anything else when the system gets finished.

@Mother1: The reason why it'lll only be "3,500" credit's is because the devs wanna balance credit's in general, they want the game to be more fair for rookie players instead of the special costing something like "20,000" credit's, they want it to be more balanced.

no one is sure if 3.5k credits is balanced.

in fact, nobody is sure if its gonna be 3500 credits, so idk why people bring it up.
